One of those less than 2.5k is me. Amazon still had it in stock.

The bad new is that it's poor sales aren't due to it being supply constrained.

The good news is that it has not price collapsed yet. In fact when I bought it last week that price was 6,200yen and the price has actually gone up a tiny bit to 6,473yen so retailers are not panicking about the title just yet.

Launch titles don't follow typical price pattern of overshipped games. There is a drought of new releases at first weeks and it's inevitable day 1 games to show good legs.

There is still the possibility some of them were massively overshipped and retailers are forced to drop the price drastically (Wii U had many with below 20% sell-through) but that was not the case with Switch.

Saturday is an interesting day. MHXX launches and Nintendo restocks Switch.

We'll get an idea of how far MH will fall behind Capcom's forecast and the size of Switch shipments for the rest of March.

Personally I'm in the club of those who doesn't believe that MK8 Switch will outsell the original for WiiU, but ready to be surprised !

I would also like to add that this week the hardware was severly supply constrained, and that influenced game sales as well, given most of them saw 70+% drops as the hardware dropped 80% (with the exception of Puyo Puyo Tetris, that keeps on doing surprising sales, seriously), so of course Disgaea dropped in a similar fashion.

Just to add my little anecdote: I haven't seen any for sale in my city (Nagoya) although I've only been checking around sporadically. At various GEOs, a local video game chain and the Yamada Denki on my way to/from work and checked out the Bic Camera/Sofmap at Nagoya Station on the weekend. Nothing...all sold out.

I wanted to try it out and they didn't even have demo units out. Nintendo must be hard pressed making these in significant volume. I'd probably buy one if I saw one available.

Not so bad hold for Switch seeing the reports from being almost sold out and great holds for PS4 and 3DS on the Hardwared side.

Did we get shipment numbers for the other Switch retail titles? (I am setsuna, Disgaea 5... etc.)

Now that Yoshi 3DS outsold Yoshi Wii U, next battle is MK8 Switch vs. MK8 Wii U.

I wonder if MK8D is going to be the next Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS, aka popular game restrained by unpopular platform that ends up doing better when ported on more popular platform.

In fact in the case of Mario Maker some of the content has been cut.

Some content may have been cut, but SMM3DS also have a lot more than the Wii U version doesn't.

The interesting thing will be what happens when Mario Kart 9 releases on a system. We've really yet to see what happens when one of these titles releases twice on the same system.

Yeah, same question for the inevitable Smash 4 port.

I don't think they're just going to release DLC for MK8D as was suggested a few posts ago, but I do expected the next MK (and Smash) to be pretty DLC heavy. Well, Smash 4 already was really DLC-heavy, and it's not going to change.

Also, Horii apparently teased some DQXI announcement: http://gamestalk.net/post-76440/

Did we ever get any PR about how the DLC sold? I'm wondering how much of an allure 16 extra tracks + Isabelle might be, particularly if it's new to a significant quantity of the people who purchased MK8 Wii U.

Also, they talk about Switch stock problems, and numbers would have been better if enough stock was shipped.

Is there any big release coming out in the next 4 weeks for the PS4 in JPN? If not then the average at the highest would be about 35K a week. And at that rate, the PS4 leads will most likely be cut down to below 200K (4.72 million PS4 vs 4.56 million PS3) by week 166.

there are few releases expected to do between 50 - 100k.. but nothing major.

MK8 Deluxe is going to sell amazing from my point of view, some people underestimate it because its a port without realizing that.-

* It's MK8 portable
* First game to truly vindicate tabletop mode
* Amazing value for those that skkiped Wii U
* Easy local multiplayer with more than one Switch

I can't see how MK8 is not going to be Switch first evergreen title, timing seems good also being barely 6 weeks away.

Even Wii U owners who bought Switch will buy again this MK8 Deluxe

I agree full heartedly, this game is a bigger seller than Zelda imo.

It's not so easy ramping up production, especially for launch period. Nintendo kept increasing Wii production month after month and still couldn't meet demand. Right now they are coming from 2 massively overshipped launches in a row, 3DS and Wii U, and didn't want the same situation again. Even if they decided to do that it for Switch there isn't time to be any significant number for March, maybe a few 100k more from the original 2m forecast.

Either way, these aren't lost sales and the big majority of them will come later. There is always the scenario demand far exceeds supply and the amount of lost sales is big. There is difference between a product having high sell-through but most of demand is covered and a product that runs out of stock almost immediately after going on sale.

It probably won't outsell it at launch because of install base at time of their respective releases, but it's definitely going to outsell it long term. I mean it's freaking portable MK8 versus not-portable MK8.

First week shipment for Ghost Recon and Kingdom Hearts was around 100.000 units each.

PS4 boxed software now at 18 million sold, with some 2.4 million coming from this year (600k over the 3DS)

The Degenki tie ratio for Switch is 1.2.

I could see Mario Kart 8 doing more than Zelda's first week. 200k+ for the 2nd major release on the platform and hopefully the Switch is close to or above 600-700k at that point.

Mpl90

I don't understand how Dengeki got 100,000 as Switch software sales though. The total of the games in top 50 is around 89,000 IIRC, plus Nobunaga's Ambition makes it 90,000 at best. There must've been an error in counting, those can't be digital sales since Dengeki doesn't track them (last week, their software total was exactly the sum of the 8 launch games' sales).

You guys know there's an inbetween right?
Also didn't 3DS sell 3.61 million by its first month globally?
That was its first quarterly shipment amount, which accounted for a little over a month of availability in Japan and about a week in NA/EU. The following quarter only an additional 710K were shipped.

Tomorrow is the release date of Double Cross and one interesting thing is that Switch space (at least for this week) went down because of it. This is one of the biggest releases of the year, so stores are really pushing the game.

Reservations stands for Musou Stars, Mario Sports and Blue Reflection started to appear.

Switch situation remains difficult. Hard to find. There are re-stocks but very few units. Stores reduced the space on shelves in favour of Monster Hunter and only are showing the next releases, especially Mario Kart.

Battle of the barely charting Switch games (but still quite a bit better than Nobunaga)... I guess they might hit 10K eventually since they're launch titles?....
42./22. [NSW] Disgaea 5 Complete (Nippon Ichi Software) {2017.03.03} - 1,325 / 5,968
46./27. [NSW] I am Setsuna (Square Enix) {2017.03.03} - 1,106 / 4,525

The legs on this title seem kind of bad all things considered. It hasn't even reached Mario Party 10's 200K and this one is on 3DS. Island Tour's reputation precedes this one? (I thought this one was supposed to be a lot better, right?)
49./47. [3DS] Mario Party Star Rush (Nintendo) {2016.10.20} - 1,072 / 161,484

Interesting that this CoD charted after all this time...
48./66. [PS4] Call of Duty: Black Ops III (Sony Interactive Entertainment) {2015.11.06} - 1,078 / 343,653

Yay, congrats on hitting 150K.
37./39. [PSV] Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization (Bandai Namco Games) {2016.10.27} - 1,650 / 150,742

No sell-through update yet from the blog.

Anyway, Gamesmaya reported no power for the new releases this thursday. MHXX is the only big game of the week.

No surprises here about MHXX being the only big game this week! Curious to see how that one will perform.

About Nintendo Switch shipments:

In the fiscal year starting April 2017, assemblers under contract with Nintendo are now planning to manufacture 16 million or more Switches, up from an initial plan for eight million, said people briefed on the plans. Even after accounting for inventory, that suggests Nintendo believes it can sell significantly more than 10 million units during the 12-month period, they said, beating expectations of many analysts.

About the 2m for current FY:

Nintendo Chief Executive Tatsumi Kimishima has said the company would ship two million units globally this month, but one person familiar with production said 2.5 million or more is likely.

2.5m does indeed sound more likely, and would line up with Nintendo's comments about increasing production based on demand leading to launch.

2.5 million is obviously a lot better than 2 million but it still looks likely that the bigger markets for Nintendo will struggle to meet demand.

As said in the other thread that 16m is super optimistic and would be amazing if it happened. It's hard to really see that happening. If it does I think the switch will be looking at closer to wii sales than wii U long term.

hmm ... seems like japan is really warming up to western "ShootBang" games.
MS IPs and upcoming xbox consoles may have a future in japan after all xD.

[PS4] [PSV] Accel World Vs. Sword Art Online: Millennium Twilight <RPG> (Bandai Namco Games) - 60%

[PS4] Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash # <ACT> (Marvelous) - 60%

[3DS] Future Card Buddy Fight Mezase! Buddy Champion! <TBL> (FuRyu) - 30%

This week's relases

[PSV] Konoyo no Hashite de Ren o Utau Shoujo: Yu-No # <ADV> (5pb.) (¥7.800)

Pedantry regarding a game nobody likely cares about in the first place, but that should be "Hashite de Koi," not "Ren." I know some import retailers have it listed as ren, but they're wrong. The onyomi can't really stand on its own, and even if it could that's not the reading in this title.

Predictions on MHXX sales number? MHX 1st week sales were P1.4 million, for your reference. Do note that that was only for 2 days, which is crazy.
