Happy to see Criminal Girls bomb, dumb game is dumb.

Also very happy to see Tactics Ogre doing so well even if I was hoping for higher second week sales, oh well :)

Nice to see that the PSP is still selling in Japan!

This is NOT a MHP3 bundle. It does not even include the game. It is a special PSP-3000 customized for action game usage with a bigger default battery, grips at the back, and a concave analog nub. Plus, Monster Hunter logos on the actual case (not decals), and special shaped speaker holes.

Meanwhile, somewhere deep inside SCEJ, Kaz delays the PSP2 again...

Seriously though, how are they going to manage this transition in Japan? A BC-less PSP2 would be a shame, at least for that territory, cos it seems like a lot of Japanese development is still ongoing for it.

Did I miss a reference about Mikami and Black Ops?

Mikami released Vanquish. It flopped. People said shooters don't sell in Japan, so it's not really a big deal. Now I am still laughing.

Oh. Well, those people sure were naive. We didn't even need to wait for Black Ops to prove this. We could have just looked back at MW2. :lol

Its very stupid from SCEJ to skip making this PSP-4000. Really, not because I said it before they announced it, it screams being labeled PSP-4000 and having 3000 and Go retire for final and best edition of PSP-4000 with improved grip, analog, battery. Would have done so great, they could go again through all the color palette (giving big games a new color bundle plus basic color sku)...

Seriously, I'm pissed myself that is going to be a what 100k? 200k? limited edition for japan.

That sounds really good.

About the psp2 comment, yeah, I really wonder about that. Must have Monster Hunter 4 ready for psp2 launch or something to make japanese people accept it?

Actually, it makes sense for Sony to keep this system MHP3-oriented for 2010. The holidays, new colors and MHP3 will sell the system, so there's no need to add a hardware redesign on top of that.

Meanwhile, in 2011, we have the 3DS and probably the PSP2 arriving. PSP sales will also probably slow down. What does SCE do? Launch this as PSP-4000 and perhaps drop the price.

Not guaranteed, but it makes a lot of sense to do this.

These are media-create numbers right?
Isn't there a huge discrepancy between these and the Famitsu numbers? I thought it sold 250k (excludig BEST) with Famitsu's tracking?

Garaph has it at 219k
Japan game charts at 249k

There is no discrepancy. We simply do not get regularly updated numbers for off the chart titles from Media Create. We do for Famitsu. Both trackers had the game at about 160k by the end of 2009. We have up to date numbers for MW2 in 2010 for Famitsu, but not for Media Create.

2.727

It is worse at Famitsu with the 2 last weeks missing.

Not guaranteed, but it makes a lot of sense to do this.
I dunno but this particular revision is going to be a 3000 so whatever they would include for 4000 it'd have to be different, as in wouldn't make any sense to have a revision that lasts a month (at best) with a few months wait till the revision becomes available again. There's little room to change from 3000 to 4000 and this MH nearly has all of ¡t covered, a major revision than that with PSP2 being (supposedly) under a year away doesn't seem likely either. A post-PSP2 release for a PSP revision doesn't seem coherent either.

So unless they wanna wait to pull that gun against 3DS to try to keep PSP somewhat relevant until PSP2 release, I just can't see it happening. And that scenario is actually pretty gullible for SCEJ, which is why I think it should have been PSP-4000 releasing with MHP3rd.

I don't think a PSP-4000 would have to be too different from what they have coming for MH.

PSP-4000 with MHP3 would have been ideal, but as we'll see, unnecessary.

I looked at the current releases schedule and everything is stuffed in January and February. There is nothing the 2 weeks following 3DS and one game the third week
The Little Battlers

I don't think we can safely say there is nothing yet. Most of the titles due out in March will either be announced at around December, or get release dates in December/January.

Was Modern Warfare 2 release subtitled or dubbed btw?

We'll see but I'm in the 'lost chance' camp or 'SCEJ is run by Ape Escape monkeys on strike until proper Ape Escape sequel is made' one.

But we all know those fiscal year numbers will need some March-releases-make-up.

Maybe there will be some more game announcements. What are the remaining titles that could come out this FY?

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 - Professional - ?

Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s World Championship 2011 - Over the Nexus - February

Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 3 - ?

Inazuma Eleven Strikers - ?

Yakuza: Of the End - ?

LittleBigPlanet 2 - January possibly

Way of the Samurai 4 - ?

RM3 and RgG:OTE could both very easily be early March titles, yeah. No idea about the rest... not enough info. Dissidia 012 is also a possibility for March/April.

The REAL monster is shipping next week:

This is NOT a MHP3 bundle. It does not even include the game. It is a special PSP-3000 customized for action game usage with a bigger default battery, grips at the back, and a concave analog nub. Plus, Monster Hunter logos on the actual case (not decals), and special shaped speaker holes.

Wow so Sony is learning and the PSP2 may actually have two concave sticks.

I'd actually be interested in this PSP if it were released in the USA without the Monster Hunter logos.

Dubbed. Black Ops getting two versions is an experiment by S-E I believe.
Damn, that's great it managed it outsell MW2. I doubt the BO dub will do as well (as it would have without a sub edition) but that'd be icing on the cake since its already ahead with the sub edition only. I wish they did this with japanese games. Week 1 subtitled games would be glorious :')

The Wii color bump lasted a lot shorter than expected.

Wasn't most people expecting the Wii to beat PS3 until GT5?

Due to 360's slowdown it loses overall best first week for this generation though.

Next week is gonna be a crazy week - didn't realize Tales of Graces F is coming out the day after MHP3.

Hopefully Tactics Ogre manages to at least hit 300,000, which it should be able to do.

I thought it was going to be close but obviously the release of Black Ops helped the PS3 more than initially thought. Then there's GT5, Trinity: Zill'Oll Zero, Tales of Graces F and Gundam Musou 3 still to come. Looks like the PS3 will do fine in December.

Good sales for Super Fossil Fighters, at least compared to the previous one. Also fun to see the "Super" naming convention revival started by Super Scribblenauts continue.
