How does that compare to Blaze Blue CT?

Damn I was hoping it would sell alot better then this.

It at least out did the PSP version of CT right?

Edit: Downloaded the Data base and it seems at least if I am reading it right it did almost a full 15k better then the original. Hopefully they consider it good but I still wish it did better damn it.

It's clearly eating into the New Super Mario Bros Wii market, as illustrated by its rapid decrease.

Was I wrong to expect higher from Inazuma 3?

Should do well over the next few months, though. Might still be around for the holidays, even.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

um the last game started with 297.310 first week so it's a very big improvement.

And the last game isnt even one year old...

Evidently, Nintendo don't want NSMBW to break the record too hard, lest their next effort look bad in comparison.

Are those good numbers for Blazblue? My understanding is that it's a bit of a niche property. Would I be correct in saying that?

The first week of this game is pretty much at the LTD of the previous game.

Considering fighting games have terrible legs that's not really saying much, but yeah it has done better.

Looks like the World Cup has given Level 5 the marketing push they wanted in IE3. First week has a nice 200k+ increase over IE2. Good stuff.

good to see SMG2 having better legs than the first one. btw, isn't a period where sales increase in japan coming soon?

Mm. I'm surprised it's holding so well. We're into week 6 now, and it's still around 140k beyond SMG which was just starting its holiday bump.

If it holds at around this level it will be ahead of SMG LTD for another couple of weeks, taking us through most of the holiday bump - SMG did approx. 360k over four holiday weeks, and by the time it's over SMG will likely only be around 100-130k ahead of SMG2.

I wouldn't like to jump the gun here, but with Obon coming up (doesn't it typically provide a mini holiday-bump?) and the decent legs of Mario titles, it does seem possible that SMG2 will actually make it pretty close to SMG's LTD...

Congratulations (twice) to Chris1964, flawless victory again.

Oh, and two other points of interest:

-- Ghost Trick plummets 12 places and now looks unlikely to be a slow-burn seller, pending some really impressive turnaround

-- Art Academy drops just 6% and seems to be holding very, very well. Will be interesting to see where this one goes...

Regarding BlazBlue, it is worth noting there was a shift to the PS3 version this time (first week / LTD):

[PS3] BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger (Arc System Works) - 33,768 / 57,796
[360] BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger (Arc System Works) - 24,812 / 36,065

[PS3] Blazblue Continum: Shift (Arc System Works) - 50,000 / NEW
[360] Blazblue Continum: Shift (Arc System Works) - <16,000 / NEW

Total first week:
Calamity Trigger = 59,000
Continuum Shift < 67,000

First week sales probably increased, but not that by that much. Regardless, I'm on the camp that thinks this is a good result.

John Harker

Definitely doesn't make things up as he goes along.
Xenoblade got a 2nd shipment, yah? Do we consider it successul (enough) yet? That's not a bad drop from last week.

That big drop is really strange after such a great second week. Maybe there are some stock problems?

I will only consider it a success if it sells well enough to convince NOA to localize it.

Perhaps, and as you say, the fall-off is odd after it seemed to be holding so well. Did we ever get first shipment estimates for it? Perhaps it's fallen foul of the cart manufacturing issue that seems to hit certain mid-range titles where it's unclear how many need to be shipped, and by the time demand is recognised it takes too long to turn out more?

It was released on the 19th and originally scheduled for the 24th.

Ghost Trick LTD will be higher than Last Ranker LTD. Just watch! It's so depressing seeing Last Ranker vanish off the COMGNET ranking completely now. It means that there is no increase at all in preorders while other games are getting more, even though the game is coming out next week. :(

Xenoblade is still going pretty strong. What was the critical reception of this game overseas? It looks fantastic by all means and I'm praying that both Xenoblade and Last Story make it over here, because honestly those two look like the best JRPG efforts of this entire generation so far.

I would label it as a moderate success at this point. Seems like it broke 110,000 units at this point. Hoping this helps create a better environment for The Last Story.

Yoshichan

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
I saw everyone and their mother buy Blazblue in Japan lately... weird it "only" sold 50k. How much did the original sell?

Not actually that important
Hey Chris, if you were a Poker player (are you?) I would have no doubt your fav hand were straight/straight flush ;)
I especially love that Digimon one... 32109 :D

First week was just a 2-days figure rather than the standard 4-days. Thus it makes the 2nd week bigger than usual since it covers days 3-9 of sales rather than 5-11. Then the 3rd week drop off is bigger to compensate.

July 15th predictions will be a niiice spot the bomba edition.

Hey guys. Going back and gathering the hardware numbers for the last monthish, there seems to be a slight discrepancy between the two sources I use: what do you have?

For the combined weeks of April 26 - May 2 and May 3 - May 9, Geimin says PS3 is 49,916. However, going by Famitsu's individual weekly images I get 25,952 and 23,958 respectively, which add to 49,910. Granted, Famitsu uses stupid small fonts (why I check Geimin's text listings to begin with), but I don't see which of the regular mixups could account for me ending up 6 too low.
Now that famitsu hw for the last week of first half came out we have the answer.

The correct number is 49.916, so just add 6 to one of the two seperate weeks.
What I did was to change 25.952 to 25.958.

Random Info from 2-Ch:

Due to change of "open price" to 120G You can get a 120GB ps3 new now for less then 23,000 from TOY"S R US effectivily about a 5,000 yen price drop,. the average price of 120gb ps3 new is now down to around 25,000(although according to kakaku that's only a 2000 yen drop), next weeks hardware sales should be enough to bump PS3 back up over wii.
