While the sales are poor and the launch lineup in Japan is poor, I don't think the sellthrough is cause for concern. It's hardware / accessories so the traditional thinking about a brisk sellthrough being needed is not necessarily true. Obviously you don't want a PSP Go situation where shipment #1 is still sitting on store shelves a year later, but it's not like the price is going to be cut in half next week to burn through stock.

I hadn't realized it but GameBoyMicro and the reprint of Famicom Mini: Super Mario Bros. at 13/09/05 were released at Nintendo's 20th Anniversary from Super Mario Bros (13/09/85).

I want to say I didn't know that either, but now that you've mentioned it I seem to remember some anniversary branding on my US Famicom GBM. I'd have to dig the box out of my storage closet, but I'm pretty sure it was there.

Right around the sell thru in America 1million shipped to 300k sold. Europe seems to be the only place the move gave any type of spike in hardware sales.

People are STILL quoting this number :lol

Well, personally I thought they'd sell 100K or so, but that number was just pulled out of my ass. Are they advertising it at all?

I don't link it because it changes from week to week, so it can't be kept for future reference on the posts.

I think the RE5 there is the Alternative/Gold Edition, but I'm just translating. =P

Thanks. Weird. They list the game as the original Biohazard 5 with the original's 2009 release date and pricing. But that can't be since the game is long gone from new store shelves and isn't even Move compatible.

Yeah, in the ASCII article they even call it the "Alternative Edition" with the same 11k sales. Not gonna make much different without an updated LTD, though. =\

I already knew GT 1 sold most in Japan all you have to do is check PD website.
Still the person said that no cares about GT in Japan or NA ,it selling less don't make that fact.
Even if series is in decline in Japan it is still a big IP.

I don't care what the person said. I said that Gran Turismo isn't anymore what it was in Japan. Do you disagree with that?

Well i would have to see the sales of GT5 before i say that since it's been 6 years since a console version .
If does over million i would say it's still big IP in Japan for console.
Wonder if online going to help it , this being Japan most likely not .

About 533k split over 2 versions, 'Prologue' and 'Prologue Spec III', where 'Prologue Spec III' was bundled with PS3 hardware (i belive that it was sold as a standalone game too?).

Personally i dont think that the sales of GT5:prologue is that much of an indication on how GT5 will sell, mostly because Prologue was released in a period when the PS3 was quite low in popularity. Now the PS3 is more popular in Japan and GT5 will be released before this holiday season (most likely at least) which i belive is a pretty good time to release this game. If GT5 gets released in early December, then i would not be surprised if GT5 sells like 700k-800k in the 3-4 first weeks. Time will tell though :)

EDIT: For the Prologue numbers, i checked on www.garaph.info.

Nintendo has Donkey Kong Country Returns as ''This Winter'' is Japan.

Missing 2010 looks very likely now. Maybe for the best.

What does Nintendo have for December, if DKCR slips into 2011?

It's not inconceivable for Nintendo to release Donkey Kong titles in December. It happened in 1999 (Donkey Kong 64), 2003 (Donkey Konga), 2004 (Donkey Kong Jungle Beat) and even 2008 (NPD: Donkey Kong Jungle Beat).

All 3 Super Donkey Kong games were released in November.

Last Story releases in January, so Nintendo would want to keep other games out of that time slot.

DKCR should be a December title, and I'm pretty sure that's how it'll end up.

Why for the best? I don't think that the game would sell anywhere near as if it were shipped before Christmas.

Wii has Kirby + Mario titles mainly. Mario Sports Mix is at 25/11/10 + older Mario titles which are included in 25th Super Mario Bros. anniversary advertising.

Can they really announce a December release right now? October is over and I don't think there is another retailer meeting for this year.

Maybe it's for the best maybe for the worst. It has to compete with Mario and Kirby.

Last year the last retailer meeting was at october 8 and there it was dated NSMBW, Pikachu and NHK Red and White Quiz Battle.

Last Story, a January title, got a release date at September 29.

Garaph stopped tracking the game after 2008-12-29. In it's 10th week it sold 59,846 copies, it's hard to believe that after half a year it only sold another 11,491 copies. What happened to the 11th, 12th,....week. Where does Garaph gets his 2009 update from? I can't find the information on that site.

I see thanks, so Famitsu stopped tracking. That 295.174 must be a bullshit number, since I don't believe that it only sold another 11,491 copies in 6 months time. Adding only the missing 11th week sales would have put it over Famitsu's LTD, let alone all the missing weeks/months/year.

If we add mcreate's 366k+ famitsu's GT5P 238k we have 604k already. So it's not hard to believe it sold close to 700k.

If i'm reading it correct, please correct me if i'm wrong, mcreates number is up to January 30th 2010?

Famitsu isn't VGC. Just accept the numbers each traker gives, you don't know which one is closer to reality at this case. Media Create's numbers have one more week than Famitsu (03/01/10: January 3, 2010)
