PS3 for less than 21,000 yen at HMV:

Hell of a bargain, but is this a sign of a full-on price drop coming?
There's a bit of fuck-up right now, because the 320GB SKU cost 35k while 320GB+Torne is 36k.

Then again they just launched Silver 160GB at 30k and 320GB at 35k so it'd be weird for a pricedrop (or ceasing 160GB and putting 320GB at 30k).

EDIT: Summing it up:
Black/White/Silver - 160GB - 29980Y
Black/White/Silver - 320GB - 34980Y
Black/White - 320GB and Torne - 35980Y
Torne - 9980Y

Bold is new on March 10, the Torne bundles went down from 39980Y to 35980Y, making it a bit stupid to have a 320GB SKU at 35k...yet they released the same day both the 160GB and 320GB SKUs in Satin Silver.

Lowest points are:

- Before it exploded (1996);
- GB -> GBA transition (2001);
- GBA -> NDS transition (2005).

I know the DS was launched in 2004. =P

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
That's good, SSFIV was kind of a rip off... Didn't it launch at budget price for PS360? That 3DS didn't get SFIV at all doesn't mean it's ok to get SSFIV full price...

4800 is the low bar for a 3DS game price, but still no budget.

Looks like the original was 8390 and Super was 4990. That image says the 3DS version was 5800, but Famitsu said it was 4800.

Yeah I don't know yen value, I was going by the prices in EU. SSFIV3D goes for 45 Euros... Like 3 Euros less than MvC3. Guess it's different there. Good for them.

Price collapse has come

I've realized we really need to be wary of 2-channel aggregate blogs. I've seen several times in media create thread, posts from sites trying to make a big deal over loss-lead sales, limited number sales etc.

There is no evidence of such a massive price collapse(not that chris is claiming that there is), (yes both street figther 4 and ridge racer3d have had minor price drops), this is one store that probably ordered way way too much and had no 3ds sales, I can't find any other price anywhere near these ones.

In fact calling stores now, the lowest I can find on a we buy your used game price for Ridge Racer 3ds is 3500~.

Yeah this is definitely true. The nature of game store competition in Japan is such that there will always be stores, especially smaller ones, who are willing to make massive losses over brand new or relatively new titles just to get more customer traffic, including applications to memberships, etc.

If you are willing to do a little bit of leg work on the release weekend of any big title, I can almost guarantee that you will be able to find at least one store selling the title at 30% or more off, even if the title is a huge title which will have no problem at all selling at full price.

Okay I'm completely clueless when it comes to spreadsheets, how can I use the filters to get the master list to only show strings that have bomberman in it?(trying to get the bomberman numbers in order of release date to mourn the seeming death of the series)

_____________________________________________________________

The vibe I've gotten from retail blogs this week(I can source any of these, would take some time to go through my log though, if you really want them)

- For games this week most of the Tohoku region(about 10% of the country's population) didn't receive shipments, next week it's looking iffy about Gundam 3d(most of the other shipments are alright)

- 3ds sales are not looking so happy games/hardware both not moving, it appears that Nintendo realizes this and is shipping low(Again, I will note these are specialty retailers that are generally weak with Nintendo goods). on the other hand psp is as always having stock problems(although shipments have been low since the earthquake)

- Strangely, most of the gaming blogs that also cover trading cards say that while video games sales have been iffy/not so happy times they are seeing best ever sales for trading cards.

I think game sales are going to be low for at least 2 months, if not longer. The general mood for gaming just isn't there these days.

I wonder if this could have anything to do with electricity conservation?

So many games getting delayed won't help either.
