I imagine so, I heard on the radio the other day apparently the last Monday of November is statistically the biggest day for online shopping of the year.

I know franchises are a big deal and all - but why exactly does this bomb while the same damn game with a more popular title released 10x over from the same publisher sells at least 10x better on average - even in its PS3 iteration? :p

why people keep mentioning assassin's creed 2 for ps3 only? isn't the game releasing in japan for 360 or you all came to the conclusion it's not woth mentioning it in a sales thread?

The PS3 version will be lucky to sell over 50k. Typically, the PS3 versions of western games outsell the 360 version at a ratio of about 3~4 to 1, so no it's not really worth mentioning.

I was referring to Disgaea similarities in my post (and respective lack of sales) - PSP ports of Disgaea did pretty well (I don't remember second one though).
I wonder how the game would sell if it was called Disgaea : La Pucelle though. They already cross-over characters anyhow.

Level 5 is not "slow" in "localization." They aren't a Western publisher. Anything they make needs to be published and localized by someone else. Nintendo has been handling Layton in the US and slow-rolling it for various reasons; Inazuma Eleven just got picked up for Europe but won't be coming to the US.

Also Layton was a huge hit over here. So basically you didn't say anything correct in this post. :lol

DQIX will be the top selling game of the year. There is no way HG/SS sells 1 million in the next four weeks.
This week HG/SS outsold FR/LG, according to Famitsu (three weeks later from Media Create).

e~ having said that, the localized version was quite late, so probably hasn't been long enough

I don't know about them having specifically chosen one prime time, but it's definitely the case that the eventual peak comes later in Japan, and Japan has no post-Thanksgiving bump, so if it's launching around the world in November/December there's not much reason for it to hit Japan first. Also see: launches of DS and Wii.

It will be too bad if they just stick with them combined, but FWIW at geimin.net for that week there's a note that says DSiLL sold 103,524 alone. Which leaves 31,934 for original DSi.

Not many of us expected this set of remakes would sooooo kick the shit out of the last ones, though. In less than 3 months, HeartGold/SoulSilver have done more than FireRed/LeafGreen did in 5 years.
