And hopefully the current gen debut of a rather large racing franchise?

schuelma said:Not to completely excuse Nintendo, but at least in terms of looking at Wii/PS3 I think its worth noting that Wii had a much bigger late November/December lineup (at least in terms of Japanese-centric releases). Q1 looks incredibly bad for the Wii, but I don't it necessarily means all development has dried up.

This is the one I don't get. If I were publishing PSP games, you'd better believe that every single one would have a Wii counterpart - released the same exact day. Yes it adds a bit to the budget, but shouldn't enough so not to recoup the cost, and possibly hit upon that surprise 3rd party hit.donny2112 said:* PSP games aren't getting ported to it.

Bel Marduk said:I agree with this. I think SE should port KH BBS to the Wii because it's likely to loose sales in the West because of PSP's poor SW performance...and the fact that most people in the West probably buy the games for the Disney factor which the Wii has and PSP really doesn't.
BlazingDarkness said:I thought the big SE PSP games (Crisis Core/Dissidia) have sold well in the west?
donny2112 said:* There aren't PS2 games to port from, even though most weren't getting a Wii port, anyways.
* PSP games aren't getting ported to it.
* Development cycles have progressed so that most everyone not doing handheld work is now firmly in the HD development world.
This means that all Wii gets are the exclusives, and we know how that goes. :lol
gunther said:then why are psp arent getting ported?, dummy question.
Its like the entire industry avoided the wii on purpose since the beggining. Obviosly nintendo has some responsibility and third parties to. I read these threads regularly so i know the common reasons. I only would like to know what really is going on backgrounds. There has to be a big reason of why third parties avoided the wii.

I don't remember if Crisis Core did.

That's a pretty huge success. I'd argue it's probably up there with some of the best selling third party Wii games, especially once you get past games like Guitar Hero 3, Carnival Games, and Mario & Sonic At The Olympics.
Well, I imagine the main issue there is that the Wii is significantly more powerful than the PSP, and might cause the game to look all janky on the system.Bel Marduk said:Thing is that while the PSP can sell FF games fine, can it sell KH well enough outside of Japan seeing as how the main fanbase for KH is Disney fans? It has the FF fans nailed but that's about it. That's why I think not porting to the Wii would be stupid since it'd sell really well, plus I doubt a port would cost much.

I mean, surely there must be *some* reason they're keeping it off there.
That or Sony is paying them.
DMeisterJ said:Well, how will we know if the PSP has 'Disny Fans' if they don't put KH on there? Does the Wii have 'Disney Fans'? How do you measure 'Disney Fans'?
Ah ok, it sounds really nice to get all those NPD numbers i must say! I dont think that i followed the NPD sales numbers that much before, so unfortunately i missed when he posted all those numbers.Frillen said:Yeah, he gave out numbers for pretty much eveything from NPD every month ;p.
Wow, that sounds really nice indeed! Pity that we dont get all of these NPD numbers in these days as well :\Culex said:Yea, it was nice. We got FULL (and i do mean everything) spreadsheets of every publisher and what they sold for the month. It was so easy to compare sales across platforms.
Nirolak said:That's a pretty huge success. I'd argue it's probably up there with some of the best selling third party Wii games, especially once you get past games like Guitar Hero 3, Carnival Games, and Mario & Sonic At The Olympics.
Bel Marduk said:Because the Disney games on the Wii have sold miles better than any of the ones on the PSP. Disney are putting Epic Mickey on the Wii for a reason.
I was just indicating that while it would not be at the very top of the Wii third party list, there's still a fair chance it could be in the top ten with sales like that.jeremy1456 said:Now why would we exclude specific games for Wii?
Because it makes your argument more viable?
DMeisterJ said:That's all well and good, but you have to remember that this game has an ad-hoc multi-player mode, and SE is trying to capitalize on the success of MH, and to a lesser extent, Phantasy Star with this in Japan. Doing multi-player on the Wii would consist of throwing up servers and doing much more work than an ad-hoc multi-player mode. The MP is what SE is hoping will keep this game on the charts as it did for MH.
You've also got to understand that there is more to putting a game on the Wii than the bottom line of sales. If that were the case, every game would be made on the Wii and DS since they have the highest install bases. The reason this game is on the PSP is because of the aforementioned MP mode most likely, and because KH has been on like four platforms already (PS2, DS, GBA, Mobile, and now PSP), so they've decided to spread the love around for this game.
Shouldn't we have MC software numbers in a couple hrs?schuelma said:Oh my Gods we need some numbers around here.
Segata Sanshiro said:I really don't think anyone needs to worry about Kingdom Hearts. It'll sell well, even in NA. The PSP market is essentially dead in NA, but big hits can still make big sales. It's kind of like the latter day N64.
As to why it's not on Wii as well, mostly I think it comes down to SE traditionally not being a multiplatform developer. I mean, if the Wii was some kind of third party game-selling juggernaut, it would be hard to ignore, but it's not, so...
