PSP and PS3 are gonna get pipped to the post by DS and Wii, aren't they? Nintendo must be grateful for their holiday spikes.

430k of Ninokuni still sitting on shelves. Hino better pray the word of mouth is good, or he's going to be facing his first major bomba.

Yep, certainly looks like it. It's not like PSP hasn't had a huge boost to take it just into the lead, though, and the race was close enough before the spikes anyway.

Yo guys, Sony should just can the PSP rite? rite ? derp herp.

Weeellll... hardware sales driven entirely by a single game, no other games in the top 20, even at this time of year, sales across the world abysmal...

I think there's an argument for supporting the PSP in Japan for a while yet, but I don't think it's as rosy as it appears from this week's HW sales, to be honest.

Give me a break. It's worse than Black / White.

Well, the last "big" psp game was released more than a month ago (Tactics Ogre, and wasn't even that big) and psp doesn't have games that usually get a boost on the holidays. Also the cut off is pretty high.

Possibly - depends on how the DS holds up next week, and how much further the PSP drops.

Of course. MHP3 alone is bigger than anything released in December in past years for psp.

Not that calendar year winners really mean anything if the fabled MOMENTUM is there for SCE.

Either way, pretty amazing to see such an evenly pegged race for 2010.

Yup. Many of them are obviously repurchases too. Not that this doesn't affect the DS either.

The game was restocked yesterday (Wednesday) at major shops. The Yodobashi in Shinjuku West received at least 1000 copies yesterday, but I couldn't go back and check to see if it was sold out.

Looking at previous HW number PS3 will be the big looser this December, taking the place of PSP at 2009.

Ni no Kuni better have a 100k+ second week.

If anything, Donkey Kong Returns is more likely to exceed 100K again than Ni no Kuni. In fact, I think DKR's momentum will build up like Mario Sports Mix has.

Yeah, MSM has certainly impressed - perfect game to release at the perfect time of year?

Fun fact from Famitsu commenting GT5 opening week numbers 2 weeks ago:

''Low numbers for GT5 but legs at holidays are expected.
Mario Sports Mix has low sell-through, good legs are not expected''

These guys must live at a different world.

What joke? The series was born in PS2 and reached its actual level of popularity on PSP. When Sony decided to release an expensive handheld with online and PS2-lite capabilities, they made possible something as Monster Hunter to happen, so again I ask, what joke?

Sorry Chris, but I don't understand that, what's wrong about that? It's one of the biggest games this year, is only normal it drives hardware.

I've been saying that since forever...

Ninokuni did even worse than I had expected. I didn't think it will hit a million, but at least hope it'll hit 500,000.

Slightly steeper decline for Tales of Graces F than Tales of Vesperia PS3.

MHP3 seems to be holding well - will be interesting to see shipment numbers, considering that it's still not regularly stocked on Amazon.co.jp...

PS3 is doing more then fine in Europe, when the worldwide Q3 shipment numbers come out the PS3 should be fairly flat compared to last years Q3.

Yes.

Every year, Nintendo has some game that take a backseat to whatever other big hit they're advertising, yet that secondary game ends up doing some surprising numbers.

Last year, it was Poke Park Wii.

It should be able to make it to 400k eventually, which certainly isn't too bad.

Nothing really bad, just further confirmation that huge software releases at a system take the air from the rest software.

I dont think that it is that relevant in Japan due to the release of FFXIII last December which boosted the PS3 hardware sales a lot.

Out of curiousity, were there any PSP games that were expected to sell more, but that got over-shadowed by the release of MHP3?
