I don't know if I should be happy or sad that that Kingdom Hearts game is doing well. Has anybody here played it yet?

Next week's numbers will be very interesting.

Why should you be sad? A bad game selling alot doesn't hurt you.:D

Bleh, at least ARF is faring slightly better than MMV's past titles. Should be around 40k.

Nice numbers for KH: DS. I'm sure most people weren't expecting it to sell quite this well looking back on the GBA version's performance. Will be interesting to see how BBS does.

I like Kingdom Hearts, I just didn't like Kingdom Hearts II.

If this game is like the former I'll be happy. If not, blegh.

Hmm I think you might be right. In fact the List is starting to get very small as far as Playstation brand period.
If I had to guess, I'd say that in about eight months we'll start to see the PS2 essentially disappear from the list all together and the PS3 to stay in the 2-3 game range, but see a fairly large growth in the number of PSP titles on the list.

I'm still conflicted on whether the Wii game count will get smaller than it currently is or not however.

Edit: Updated my phrasing, since what was there earlier read incorrectly.

If the Go really takes off and they don't track digital downloads, the PSP count could get smaller, list-wise.

PS3 won't disappear from the list. It's going to get much more support than the Gamecube ever did.

I should probably rephrase. For the PS3, I meant stay at its 2-3 game per week level, as opposed to taking off to say a 5-9 game level like the Wii has been getting, mostly due to a lot of the Japanese targeted games seem to be moving to handhelds even more heavily than before.

But yeah, rereading what I wrote it makes it seem like I mean it won't show up anymore, I should go edit that.

It all depends how WSR and HM3 do. If they energizes the brand there will be more Wii game up there. If they fail (which seems a tad unlikely) its gonna be mostly portables until FFXIII.

Edit: Yeah, it is already mostly portables. I just mean moreso.

Didn't consider this. PSP am d00med (although not really since the sales will likely go up, but be "invisible" to us).

This week I can't stop thinking about how much higher Infinite Space could have been if Sega had gotten another shipment out. :\

A really big if at that price point. IMO the 3000 will still be the dominant seller.

Stop fucking up, sega.

ouch at infinite space >.<

Sega and Fucking up is pretty much synonymous. no point hoping against it.

Can't blame Sega too much. There are STILL brand new copies of Nights Wii (currently selling for around $10) that they can't get rid of. That would make me a bit shell shocked too.

Their move is understandable.. but still dumb.

I love it how Gaffers always blame the consumer, the retailer or the publisher, but never EVER blame Nintendo for their fucked up manufacturing policies. Typical :lol

What's wrong with their manufacturing policies? I missed something...

Uh... there haven't been any severe DS card shortages (as far as I'm aware) since FFIII DS. Infinite Space probably just wasn't given that big a shipment, to be honest.

Or are you getting at something else?

Are their DS cart manufacturing policies a problem in Japan? I thought it was only in Europe and maybe other territories?

So SEGA ordered a ton more and that evil Nintendo said, "Screw you Sega! You only get this many!"

Poor Sega.. I had no idea... I feel bad for making fun of them now.

The blame is clearly on Nintendo.

I kinda asked this last week, if Sega alone was to blame. Did Sega request more than 45k to be made? Or were they cautious and just ordered enough to meet retailer pre-orders and want more now (mere weeks before DQIX is suppose to be released) due to the demand? I'm guessing the latter so, yes, Sega would be the one to blame in that case. There's no real way of knowing though.

PS2 will never finally die until all the ADV companies move to the PSP/360. Just like how the Dreamcast refused to die due to various ADV ports years after.

Besides, you still have RPGs like NUGA CEL! to be released.

I'm curious to see if it'll do about the same in the US via DD.

Certainly overly cautious. The space simulation genre isn't exactly hot right now. surprise hits do happen, but this is the same Sega that orders hundreds of thousands of units of their shitty in house games that gets a price collapse shortly. So, it if quacks like a duck, you know the rest.

LOL. That brings back memories.

What games other than WSR are launching today?

I plan to pick up Wii Sports Resort after work but I hear reports that they didn't ship enough stand alone M+ attachments to go around.

I blame Sega for the shortage.

the BEST re-release of MHP2G is going to reach a million at that rate lol.

speaking of it, what other games' BEST version has hit a million? i don't remember any other re-releases getting that many sales.

also, any word about how's the launch of WSR going? long lines? desert land?

Should be interesting to see how the WSR rush is here. I'll probably end up picking it up if I can find it.

Bunch of shit coming out today. 360 is getting Mamoru-kun, Time Leap, and some multiplat stuff. PS3 gets that new RPG game that new Alterier and I think the new Agarest Senki game, plus multiplat stuff like Bionic Command and Blazblue. It should be interesting to see how Blazblue fares against the Guilty Gear sales.

I went to pick up Wii Motion Plus so I can finally play Tiger 10 the right way and there was no one in the store at 10am. No lines, no fanfare, just tons of Wii Sports Resort copies everywhere and no one buying them. Well, I take that back, two people came in to buy copies while my wife and I were looking around Bic Camera. I'm hoping that things will pick up as we get closer to the weekend.

Just picked up my copy of Wii Sports Resort and the store was the busiest I've seen in months. Tons of people bought WSR and extra WM . Wouldn't be surprised to see 500K opening week.

Sorry, but this made me chuckle:

You are right, since it would be a new thing blaming Nintendo for 3rd parties "fuck ups"... Sega and retailers just underestimated demand the answer is that simple.

Depends on where people are at, I guess. In my area, things are usually more active on the weekend, unless the game is huge. For example, Resident Evil 5 saw a lot of traffic in the store near where I work, same with Smash Bros. and Metal Gear Solid 4. Wii Sports Resort has been getting a lot of advertising around here, so I expected more activity on the first day. Other areas may end up with different crowds.

In the Wii Top 50:

#10 SD Gundam G Gemeration Wars
#14 Arc Rise Fantasia
#15 Monster Hunter G
#21 Muramasa: The Demon Blade
#22 Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo
#27 JU-ON: The Grudge
#32 Arc Rise Fantasia (Different Edition)
#33 Devil Kings 2 Heroes Best Price
#35 Little King's Story
#47 Monster Hunter G (Different Edition)

Not too bad, nice to see key MMV games in the Wii Top 50 at least. Maybe Muramasa will have legs? Dragon Ball's nice to see as well! :D

Edit: Rest of the Wii Top 100:

#52 Tales of Symphonia 2
#56 Fatal Frame 4
#58 Boom Blox
#62 Harvest Moon: Animal Parade
#63 Dragon Quest Swords
#71 428
#78 Shiren 3
#81 Sky Crawlers
#85 Tatsunoko vs. Capcom
#88 Let's Tap
#89 Reel Fishing: Angler's Dream
#91 Zack and Wiki
#93 Fragile
#94 Bomberman Blast
#96 Sonic and the Black Knight
#98 Takt of Magic
#100 Phantom Brave

Almost though Fragile wouldn't make it! Shiren 3's a big welcome! :D Reel Fishing's a tad surprising. Tatsunoko's also good to see hanging in there! Same with Let's Tap!

Edit: AND Zack and Wiki! :D

Hope these are at least hints towards these having some legs. Slowly but surely they'll do well. :)

On the PS2 issue;

According to Garaph (with manual checking of MC threads to supplement weeks where Garaph has no data), the PS2 has had at least 1 game in every week with three exceptions

- November 2008 final week.
- May 2009 final week.
- This week.

also can we please keep Amazon rankings out of here unless they actually provide useful information.

I've now seen several reports that WSR is doing extremely well. Can anyone confirm this? It looks like this is what CVX has seen, as well.

I'd also like to know more about the PSP. Has there been more activity in the PSP section in 2009 than there was in, say, early 2008? Has the system noticably picked up steam in terms of "store activity?"
