Media Create Sales: June 28-July 4

16/10/08 [WII] Wii Music (Nintendo) - 50.000 (15%) / 98.865 / 402.539

08/07/10 [WII] Wii Party (Nintendo) - 52.242 / 19,40%
08/07/10 [WII] Wii Party (Remote Set: Pink) (Nintendo) - 8.982 / 32,90%
08/07/10 [WII] Wii Party (Remote Set: White) (Nintendo) - 5.479 / 19,80%

Heh, funny resemblance, shipping 330k and ~325k respectively, with the game-only SKU on the ~50k. But something tells me that's as far as their resemblance will go.

A bit late about predictions but lots of releases, which ones should we pick? Bigger ones should be Fire Emblem, both Pawapuro and DQM Battle Road Victory. Then there's also Momotaro, Last Ranker, Beyblade, Odoru Daisousasen and Naruto Kizuna Drive. Also the usual problem of missing MC Top10. I'd probably go with the first 6 titles I mentioned and use Dengeki if needed.

Naruto, maybe. It came out before PS3's slim bump last year. Raging Blast came out in the middle of it, in November last year, and still bombed compared to the other Dragon Ball game on the system Burst Limit. I doubt a sequel will improve on that.

Is each point a 1k preorder?

Because if it is WKC2 might be performing beyond expectations.

You are right. I mixed them.

The problem is that the original Sengoku Basara was drastically altered for the Western release so it little-resembled the original Japanese game. Basara 3 on the other hand is going to be intact, so calling it Devil Kings 3 doesn't make any sense. It would be like calling the original Japanese Pokemon games Pokemon Red and Blue, even though Red and Green is far more appropriate. :p

Might have been a genius move bundling the first game with the second. I wonder if more companies will do that to stimulate sequel sales of average selling first editions.

It's usually not wise to project such accuracy onto comgnet. I have seen certain titles seem to have a 1k=1 point ratio, but they usually seem to be Nintendo or other expanded audience type stuff.

Absolutely not. This is the sales from one retail chain in Japan. They have their own method of determining points, and it could not be what you suggest. Comgnet also does preorders, but those also are not directly extractable to total Japanese preorders/sales.

schuelma said:

It would still never be 1 point = 1K sales at Comgnet, though.

Yeah, obviously not literally- I just meant that sometimes for some software the that's what the ratio roughly ends up being.

You should only compare COMGNET with themselves, even then, there still isn't a perfect correlation.

All we can conclude is WKC2 probably sold less than the 1st iteration (which is no surprise given first day sales). Also, it may have sold more than Wii Party (casual titles are usually underrepresented on COMGNET).

Dragon Quest X re-confirmed for Wii.

From watching the Iwata Asks videos on the Nintendo Channel, it seems like the series really belongs on portables, though. Like going to consoles would be a step back. Usually DQ isn't multi-platform, but with Nintendo owning both platforms, I wouldn't rule out a dual Wii/3DS release. It's definitely still for Wii, though.

Dragon Quest goes to the system with the biggest active userbase. That's how it always works.

How far after launch did DS hit 10m? If DQX comes late enough, they could be about the same. :lol

Edit:
It'll likely be a Wii exclusive, but with how they lauded the "get together and play" nature of DQIX, it seems like they'd have to give that up some to stay on a console with DQX.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

Wouldnt be on Wii if thats what the case - but they will sell their +3 million on Wii. Big IPs which cater to core and casual audiences tend to sell well on Wii.

3DS will have a larger install base than the Wii by the time DQ X releases, I bet you absolutely nothing that will be the case.

DQ X would sell millions on any console but the 360, even on that it would probably do a million.

Horii said DQX for Wii isnt "that far off" - so if its an holiday 2011 or early 2012 launch Wii would still be "way" ahead of the 3DS.

There is nothing wrong with a more singleplayer focused DQ main game like..... every title besides of DQ IX .

Two weeks ago leak was also fishy but it was right in the end, with some incredible discrepancies between trackers. Now this is Famitsu vs Famitsu but still must be both a case of WKC2 collapsing on the weekend and Wii Party booming up.

According to that release list, the DQ series will be on the 3DS in some form. Maybe they can refine some of the newly-introduced social elements of IX into whatever it is they end up bringing out on the DS. A FFXIII/FFXIII Agito type deal would be amazing.
