bad gameplay lol
The legs on Tomodachi Collection are absolutely ridiculous.

Narutimate Accel 3 is lower than I thought it'd be, numbers-wise.

And WOW @ MW2. Seriously.

Tomodachi's legs are monstrous, Mario's legs are sexy, and Tales' sales are atrocious.

I'm really surprised by MW sales, WOW.

Does anyone find it interesting that it seems Pokemon Gold/Silver seem to be getting boosted with the approach of the holidays and yet Dragon Quest IX and Monster Hunter 3 aren't? Anyone have speculation to why? I know the PokeWalker has helped with reselling Pokemon, but surely two of the other biggest RPG's of the year would see some kind of boost.

Because parents are getting Pokemon games for their kids for Christmas, and because it's the "in" thing right now amongst kids obviously.

It's a mainline title that hasn't reached the sales of the first week of SYMPHONIA 2 on Wii.

But why wouldn't Dragon Quest be on those same lists? Pokemon has been "in" since the mid-90's. I understand it's popularity, but at the same time DQ is just as popular.

Just noticed PokePark's small drop. Not bad at all. I'm sure the lack of Pokemon on Wii for awhile has been helpful in that respect.

Being the number 2 selling game of the week, with 150K sales, seems pretty good to me.

143K can't be that bad...
May I suggest reading through the previous three Media Create thread?

They'll illuminate the situation with Tales of Graces quite well.

Going with thedrill.no-blog Media Create will have almost the same hardware numbers with Famitsu for the week.

The Tales number is horrible people. Tales of Vesperia on PS3 which is a year old port sold 220k first week. I think Graces only beat TOS2 and Vesperia on 360 (it was impressive attach rate tho). When we consider there are 9m Wii out there and only 143k tales sold, then it's horrible.

Edit: TOS2 sold 137k i believe in it's first week, it was also a Summer release. This one is a holiday release and it's a bigger more advertised title. There could be many reasons why it sold like this, but in just talking about the number we have now, it's a horrible number.

Tales of Symphonia 2 opened with 151,138.

Yes, it even lost to TOS2.

Oh i thought it was 137k, so I stand corrected.

Edit: is that the Famitsu number? I checked it it's indeed 137k first week under MC.

With those weak sales of ToG you think the next main line Tales game will be for the PS3? Heck they could go multiplatform releasing it on both for the PS3/360 since they have an engine up and running for both systems. The next Tales game on both those systems could easily sale, 100k+ for the 360 plus 300k+ for the PS3.

I think Team Symphonia is already making the next Tales for HD, I could be wrong. The real question is whether if BNamco ever makes a Tales game on the Wii after this?

No if they are released the same day.

If they release the game simultaneously on both consoles I severely doubt it would reach 100k+ sales on the Xbox 360.

oof, doesn't this make Graces the lowest selling non-port Tales game?

There's a 100% chance I'm wrong though

I'm calling it right now - Tales of Vesperia 2 will be announced exclusively for the PS3.
I don't see much reason to leave the Xbox 360 out, since the game will eventually be released internationally.

It's not like buying exclusivity for this title is really going to help the PS3 in Japan in any significant way.

Are we talking first week sales?

Depends on the tracker you use - one has Symphonia 2 ahead and the other Graces.

Furthermore, Vesperia's first week on 360 was lower than Graces.

Why was PSP left out for Graces?

I'm not doubting that it will come to the 360, but if anything it'll be a late port.

To be fair, at the time the Xbox 360 had an install base of about 600,000, while the Wii has an install base of 9 million.

There's obviously not a linear relationship between sales and install base, but still, there were barely any people to even sell the game to on Xbox 360.

The thing is, Tales of Graces is up against Final Fantasy XIII. You don't really expect people to finish Tales of Graces in 1 week then move onto Final Fantasy XIII right? If people had to choose, they would go for FF13.

Beating Vesperia 360 is that great of a talking point though :lol

Going the FF13 route seems smarter for that scenario.

And how would a PSP version help Graces internationally?

Internationally, we're gonna need Tales of Vesperia on PS3 first. :(

Because most people already have DQ9 and people who care less about this game has already finished it and moved on. For those who really still care about DQ9 they would still be playing, but that's definitely not amongst the "kids" who loves their Pokemon.

735k in 3 weeks? Low, considering we are talking about 3 of the biggest weeks of a year. Make that 2 weeks.

Tomodachi Collection is just a testiment on how a broad appeal can attract solid sales over time. And how long since this game been released? Five months and still having solid sales?

If New Super Mario Bros. Wii has such sales, it will surely beat the DS version over time in Japan.
