10 PS3 games in the top 20. Enjoy it while it lasts, Sony.

No bump for Wii (Mario Collection) or PS3 (Move).

How long has PS3 been outselling Wii? Has it always been about 2:1 since it started?

It seems everything that have SE name on it will sell even if its an ugly game with drab gameplay and illicitly rip-off other more intresting games.

Well, I do have to eat crow for mario. it did sell a lot, although it didn't bump hardware at all (thus far). So i shall only eat half a crow.
Wait, you said that a Mario game won't sell?

WTF?

Is this a new low for the Wii?

I remember the low being somewhere in the 11,000s, though perhaps slightly lower than this.

Unbelievable SCEJ did nothing for the launch of MOVE. If there was a new MnG game + Move bundle, it would've been quite different. Or, let Claphanz make Japan's Sports Champions. They have zero effort this generation.

considering that it is the week with a mario release it certainly is a new low

i said it wouldn't do gangbusters because it was a compilation disc of old marios ( half of them available on the WiiWare channels). i still thought about 150k, though, just not this high.

Actually they have negative considering how piss poor the firmware system is in the PS3.

a simple port of mario bros on gba did over a million despite the fact that mario deluxe on GBC (compatible with gba) had mario bros 1 and lost levels

Why were people expecting Super Mario Collection to give a bump to Wii hardware?

The game would theoretically sell to people who already bought the hardware for NSMB Wii, MK Wii, Galaxy, etc.

I think we'll see the effects of these releases starting in early November.

Nice boost for RE5 Gold too! That puts the RE5 games that much closer to 1 million. :D

well... halo reach gave 360 a boost didnt it ?

Oh, I'm sure Dragon Quest X will get at least a little bump.
With how bad the Wii is performing I doubt DQX wont be pushed for Wii2. But otherwise, sure it'll bump it a bit. I 'll predict it's too late, too little (duh)

it, at least, shouldn't have caused a decrease. when's the last time a game opened at no. 1 for a system >300k with a hw decrease for week over week?

EDIT: changed it a bit.

So?
I'm talking about something completely different. I'm not talking about HW sales , i'm talking about SCEJ, their JP software houses, which is insignificant this gen. I guess they have no intention or any real effort to support it since it's not made by SCEJ, just like the Eyetoy.

So DQX is now being developed for a platform that is not even announced and has no userbase at all? At some point we'll run out of consoles we can theoretically put DQX on. :lol

this is not going to happen

simply because armor project does not want to publish on systems that dont have an adequate userbase.

I see, but when will X be ready to release? Holiday 2011? Anything later and it'll be out on a dead platform as it is right now. Wont that hurt the sales significantly?

Rules always don't always happen. Espciallly after the 10th time.
I can see SE seeking exception...

Square Enix has no weight in this decision, however.

Is Armor Project Yuji Horii's pen name?

Surprised at how badly Pokemon has been dropping. Another week with a 50+% drop.

Hardware sales terrible all-around. Kinda weird that October/November is the slowest time of the year in Japan.

Reach isn't a port of a 17 year-old SNES game that contained games even older than that. :p

Things like SMC are effective with hardware launches. We'll see sales rise when the Red Wii hits.

Something I've been wondering, related to Vanquish numbers. Are Home Console new IPs doomed to fail in Japan now? Other than Wii _______, I can't think of a single Home Console IP that's taken off in Japan this generation if it wasn't a sequel or an anime tie-in.

Depends on what you mean by "take off". Demon's Souls, White Knight Chronicles, Blue Dragon and even Bayonetta did respectable numbers in Japan.

Why would you (or a software publisher) use current hardware sales numbers to judge whether a game will be released on that platform?

DQX will most likely stick on Wii; it's more interesting to talk about DQXI. 3DS?
