We can't really say it's really a good opening for SRW. It's down from the first entry, and if it takes a sharp drop next week then it'll be in decline like most other franchises. When you start declining after the first entry didn't even reach 150k, that's not a good sign...

Biohazard 5 Alternative Edition sales remind of Biohazard Director's Cut from the PSone era. The sales are very similar so far.

Biohazard Director's Cut (1997/09/25):
Week 1 - 144,349
Week 2 - 44,820
Week 3 - 28,853
LTD - 514,122

The major difference is that the original Biohazard had already sold 1 Million units, making the ratio between the Director's Cut and the original release smaller than it is for Biohazard 5 and Alternative Edition. I don't expect Alternative Edition to sell anywhere near Director's Cut (until a budget release), but it's still remarkable how well it's selling.

There are also 16 new releases in the top 30 alone. It really isn't surprising Heavy Rain is not in the top 30 (being an western game etc.). A 76% drop second week is pretty common (Famitsu).

Only one game from the Everyone's Recommendation Selection in the top 30...
I guess its too early to tell if it sells or not for a platinum collection, but I was hoping for a little bit more steam behind the sales... Many good games that deserved better sales when they released.

Muramasa and One Piece had high first week sales for budget re-releases. Generally many titles from Everyone's Recommendation Selection had good openings.

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.
Not that this is going to be some awesome success, but I think Reginleiv might meet ducky's 50K prediction. Right now the supply is 42K , so one or two more smaller shipments and it will probably get there.

Really though, I'm glad it got good word of mouth. Maybe if Nintendo had actually supported it at retail it may have even gone to 75-100k.

how PS3's SO4 is doing in comparison to XBOX360 version.. i think it launched with much lower first week than XBOX360's first week.. but is it catching up?

It's not going to catch up, but it has sold half of what the 360 one did so far. It'll likely crawl to 150k or so due to heavy discounting attributed to a big initial shipment and low actual demand.

Hmm, total no-show by EA's Cel-da esque Shonen Kininden Tsumuji for DS.
Figures, as when I went to two stores in Shibuya on Sunday looking for it, neither of them carried it.

The thing is, if all S-E wanted to do was cash-in on the fan nostalgia without really pushing a relaunch of the brand, why didn't they just have some other developer make a more faithful remake? It makes no sense to me what they did here.
