3DS sales last year were abysmal! Glad to see Nintendo's finally sorted that out for this year. ¬_¬

VOOK

We don't know why he keeps buying PAL, either.
To my untrained eye.... 3DS software... not so good?

Wonder if hardware constrained.

Dunno. I count some 160k+ software units in the top 20, to 200k+ hardware so the attach rate isn't quite 1, but I think the second-week sales of the games there are pretty decent.

PSP is going seriously strong.

Wii on the other hand...

I said it in the old thread, but when NoE are beating you to the punch with official bundling of popular third-party games - Just Dance 2 - you are doing something wrong...

Weekly sales are always a bit weird to look at I feel. Curious as to what the entire month looks like for Japan.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

..how about some games ?

3DS software isnt THAT appealing, at least compared to the latest offers on PSP/Ps3 .....but it will get there once real must-haves are released.....PSP being this strong fueled by MHP 3rd doesnt make it easier.

PSP sales good , PS3 20 -25k seem to be normal figure now.
Disgaea 4 should sell over 100k but not much more.
Wii really need some help , don't think Nintendo going to do a price drop maybe some more colors.

Wow Dissidia 012 tanked, no wonder I saw amazon slashing its price already, they must have shipped a ton more than that. While we're at overshipping, PSP2i 2nd week isn't good enough either, its going to take discounts and time to clear that shipment (~375k).

3DS way stronger than I thought, its a bigger 2nd week than DS (181k) and that was a December week. Nintendogs and Musou for legs as expected.

Probably going to jinx it but really great outcome for so many Musou entries in short time (Gundam 3, Samurai 3 Z, Samurai Chronicles), next up Dynasty 7 tomorrow.

What colours have been released in Japan thus far?

Will we have Link Green, Triforce Yellow, Zelda Grey incoming?

Can this new baseline be solely attributed to PS3 slim? If so, Sony should be applauded. [Did you hear that Mr Nintendo?]

so Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition sold more than the console version, i think this is great for capcom and the 3DS

Now I wont act overly surprised at Disgaeas front-loaded nature, but I guess I was still hoping its great opening would lead to a somewhat more substantial second week. :(

The PS3 Slim probably has something to do with it, but the pricedrop and good content probably also helped much.

I didn't have figures to hand, but is that right? Good result, although it obviously benefits from launch-period-itis.

EDIT:

Ah, it's not right! Not sure if it will carry on trucking up to the level of the PS3 version, but 100k-odd looks in sight.

Surprised to see dissidia selling that well.

Up to this point I thought it was a ps3 game. That's how much i knew about the game.

It's a far cry from the first one, I don't think Square is really happy with the results :/

There's nothing wrong with the size of the Wii (oooh matron!!!!).

Given that there's only one title in the top 20, it's a wonder that weekly sales haven't dropped below 10,000.

You still don't know much.
That sales is not that great. But again, its just an expansion and not a full fledged game.

Yeah, apparantly from the impression thread. It really feel like they have expanded on things rather than adding stuff that makes it wortrh the full price.

Maybe I should I have said '' it feels like an expansion'' rather than ''It is an expansion''

Mixing famitsu with Media Create the only system with best second week is GBA.

Well I'm not sure about the innards of the wii, but im sure the ten year old tech can be made smaller now. And into an even slimmer casing. Remove the GC ports, new paint job etc.
My wii's gpu is fried, so have artifacting all over my games. So hoping the release that lime green wii they showed when the wii was first announced. Hopefully they make it a zelda bundle *droool*

I don't think they'd ever remove the GC ports.

... But they've done it with handhelds, so what do I know.

Removing the GC ports wouldn't do a great deal for slimming the system down - the DVD drive pretty much locks it at the size it is, not the GC legacy hardware or the other internals.

It can't get smaller, but there's perhaps something you could do with a refreshed design - same size, new casing material/colours, redesign of the case lines - more rounded, less angular... Couple that with a true price drop - not the measly one it had the other year - start pushing the system on its back-catalogue of rather fantastic first-party games, as well as the few third-party standouts, and offer bundles for major upcoming releases - Just Dance 2, Goldeneye (both NCL releases in Japan), Skyward Sword etc. - as well as maybe bundling with older, still-popular software (a yellow special edition bundled with DKCR, for example).

The software installed inside the 3DS is actually quite fun and I believe that they are selling just as many systems as the traditional software is. Together they effectively make the 3DS's equivalent of Wii Sports.

They are selling it as a true sequel. However, it is an expanded of the same same meaning the tuned it to make it more balanced, added charcters and other fanservice, etc...

the actual expansion is unversal tuning, i think

Sorry for the mixed up.

AR games are fun but I got bored of them after a few minutes. But again there were only 2 AR games available.

Wii Sports is easily understood and communicated to the mass public. It's also great for multi-player. AR cards, by comparison, are just a distraction.

Yeah, I've seen a few people suggesting just that. Interestingly, the first in-store displays I've seen for the 3DS over here in the UK prominently feature the AR Games, so I think they're going to be a big part of the launch push here. Like motion controls, others got there first, but I think Nintendo have brought it all together in one attractive package and made it a more appealing proposition than it was elsewhere.

Really? AR is pretty easily understood - you point the 3DS at something and your livingroom/kitchen etc. becomes the game world. I'd agree that the batch of AR Games on the system won't have the lasting appeal of Wii Sports, but the initial "Wow!" factor and desire to show it off to other people is there...

Look guys, don't worry about Dissidia012. It's fine. 286k isn't that bad when we consider that it is being released in March, compared to Dissidia's December release. Dissidia's first week at the peak December period in 2008 was only 485k anyway. This game will have mad legs, and could sell over 2 million copies when all is said and done. It's really good, and once gamers hear about how awesome Laguna and Gilgamesh are, they'll probably rush out and buy it. Don't be surprised to see the game on the Top10 charts all the way to December. Square Enix has another solid winner.
