The game pretty much ends on a cliffhanger. If this doesn't have legs we might have another Mega Man Legends 3 tragedy.

To put into perspective, Etrian Odyssey 3, AKA niche dungeon crawler series by niche jRPG publisher, managed 88K in it's first week.

I havent played much of the golden sun series but wasnt the original in 2d? If so maybe that's the reason.

amazon sold out of the Super Mario Collection Special Pack already. The only ones left on the site are from 3rd party sellers charging 500 yen above MSRP.

I think it has more to do with franchise mismanagement, which Nintendo is fantastic at when it comes to their smaller franchises.

We haven't had a Golden Sun game in forever, and then they finally release the new one only a few months before they release their next handheld.

The GBA games came out early during the handheld's lifetime, and were among the first jRPGs in the system. Dark Dawn is launching at the dusk of the DS, with much stronger competition around.

It's in stock in Japanese stores as of yesterday, though.

Nintendo says it'll meet demand requirements up until the middle of January, which means that we really should worry about its stock issues during that month.

! Attention !
By the way, with the holiday season about to kick off, I will definitely update my Twitter account occasionally with pictures taken in Japanese stores. Like last year, I'll be photographing sold out signs, line ups, promo material, etc. using my iPhone. Why Twitter? Well, it provides a convenient and quick avenue for getting pictures disseminated. I encourage someone to follow it and repost my pics here.

Nintendo should have held back Golden Sun and tweaked it for the 3DS launch. Would have given the game better exposure.

Did the DS have a new color or something? Thats a huge jump.

Also the 8000+ jump for the PSP and PS3 did those have a new bundle too?

Could be because of getting close to holiday season but the Wii only have an under 1000 jump and Nintendo is king of the holiday boost.

Move launch wasn´t this week in Japan. PS3s jump was caused by WinningEleven bundles.

i wonder if sports franchise that gets out every year can actually push people to buy new ps3, without considering it before. I dont doubt that WE bundles sold well, i doubt they attracted new audience that somehow didn't know about WE 2010 or WE WC special edition from few months ago.

Both Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 and Vanquish numbers seem low. Maybe in Vanquish's case it's just too "western" in style unlike, say, Bayonetta?

I honestly thought Naruto was a bigger franchise in Japan and would have guessed for an easy 100k sales for this iteration. Is it a case of too much competition on the PS3 right now or has the popularity of the franchise waned or am I just that out of touch?
