A little lower than I would have thought for Spirit Tracks, but not a terrible start. Hopefully it will have good legs and do similar numbers to Phantom Hourglass. Final Fantasy XIII's second week is pretty much in line with the series norm, so there's nothing wrong with that.

Inazuma Eleven 2 is just having an unreal performance.

New Super Mario Bros is the same beast as it was on the DS.

Nintendo may be doomed, but Mario is not.

I think 1.5 million is possible for Inazuma Eleven.
Level 5 must be going crazy with that.

How did they end up getting IE2 right anyway? IE1 sold well but not a lot.

What a comeback for Taiko.

NSMB Wii is just a selling machine. Will surely sell 4 million in Japan. FF13 is still kicking. Probly make the Top 10 next week and then slowly fall off just shy of 2million. Still a solid performance.

I think the cartoon and good word of mouth really helped it.
Although the first game's performance is nothing compared to this, it still did almost 10x its initial week.

Is even more beast, I think, at least at the moment, probably driven by the huge success of the DS game, probably won't have those gigantic legs...

And 189k for FFXIII is pretty good, at least those are similar numbers of the last main FF games.

Edit: And IE2 performance is surprisingly great, I thought that the 800k would be too much for the games.

Is the FFXIII boost enough to keep the PS3 alive and relevant in Japan?
I don't know, but the sales aren;t that high and I have the feeling this game has no legs at all.
What PS3 games are coming to keep the hardware sales going?

I have a feeling in a month it's only about PSP and DS again.

Even then...crazy. I wonder how well Inazuma Eleven Break on Wii will sell

So when Inazuma Eleven 2 hits a million, it will be the first new rpg IP to reach that mark since what? It's definitely this gen. I don't remember which new IP hit that mark.

Really surprised Japan hasn't bought 5 million of Final Fantasy 13 yet. Guess they like Dragon Quest more?

Nintendo domination on the charts...Nintendo was worried for nothing!

Wondering if/when Inazuma Eleven will make it's way to the US. I know it's headed to Europe but the concept is interesting enough!

FF games are very frontloaded and this won't change with FFXIII.And the only games PS3 can look forward to keep the momentum is GT5 (a series that has been shrinking trought the years on Japan) and Yakuza 4.

If you include Monster Hunter in there, that would count.
Next to that, I think Kingdom Hearts 2.

I wonder if Ninokuni can replicate its success?

FF has never sold 5 million in Japan.

A 2D Mario game, dominating the world, on a home-console!
To top it off it actually deserves this because the game's quality matches it's sales!

This is how things ought to be.

I would expect Hokuto Musou to do quite well when it hits in February, and Star Ocean 4 could possibly outsell it's 360 counterpart like Vesperia did, so I expect the system will keep up until May-ish.

Who knows when Basara 3 hits, that will be an interesting one to watch although not as big as the above... I expect the PS3 version will outsell the Wii one though.

PS3 doesn't need a boost by FF13, the new model already helped the sales a lot.
And Q1 2010 line-up is pretty good for keeping hw sales high.

FF13 doesn't have great legs, Final Fantasy has never been a title with long legs; but FF13 sales are in line with FF10 and FF12 considering the different userbase.
2M mark is not so far, considering there are around 4-4,5M PS3 sold in Japan, the tie ratio is very high

Yeah, I knew I was forgetting some games :).PS3 should do fine a few weeks more, but I doubt It would be marginally better than the PS3 new moedl was doing by itself....

Pretty good for ST, I hope it will have legs.

Nintendo barely sold 10M units in just 5 games, always impressive!

Wow, not even FFXIII has legs. It came out running but tripped up at the beginning of the race.
Just like every single FF before it?

The worldwide numbers of Mario must be something astronomical.
It is like going back in time to the NES times, platforming Mario taking over everything. Never had doubts that the game would be phenomenal sales-wise, but strenghtening over time (even if it is holiday season) is always impressive.

I would ask again what people see in Friend Collection, since I still don't think it can move that many with only Miis. Has anyone around here bought it?

And I am really happy for Inazuma. I want the franchise to reach USA (or at least having IE2 considered for Europe). Can't have enough of that little pearl.

I guess I have a bit of crow to eat. Didn't expect the 2.5m predictions for NSMBW by year's end to come true but it looks like it basically just happened.

IE2 selling like that is weird. Every year there's always some (or a couple of) DS game(s) that comes out of nowhere and becomes a million seller. Last year it was Rhythm Tengoku Gold.
