I seriously doubt Wii Sports Resort will drop by more than 50% in its third week. Personally, I'd be surprised if it's under 90K with just over 100K being more likely to me.

Alright thanks, I always wondered why donny excluded hardware numbers.

Media Create hardware comes out Thursday night. I'm usually not available to update the OP until Friday night, but it does get updated. :)

I don't think it's too far fetched to assume the majority of Dragon Quest sales went to people who already own the system right? So how much of an effect to you guys think it'll have on DSi sales?

I expect another 300k sold for dragon quest next week

Since you weren't paying attention I'll announce the announcement of the results.

No effect.

Come again tomorrow for the big reveal.

I wasn't asking what the results were, I was asking opinions, i've lurked around here awhile, I know when they usually come in, I was curious about what some people thought.

Was expecting more too tell you the truth, but that sure is a massive amount of copies sold during that week.

How do the numbers compare too the past 2 other installments from 7?

It's safe to say this week it'll be over 100k for the DS, so probably about 80k for the DSi. At least, that's what the leaked numbers (not Media Create) are saying.

How high does KH DS go?
I'd guess ~550k before it falls off the charts.

Glad to see Rorona doing okay - anybody knows how it's selling compared to older entries in the series?

The DS install base is bigger than the PS2's, so yeah, there aren't that many DQ fans left who don't already own a DS.

what we think is kind of irrelevant at this point. if you can take a hint.

Last week's DS sales:
DSi - 46,855
DSL - 7,507

What leaked numbers are you referring to? Famitsu had higher DS values for this week than Media Create.

That's not the point, I was asking for a simple opinion, it's nothing to get snippy about. There's nothing wrong with it.

I'm not being snippy, i was just trying not to answer your question directly in hopes you'd find your answer.

DQ9 should not cause a huge jump on dsi sales.

potential DQ9 owners have known about the announcement for a while and the effect of the game was spread out for months.

Was curious if maybe the DQIX explosion would push up software sales in other sections, but it looks like it won't. A shame.

Well 8 DS titles went higher up the charts this week versus last

Red DSi, though DSL sales went up ~40%, too.

well if donny's early MC hardware sales are any indication, it went up quite nicely

Why would it do that? People have DQ9 to play.

I'm surprised Resort held up as much as it did given it was DQ week. If you were going to buy a game this week, surely you go with the cultual phenomenen one, you can get something else next week.

Do remember a brand new DSi color launched as well so its not just DQ9 even though that moved a ton im sure too

I remeber that SquareEnix originally wanted DQ9 to sell 5 millions in Japan alone...well good luck with that.
If this sucker has legs they'll easily reach that milestone, I imagine it'll be a big seller for a long time to come.

Wonder why Square decided to release KH and DQ so close to each other. Doesn't really make much sense.

Because DQIX was supposed to be released in Q1 this year, and KH DS was supposed to be late Q2. Both games ended up getting delayed. Lol.

Wonder if they will release KH:Birth by Sleep and FFXII this year in Japan. If so then highest Square year ever?

That's very unlikely. Judging by DQVIII's sales it should sell ~600k copies in its second week (and this number is under the assumption that DQIX will have a higher drop than DQVIII in its second week, and I personally doubt that this will happen).

Kingdom hearts passed 500k on the ds , PSP version will sell +million properly
More than a million? KH2 sold ~1,2 million copies (without rereleases), I doubt that a PSP spin-off will reach these numbers.

Good for Squenix, and for everyone who wants them to make more traditional RPGs.

Terrible software sales outside the top 5 though. Not all boats always rise with the tide.

If i'm not mistaken, KHBBS isn't a spinoff, more like a prequel.

Wow, great number for DQIX. Besides the Top 10, gaming in japan is dead.

This statement means nothing. "Except for all the good selling games, games aren't selling so good."

Looks like gaming in Japan isnt dead just yet. But its sad that only old IPs actually sell well these days. Except "Wii (insert name)" games.
