Nice sales for bought NSMB Wii and FF XIII. NSMB Wii will probably reach 3 million soon and that's when Nintendo will have thoughts of New Super Mario World and New Yoshi's Island. :D

Well, it shipped 1.8 million at the start, and it's now past that, so odds are good retailers ordered at least another 200,000.

Even if it takes a while, those 200,000 will probably be sold at some point, so I imagine it'll make it.

Is that a typo? I expected much more from NSMBwii.
Nah, part of this week was past New Years, so I'd expect it to be slower from this point on.

Not amazing really, especially since it was heavily discounted at many stores.

It's still behind Phantom Hourglass also.

Hero of Legend said:
SW3 is at 21, last week it was at 19, before that at 20, it's surprisingly steady!
There was a time when the series could sell over 1 million copies, so showing a bit of legs isn't too surprising for it in retrospect.

Third week was much better than I expected, last week was in line with other recent FF but this week it's higher; I don't know if it's some post holidays sales or if stores are selling it with a lower price, but it seems to have better legs than FFXII.

At this rate it should get close to 2 millions, although I don't think it will reach it.

Anyone got the LTDs for FFX, X-2 and XII?

Regulus Tera said:

That it did.

I was gonna rush in here with a "FFXIII fucking bombed!" only to end up disappointed.

At the current weeks rate FFXIII will outsell the PS3 in a matter of months!

I saw pictures here from one (online?) store, I think. What are you basing that on?

Also, reposting from the other thread:

So, 188k to 112k for the third week for FFXIII.

Going by Garaph (I know - different tracker), FFX saw a dropoff of 87% in its second week, 64% in its third and 45% in its fourth. FFXII tracked similarly at 89%, 59% and 49%.

So far, FFXII has dropped off 87% in week 2 and 41% in week 3, so it seems to be holding significantly better than the previous 2, even if absolute LTD is down. Holiday bump, or will it have a slightly different sales pattern than previous installments?

Woah nice holds for Taiko and P*P.

Thought both was gonna vastly under perform compared to its previous version.

I only have Famitsu ones on me but:

FFX: 2,323,463
FFX-2: 1,960,937
FFXII: 2,322,329

I imagine it'll end very close to X-2.

I thought some other people shared notes that this happened at a few other stores too, no?

I could be hallucinating.

Good legs for pretty much everything in the Top 10. Inazuma Eleven is almost at a million! 2 million for Final Fantasy XIII is definitely happening, too.

And Samurai Warriors continues to stay at pretty much the exact same spot on the list. It's definitely had some great legs.

New Year's sales tend to give the impression of better legs for games than they'll actually have. Just something to keep in mind. It sold out its first shipment, so it's already ahead of MH3! :lol

Thanks.
Next week's drop of for it should be interesting.

I could be proven wrong (happened plenty of times this gen), but I think we're going to see a larger drop-off for week 4 than with previous installments - I'd say somewhere around 60%, for weekly sales of around 45-50k. After that, I reckon a couple of weeks at 25-30k and then a dropoff into sub-10k sales for a month plus.

If it does make 2 million, it will be by the skin of its teeth. I just don't see the sales pattern varying too much from previous games in the series, and I think this week may have just been a Christmas/New Year aberration.

I blame the quickenings. As the name implies, they make everything faster.

PSP 2 is selling really well  i didn't think it would have legs like this.

isn't it near or passed the LTD of the first game?

So do we ever get numbers for the top 30? Japan Game Charts (Sources Famitsu) just updated today with SW3 numbers at 181.432, and Graces at 164.709. I'd imagine that these are as of last week.

I don't really recall us getting numbers for last week's top 30.
Famitsu releases top 30's a week late. We just used to get leaks earlier. The update you're seeing is at the end of the last thread.

Ahh, silly me, how did I miss that? :p

So let's see:

Famitsu Dec 14-20

22./02. [WII] Tales of Graces (Namco Bandai Games) - 21,400 / 164,709 (-85%)
23./15. [WII] Samurai Warriors 3 (Koei) - 20,918 / 181,432 (-38%)

So I suppose we can expect another 20,000 odd for SW3, hopefully at least enough to pass the 200,000 mark. :)

Edit: OH! That week ended at the 20th, so we're missing an extra week of sales! :O

Funniest thing in that chart is Animal Crossing Wii. Probably selling at 1000yen a pop, only reason why it's on the charts.

Well the Famitsu data you linked to there is for two weeks ago, so Samurai Warriors 3 should be around 230k this week. Should end up somewhere just below 300k overall, which means LanceStern is a sad panda right now.

So PSP2 is an interesting case. It's not the growth that I think they wanted, but those are still pretty good sales. Had a little bet going with king duckster. I think I shall treat myself to duck confit.

Well, it's still behind the last one, but it's showing really solid legs.

Next week will probably give us a better idea if it has a chance of beating PSP1.

Decent numbers. Expected more out of NSMBWii though. Don't think it's supply since Vinnk, and the rest of JGaf has said the game has been readily avaliable.

No we haven't. Vinnk and I both agree that it's been hard to find - notably during the week covered by these numbers. He said he had a friend struggling to buy it at all. Someone else said that it was sold out in Tokyo and being bought-in used at 90% of retail price.

Around me it was sold out in around 50% of stores, including some of the biggies like Furuhon Ichiba and Joshin (where Wii hardware was also sold out).

FFXIII performance is exactly like Dissidia's.

First four weeks (week - sales - drop):

37 470,152
38 132,667 (-71.8%)

40 26,729 (-56.2%)

52 156,539 (-68.9%)
01 96,751 (-38.2%)
02 43,697 (-54.8%)
We can see the biggest difference between the PSP releases came in the week of the New Year holiday. If FFXIII follows the same pattern, we'll still see a huge drop this week (-85% or worse), a softer drop next week, then back to regular drops.
Code:
-- FFXII --
11 1,840,397
12 217,438 (-88.2%)
13 91,078 (-58.1%)
14 45,495 (-50.0%)
Code:
-- FFXIII --
51	1,501,964
52 188,511	-87.4%
01 112,000	-40.6%
02
So, in hindsight, it's not that unexpected. =P

(Warning: the original analysis was with Famitsu numbers. I'll updated them with Famitsu and see if anything changes. I doubt, though.)

I just want to see it nab 2 million in Japan. That would be some feat, given the install base. With only 200,000 left, it should get there.

Really, I thought it was in line with previous games in the series when install bases were taken into account.

The sales of Vesperia PS3 version and the sales of Graces should have made Namco take notice. Than again this is Namco...

Exactly, the success of Vesperia on PS3 doesn't tell them jack.

They will take that sign and make the next game on anything but the PS3.

Though it is the holiday period, so it might not hold up as well in the long run.
