Next week will be really big for DSi, considering the already-sold-out Love++ DSi bundle...

That one was only sold online, at least at Yodobashi. Anyone have any idea what the bundle numbers are?

I really want the Blue DSi LL. But alas, I already own a white one and the 3DS is upon us. :lol

DS Lite 3,108

PSP go 718

Not used to sales-age question : Will DSi skyrocket again for a final glorious lead, or do we have to painfully endure this slowdown until 3DS ?

Well something will surely happen with the price cut ;-)

There are 3 bundle versions (for each character). I am sure that many people will buy all 3 versions like they did (9 boxes of love plus to get the whole set of collection card).

Next week is yummy for predicting. Definites for me are: love++, tokimeki girls 3, summer vacation portable 2, atelier totori and mh frontier online. Could also add project diva budget (the next in this 'year of the budget re-release opening big'), SD Gundam and White Album.

That means 800k in Japan and 2,2M outside Japan for a PSP game. What are these guys smoking?

I can see PW selling a million in Europe, but I don't think it can break a million in the US. 800k in Japan sounds about right. 2.5 million sounds like a much more realistic target.

Next week releases (24/06/10)

[NDS] Love Plus + (Konami)
[NDS] Tokimeki Memorial: Girl's Side 3rd Story (Konami)
[PSP] My Summer Vacation Portable 2 (SCE)
[PSP] Hatsune Miku: Project Diva (Sega)
[WII] SD Gundam: Gashapon Wars (Bandai Namco)
[PS3] Atelier Totori: Alchemist of Arland 2 (Gust)
[PS3] White Album: Tsuzurareru Fuyu no Omoide (Aqua Plus)
[360] Monster Hunter Frontier Online (Capcom)
Asking about predictions again, I love using multipliers of 2 (and predicting for as many games as possible) so these 8 would be yummy in my book but I can see that Project Diva re-release, SD Gundam and White Album could be uninteresting and/or low sellers. Also the lack of leaks means that using just MC Top10 probably wouldn't be enough, Famitsu would take an extra week for their top30 and Dengeki isn't used that much here. So, any advice?

These 2 will possibly be outside top 10, maybe even outside top 20, which means we have to wait an extra week for Famitsu top 30. Hatsune Miku has two versions but I'm not sure Famitsu will combine them.

Galaxy 2, Xenoblade and GTA will possibly take 3 places from next week's Media Create top 10 which leaves 7 empty spots for the remaining 6 games.

I'm of the opinion we predict fot games that have good chances to enter Media Create top 10 or, worst case, Dengeki top 20.

As luck would have it, someone leaked a number of NPD LTDs in January 2008 on a public forum (not GAF, although I have no special secrets or sources).

As of January 2008, US NPD sales:
Xenosaga 1 - 513,000
Xenosaga 2 - 268,000
Xenosaga 3 - 115,000
Thanks :D

PS - If anyone owns a copy of Gremlins: Strip vs. Gizmo for the GBA, it might be a good idea to hold on to it.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

Wasn't that partly because it is a "local" game (made in Spain?) and therefore got more publicity there?

It's a game aimed mostly at kids (monster battles), made in Spain (sold 100k there) and there was also a bundle with camera.
You can't use it as a base to predict MGS:pW sales

Azalyn stopped giving Famitsu leaked numbers, so they started doing predictions based on the movement at their stores.

First week sales expectations (17/06/10 release)
[WII] Trauma Team (Atlus Co.) - 10.000
[PS3] Clash of the Titans (Bandai Namco) - 3.000 (1 million here we come)
[NDS] Tamagotchi no Pichi Pichi Omisecchi (Bandai Namco) - 10.000
[NDS] Kochira Katsushikaku Kameari Kouenmae Hashutsujo: Machiteba Tengoku! Makereba Jigoku! Ryoutsuryuu Ikkakusenkin Daisakusen! (Bandai Namco) - 4.000

First week sales expectations (19/06/10 release)
[NDS] Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective (Capcom) - 17.000 -> solid move
[NDS] Art Academy (Nintendo) - 14.000

Decent move for new DSi LL colors

Xenoblade and Fairy Tale still have nice move.

No number given for [PS3] Hakuoki: Junsouroku

There are some serious mistakes there.

Clash of the Titans PS3 = 3000
Tamagotchi = 10,000
Kochikame DS = 4000

Kochikame is this game: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ds/software/bckj/index.html

So lets start the predictions (thanks for the input Chris). We'll use MC if all games appear on the top10, if not, Dengeki top20 should cover them.

Prediction League June 21-27

[NDS] Love Plus + (Konami) -

But the MGS fanbase is pretty strong here (Europe). There would be nothing shocking about it selling a million copies provided word of mouth hits.

Okay, actually it wasn't a million. My bad. It's 850k in Europe, 640k in US and 330k in Japan. These are most likely shipment numbers, but considering the difference in marketing and vibe, PW should beat these numbers.

3 million worldwide is still a pretty unrealistic expectation for PW, but it should definitely do more than 2 million.

That was as of March 2010. If it has legs it would have sold 150k within the last 3 months.

It's a shipment number, so I wouldn't really factor in a shipment of another 150k in 2010 honestly.

Well, yes. The number will be higher by now because Gran Turismo Portable is now a platinum title and those are new copies.

In the first three months of the year Sony shipped more copies in Japan, NA and Europe

Japan = 10k
NA = 20k
Europe = 30k

With a new Pokemon movie coming out next month in Japanese theaters, it looks like Pokemon HGSS and Platinum should get some boosts. Perhaps HGSS can make it back onto the Top 10. I'm still waiting for that one to break 4 Million.

These tiny shipments show that the game has done selling and really mean nothing as the game is definetely overshipped in Japan and possibly overshipped in US (unless it sold a very big ammount through DD)

I'm wondering though, do you really think stuff like movies and TV series help in game sales? It's interesting to me how in some cases it seems to help (Pokemon, Inazuma), but in other cases it seems to have zero real impact (World Destruction, Layton, Tales). What are your thoughts on this? Personally I think it certainly has a lot to do with audience (kids are more likely to be more interested in a game if they enjoyed a movie or tv series) and also possibly the theme (sports and competition based stories, even fighting stuff, are more likely to gain cross-media traction because of the main visual connections of similar moves/players/teams/etc as opposed to story based stories where the movie or tv series is unrelated directly to the game).

With a new Pokemon movie coming out next month in Japanese theaters, it looks like Pokemon HGSS and Platinum should get some boosts. Perhaps HGSS can make it back onto the Top 10. I'm still waiting for that one to break 4 Million.

I don't see why the new theatrical release shouldn't give HGSS a slight push, but I'd equally expect it to lift Pokemon Ranger GS too. Which may or may not have a baring on what HGSS could do with Ranger's recent release. In fact, it might even do some marketing for Diamond & Pearl DS as well. I personally don't think HGSS will break 4 million any time soon though.

I think it has more to do with the relation the TV series or movie has with it's cross media counter video game. In terms of how much content of the game matters to the film or series. I also think it varies with the target audience. Kid are definitely more susceptible to marketing like this.
