Is Japan saved yet?

3DS is dead now.
Time for iOS 8/Android 5.

Yeah, it's time to say goodbye to non-AAA japanese titles on consoles after this generation of handhelds.

3DS in decline, Vita is an extremely niche device, Wii U and PS4 were DOA. Can't see the next Nintendo handheld doing anywhere near half of 3DS numbers either.

Japanese developers will be switching to mobile and it's perfectly reasonable for them to do so.

This was released last week (this week's sales thread):

Gematsu said:
For 20,454 yen, the box will include a PS Vita, 8 gigabyte memory card, travel pouch, cleaning cloth, strap, demos for God Eater 2, Soul Sacrifice Delta, and Terraria, and pre-installed copies of free-to-play titles Joysound.TV Plus, Dragon’s Dogma Quest, Power Pro Stadium, and the Music Unlimited app.
That's a nice bundle.

It's a strange country where the just launched PS4 is nearly outsold by PS Vita. Very odd.

Does Vita have anything big coming up in the near future? Last year's price drop seems to be eating away at the YTD lead Vita enjoyed in its first two months of 2014.

Pretty big 3DS drop YTD. I wonder if it will be able to clear the PS2's LTD. I would imagine that this year and 2015 are the last two years before Nintendo announces/releases a successor console, and Japan seems to drop systems pretty quickly when something new is released.

Awful number for Ar Nosurge: Umareizuru Hoshi e Inoru Uta.

Is the 2nd week of Deception IV: Blood Ties in line with the series?

GTA:V on it's way to 750k... Will it make it to 800k? Tune in next week for another episode of the train that keeps on giving.

Im not sure about that, 3DS hardware seems to be in decline (saturation?), but the software still seems to be selling pretty well.

TBF G versions of MH aren't real sequels either, they still sell well. As do most hunting genre expansions.
They also never were sold on the same platform. MH4G is pretty much the first one since the MH boom (it was still growing during the time of MHP1, MHP2, and MHP2ndG).

I wouldn't be surprised if some people skip out on MH4G since MH4 is already available on the platform.

It's awfully tight at the top. I expected maybe a slightly larger boost from Soul Sacrifice (Not huge, but a few k more?)

3DS dropping to Vita levels, PS Vita rising from the grave, and PS4 is going down and taking the future of Japaneese console games with them. :(

Aren't almost all of those sales for Wii Fit U from system bundles? Doesn't really count if so. Given how the standalone software bombed, I doubt people were picking up those bundles for Fit U. Especially since the bundles included 1-2 other games.

Tropical freeze should past the 100k mark actually. Not exactly soon but maybe before June

Kinda disappointing numbers for Soul Sacrifice.

I think it's decent numbers, this is not a sequel. At best it would have sold around 70k.

PS4 will go down below 3DS and Vita next week. There's not much helping it, with no releases on a horizon, I don't see how it could sell well. Question is how low will it drop to.

Vita and 3DS numbers are getting really really close. Wouldn't be surprised if we see Vita outselling 3DS this month (Project Diva f2).

What was the opening for Ar Tornelica Qoga? I know Ar Tornelico 2 opened with 72,000. 27.037 for Ar no Surge is kinda disappointing.

It's a strange country where the just launched PS4 is nearly outsold by PS Vita. Very odd.

There are very little market centric games on PS4 and very little announced that will come in near future, let alone this year. Japanese release schedule is beyond weak at the moment.

So what will happen next week (with almost no supply problems for PS4) if PS4 numbers are down again?

Hey, what happened this time last year? The Vita was on par with 3DS back then, too.

ok here it is.

04. / 00. [PS3] Ar tonelico III: Sekai Shuuen no Hikigane wa Shoujo no Uta ga Hajiku (Namco Bandai) - 81.633 / 109.274

05./00. [PS3] Ar Nosurge: Umareizuru Hoshi e Inoru Uta # <RPG> (Gust) {2014.03.06} (¥7.140) - 27.037 / NEW

04./00. [PSV] Ciel Nosurge: Ushinawareta Hoshi e Sasagu Uta # <ADV> (Gust) {2012.04.26} (¥5.040) - 33.324 (<- first week)

missing total sales for Ciel Nosurge, though it's apparent it's a big bomb. The game was on PS+ for limited time play, I'm guessing that didn't impress much or that the previous two games poisoned the well too much. Not looking very good for GUST, last Atelier game also declined quite a bit.

Obviously nobody expected Delta to outsell the original, but its performance shows the franchise is not growing. Good luck with Soul Sacrifice 2.

PSP : God Eater ( Bandai Namco ) { 2010-02-04 } - 276.104
PSP : God Eater Burst ( Bandai Namco ) { 2010-10-28 } - 267.178

about the PS4..

you can only sell what you have in stock.

Yep, and it's clear from the recent Amazon sales that Sony have shipped extra PS4s to America and Europe now to cover the Infamous run up and bundles. We should start seeing more regular shipments in April.

3DS decline is mostly due to the big amount of people it already reached and it's something natural. The almighty DS suffered this a lot in the fourth year, it's natural. Obviously, Nintendo should do something in order to increase them again, but the reasons for it's decline are much more "natural" than what we're seeing for Wii U, PS4 bad sales and Vita mediocre at best ones.

Plus, actually, software is doing great in 3DS right now, maybe better than last year, at the same time: many titles selling, many different titles selling. Even Vita can say to be a good platform for specific titles and, I'll add, even for multi releases with PS3, despite the loooow installed base.

I fear you're jumping a bit too much the gun, especially when saying that 3DS successor will not even sell half of 3DS sales. Especially if you were referring only to Japan sales.

Nothing? You can save the PS4doomed for when games actually start releasing, it's pretty silly now.

Nintendo should release the 2DS in Japan.

More like Nintendo should join forces with Sony and blow up all smart phones in Japan. It looks like it's going to be a painful year for gamers as far as hardware sales.

I'm really surprised at that Vita 10k sudden increase O_O
I don't think SSD helped Vita to reach that number. It must something else...
So...this means that, this week, around 20k of the normal pack have been sold, right?

The Welcome Box helped Vita sales, didn't expect this impact.
Oh yeah, this thing exist. Never expected it to move some unit to be honest.
This was released last week (this week's sales thread):

That's a nice bundle.
It's rather nice bundle, but I don't think it actually could move that number as many as 10k.

Anyway, really poor numbers beside Vita. PS4 dropping, but it's natural considering its lackluster software lineup currently. Meanwhile 3DS sales dropped too, I wonder if it gonna down to sub 30k next week, is there any game to prevent this? And Wii U gonna WiiU.

48k for SSD is disheartening :(
I hope it'll got decent legs later and hit LTD target this year.

They need a new sku to sell to existing owners and maybe entice a few new ones. They really should be trying to double down.
