Cut and paste from the other thread:

Ouch the PSP shortages are real.
But PS3 is doing really fine. A bit weird that it's continuing to get sales similar to its Christmas week.
Nintendo is doing well too. I wonder if DS sales will collapse as we approach the 3DS launch.

MHP3 failed to cross 4 million this week. Too bad. It'll take a few more weeks for it to beat DQIX and MHP2G's records.

DKCR > 700k. Simply amazing performance. Very impressive.

Ni no Kuni > 400k. Not bad for bomba price driven sales. It'll be interesting to see how far it can go before slowing to a halt. Probably around 500k. It'll be totally dead by the time the 600k shipment sells out, if it ever does.

Gundam Musou 3 > 300k. Pretty normal showing here. Nothing amazing or surprising. The lack of a PS2 version didn't change anything at all.

T3B > 200k. Decent enough if viewed as a western targeted game released in Japan, but with the PSP dead outside of Japan I don't think they have that luxury. I doubt it'll ever reach 300k, which is kinda bad for a high budget title. It's still selling better than most of S-E's recent releases though.

SaGa3 launch = hahahahahahaahahahahahahaha wow holy bomba. Serious decline there. 100k (SaGa2 FW) -> 27k? Really? Wtf happened there?

The hardware numbers seem all over the place.

Last week PSP was still well ahead of the NDS, and now it has completely plummeted. Last week every piece of hardware was considerably down, except for the PS3 that did extremely well. And that while there's barely any software on the lists to explain it.

I would say the trackers are messing up, but more likely it is just me not knowing the bigger picture (hardware bundles, special offers, ...).

Dynasty Warriors Gundam rising to the heavens.

Gundam Musou 2 sold:
PS3 - 310k
PS2 - 270k
360 - 52k

Total - 632k

Gundam Musou 3 has sold:
PS3 - 318k
360 - 12k

Total - 330k

Long way to go before it rises back into heaven.

Such a strange thing. 1 ps3 game but ahead of Wii hardware

I think it is safe to assume (since the last weeks) that PS3 is now "partially" disconnected from PS3 software sales. Perhaps, it exists a strong correlation with BluRay sales :lol

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

So is DCKR going to be the highest-selling Western-developed game in Japan?

Original DKC (Rare) sold way more and is still at No1 (i think)

Not of all time, several games did better, Crash Bandicoot and Ratchet I'm pretty sure did over a million.

Why did the LTDs change so much?

DS last week: 32.150.701 this week: 32.315.914
PSP: 16.650.512 this week: 16.745.494

And PS2 is unchanged from last week.

Donkey Kong's performance is absolutely phenomenal in japanese terms. After a modest first week, Japan was just about to dismiss the title just like every other foreign thing but word of mouth spreaded out fast and retro has won japan over now.

Bravo!

Retro just showed their boss what they are made of, I hope nintendo takes this into consideration and lets them have a say in regards to what they want to work on after DKCR.

As a Metroid Prime diehard fan, I can hardly wait till we get to know what they are doing.

I think 99% of the people who purchased the game have no idea what Retro is.

Also Remember during new years almost no shipments go out(retailer blogs reported getting saga before the 31st), just to put the psp situation into more light

Hey, given its recent trend, if it has anything resembling first-party Mario platformer legs (lol NSMBW back in top ten :lol ), I wouldn't bet my life against it surpassing DKC3.

Can't this be explained because Saga 3 is generally disliked as a sucky game whereas Saga 2 is hailed as a gaming classic?

I am not so sure, depends on where it starts to die off. DKC3 could be overtaken if it proves to be a NSMB Wii or MK Wii type seller

I doubt that most Japanese are aware of Retro's development of the game. Nintendo games are are probably seen as a 'Nintendo games' before any individual Nintendo developer's product.

Nonetheless, it's been absolutely delicious to see Retro outsell a Sakamoto approved Metroid game tailored to Japanese players in Japan. Ten times over :lol

Either Retro needs more work from Nintendo or Arashi need more money from Nintendo.

How did Nintendo do it with GBA's supply and pricetag when the DS was launched? I am just wondering what they will do with the DS once the 3DS launches :)

Well, I meant of this generation, but I didn't clarify so fair enough. I knew the Rare games sold better. But there's really no competition in the space, is there? Western games lately top out around what, 300k or so.

Which western games sold more than DKCR during the last 3 generations (PSX/N64/SAT/DC/PS2/GCN/XB/PS3/Wii/X360)? That should be quite easy to find out for some here, shouldn't it ^^?

Mario Kart Wii is a beast. it is approaching 3 years since release and it still charts. looks like it inherited the DS version's legs.

i doubt many people know Retro made DKCR. their logo is nowhere to be seen in the game. still, good for them to finally have a game that sells in every region. i'm betting that they'll become the new DKC machine now.

None (when DKCR stops selling).

Nintendo World 2011 saw attendance of 26,000 people over its three days this past weekend, Mainichi reports today. The event was held from the 8th through the 10th (a holiday) at the Makuhari Messe convention center.

The Makuhari Messe also plays host to events like the Tokyo Game Show and World Hobby Fair, but these tend to see far greater attendance. Last year's TGS, for instance, saw a record 207,657 attendees over its four days.

Past Nintendo events like Nintendo World Touch! DS, which toured the nation ahead of the DS's release, saw total attendance of 83,363. Going back further, Nintendo Space World 2001, held over a three day period in 2001, saw 81,000 attendance. (You can see more past event attendance at Nintendo's event page).

Interestingly, Nintendo may gain more exposure for the 3DS at the system's next demo event, the World Hobby Fair. This kicks off on a four city tour this weekend in Osaka. A Tokyo showing is set for the following week. For a list of what's playable at World Hobby Fair, see this story. For a look at the most recent WHF event, see this story.

Yeah, I think Retro just bought their ticket into becoming a 2D Donkey Kong -factory for all eternity. We'll never see another Prime-type game again. :/

Well, this doesn't sound good for Nintendo. For some reason they were expecting a relatively small crowd, though, weren't they? IIRC, they only used part of the convention center.

I'd say Mario Sports Mix is the real surprise, over Donkey Kong Country Returns.
Debuting at 85k, and still going strong at over 530k, with a good shot at 1 million.
