It's a bit of a shame to see NSMB's legs undercut like this, but since it leads to more sales for SMG2 I can't really be complaining.

Yeah, after an 81% drop in its second week, followed by a 53% drop, with a shipment of 1 million, I have to think that Inazuma Eleven stabilized due to a price collapse.
Can anyone confirm this?

Just got back from Sofmap, Inzuma Eleven both versions were in the bargain bin for 3000 yen. (no clue when it was put in there though)

Checking used-trade in prices, they've collapsed almost unilaterally down to around 2000 yen, so while I can't straight say there is price cuts across the board, it certainly isn't showing price stability.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

Too little, too soon i guess. At least the next (main) game will be on a new system and probably wont be out before holiday season 2011....

I guess this WiiParty success moves NdCube from "What?!" to "Competent Nintendo 1st party studio" category.

Maybe this rhythm has the big advantage to prepare student to face up universities as difficult as the one in Tokyo, for example.

I remember that when I went from high school to the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology studying Chemistry, I was traumatized. The first year, I could sleep only 4-5 hours per night.

I've had Japanese teachers tell me that college in Japan is a joke. It's their last glimpse of freedom before entering the corporate world, so it's 4 years of doing nothing.

Definitely true. It's sort of compensation for a relatively more difficult high school curriculum. Companies spend as long as a year intensively training employees, too, so the demand for difficult universities is lacking.

There were no predictions for this week July 19-25 so I was bored and thought I could update the first 4 weeks we predicted to add the percentage ranking and do a little overall ranking by wins. I didn't update the posts here for those weeks to add the new ranking since it'd be a bit of a pain in the ass but long story short:

2009 10/26-11/01 Percentage Winner: schuelma (81,06%)
2009 11/02-11/08 Percentage Winner: Chris1964 (192,00%)
2009 11/09-11/15 Percentage Winner: Kurosaki Ichigo (57,01%)
2009 11/23-11/29 Percentage Winner: Kurosaki Ichigo (117,50%)

So then an overall ranking by wins (that's 1 point for the units ranking, 1 for the percentage one, if two or more people were tied 1 point to each one, if the same person won both rankings then 2 points) would be:

Code:
[B][U]Prediction League Overall Ranking[/U][/B]

1. Chris1964 8 victories
2. Kurosaki Ichigo 7 victories
3. MemoirsofMimi 3 victories
4. Takao 2 victories
4. KuwabaraTheMan 2 victories
6. Y2Kev 1 victory
6. schuelma 1 victory
6. 7Th 1 victory
6. Spiegel 1 victory
6. starship 1 victory
6. Brazil 1 victory
6. onken 1 victory
6. iifu 1 victory
6. Orgen 1 victory

Preorders for Pokemon Black / White begin tomorrow. I tried to find if there is any connection between comgnet final preorders and first week sales.

DATE [SYSTEM] TITLE (PUBLISHER) - FIRST WEEK SALES / COMGNET FINAL PREORDERS / (FIRST WEEK SALES / COMGNET FINAL PREORDERS RATIO)
29/01/04 [GBA] Pokemon Fire Red / Leaf Green (Pokemon Co.) - 955.337 / 1.459 / 655
16/09/04 [GBA] Pokemon Emerald (Pokemon Co.) - 643.987 / 1.347 / 478
28/09/06 [NDS] Pokemon Diamond / Pearl (Pokemon Co.) - 1.586.360 / 2.189 / 725
13/09/08 [NDS] Pokemon Platinum (Pokemon Co.) - 967.675 / 1.049 / 922
12/09/09 [NDS] Pokemon Heart Gold / Soul Silver (Pokemon Co.) - 1.408.980 / 2.298 / 613

If we take out third versions the average ratio is around 650 (655, 725, 613)
Emerald had a worse ratio and Platinum a best.

Some info from sinobi.

Preorders for Black / White started from today.
Sales target from GameFreak for it is to sell at least as much as Diamond / Pearl.
Big sales expected at holidays, many parents will buy it as Christmas gift.
Recommends buyers to reserve a preorder as soon as possible so that they have it at launch day.

Japanese release of Advance Wars: Days of Ruin is canned.

I honestly can't see that happening. I expect it to do better than HeartGold/SoulSilver but less than Diamond/Pearl. I'm expecting an end result of around 4.5 million.

The only way I can see it reach Diamond/Pearl levels is if 3DS owners decide to pick the game up as well.

Wow that's really sad :(. Isn't this only the 3rd time in Nintendo's history when a 1st Party game doesn't get a JPN release? (Startropics 2 and Pokemon Puzzle League being the two existing culprits)

Wait, isn't Days of Ruin that one that came out like 3 years ago? Or is there a new Advance Wars title I'm not aware of?

If it is, well, it's not terribly surprising that it's cancelled...

The original Advance Wars wasn't initially released in Japan but was bundled with the second game.

So yes, you are right. Those are the only two prior releases that never saw their way to Japan.

It's the one that was released in North America and Europe in January 2008.

I know that, that's why I didn't count it :D

Also technically you could say that Super Mario All Stars + World wasn't released in Japan either (it was only available with bundled systems in the US) but I didn't count that either since both games were released separately.

Yeah, basically a long time ago. :p I'm surprised they still haven't released it in Japan yet, but not surprised it's never going to be.

It's like if Namco went and said that they're not going to release Tales of Vesperia for PS3 in the US now.

I pre-ordered both Pokemon Black and White earlier today (don't plan on buying both of them, but can't decide which version to get yet), and my pre-order numbers for both versions were in the 150 range. In other words, at least 300 pre-orders at one store on day one.

9/18 is going to be a huge day.

I expect it at 5,5-6 million range. HG/SS will be close to 4,5m when it finally stops selling at 5 years.

I believe it can have the biggest opening ever in Japan (even if it is a Saturday release) but Nintendo has a very bad habbit to undership Pokemon.

5-6M really? I thought it'd do less than even D/P since it's legs will get cut shorter due to 3DS' release.

3DS should help its legs not cut them. At least that's what I see.

Black / White went from 0 to 539 at day 1.

Edit: Previous openings at comgnet
29/01/04 [GBA] Pokemon Fire Red / Leaf Green (Pokemon Co.) - not available
16/09/04 [GBA] Pokemon Emerald (Pokemon Co.) - 39
28/09/06 [NDS] Pokemon Diamond / Pearl (Pokemon Co.) - 383
13/09/08 [NDS] Pokemon Platinum (Pokemon Co.) - 98
12/09/09 [NDS] Pokemon Heart Gold / Soul Silver (Pokemon Co.) - 301

I pre-ordered both Pokemon Black and White earlier today (don't plan on buying both of them, but can't decide which version to get yet), and my pre-order numbers for both versions were in the 150 range. In other words, at least 300 pre-orders at one store on day one.

Great. Now we'll have people trying to extrapolate Comgnet preorders and cvxfreak preorders.
:p Thanks for the info. :)

This had made the rounds on Japanese blogs, but I'm curisous what neogaf thanks of this affecting game sales(especially with DS being an odd system, where as the system is peaking sales of 3rd party software have not followed the expected sales pattern based on past releases)

Okay, so yes this is from some low-level government's employee's survey of elementary schools, http://internet.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/column/teens/20100730_383520.html

but his feelings from on the ground surveys of school is over 70% of elementary ds owners have some type of piracy flash card device

This jives with blogs from developers who complain about the fact their child is the only one at school without a mothercon, and from retail stores about how the most important thing about 3ds is the piracy protection.

Sinobi brought it up as have other retail blogs: the lack of real-life pack-in for the new pokemon(previous figure/pokewaker) makes them worry about the sales of the game, as pirates can get the bonus this time.

Edit:

No connection but from a different blog: photo proof of IE3 in the bargain bin
