What the

Have there been shortages of this game? If not, I don't think there's any doubt that this, at least, was due to Silver Week. That's the highest it's been since the Obon holiday by 9K.

Look at those drops for Pokemon. I knew it was a fad. I called it 11 years ago.

Unless its popular for 25 years its a fad. You sure called it good, Ani.

Also, MH Tri actually went up a bit in Famitsu. Seemed odd at the time.

They were hard to find, trust me. I think that is a main reason for the large drop off.

No shortages in my area of this game.

I wonder Ninty is doing any promotion for this game now, or just mouth to mouth by players.

ToV fell kinda hard there.

I'll still cross the rare 300k mark for a JRPG on consoles, only WKC has done it. I guess you can say it's already done it if you combine the sales of the 360 version.

Next gen 360/PS3? I wasn't aware that a new generation of those consoles were already released.

There was that one time that he got angry at someone. Someone infinitely irritating. Wish I could remember his/her name. Only time I've ever seen him lose his cool.

Why pretend there's only two next gen consoles?

DQS was most certainly an RPG - had a leveling up system, money, damage was numerical and everything.

Strange to think that in Japan the best selling current gen RPG is on the Wii.

I think you meant HD. Why cant people just say HD instead of next gen? Why?

I'm behind times guess people don't use the word next gen to describe PS3/360 anymore. So anyways when was the last time a Tales game cross the 300k mark on a console? I know
Tales of The World: Radiant Mythology 2 was the last Tales game to do it but that's on a handheld.

Until late December that is. Unless things are just worse for the PS3 and FFXIII then anyone could have thought.

Tales of the Abyss was the last one - but probably only because it was the last mothership title released on console, besides of course Vesperia.

EDIT: Ahh crap, I forgot about Tales of Destiny PS2.

This is Namco. It's not safe to assume anything.

It probably will, but I don't think Japanese sales really have a strong relation to the chances of localization for Tales games, outside of super bombas (and I figure quality or other factors are more important there). :/

People should have stopped using the term "next gen" back in November 2006 when all three consoles (360, PS3, Wii) were out. As it was, people kept the moniker in order to childishly mock the Wii's lack of hardware power. (See also: "lol 2 gamcbues duk taepd together" and "Wii is a last-gen console")

Its use in the context of hardware power is asinine. Don't do it.

Well, the PS2 release of Tales of Symphonia outsold the GC release, but it never came in English, despite the original being the best selling one here (and still is).

Tales of Vesperia
PS3 JP: 265,000
360 JP: 161,070 as of December 22nd, 2008
360 US: ~70,000 as of November 29th, 2008... I think I heard it sold around 100k sometime in 2009 before the price drop to $30
360 EU: ??? If it sold the same as US in the first month, that's ~35k and it probably sold a few hundred or thousand copies in Canada

So it's up to at least 496,000 (JP PS3, JP 360, conservative US 360) at least across both consoles which is pretty good I think. Especially considering they got funding from Microsoft. Hopefully enough of a profit that Team Symphonia is working on another HD Tales! This time they could re-use the same engine which would cut down costs even more and maybe pull the same 1 year thing with more Microsoft money.

Nintendo funded the localization of Symphonia. And although Microsoft helped with funding, that was only for a 1 year exclusive on the title and has nothing to do specifically with localization. That said, Namco makes no sense with their decisions. If it does get localized, grandjedi6 or Rpgmonkey pointed out in the other topic that all Tales localization announcements have happened between February and April so we may have a ways to wait.

To be fair, I remember people still describing the PS2/Xbox/GC as "next gen" at some point in 2003. It didn't really start to fade until rumors and news of the PS3, Xenon and Revolution started up.
