ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?

Dissidia012 crosses 400k and is still going, it should definitely be able to do 500k. Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity crosses 300k, it's uncertain if it will get to 400k, but it might. WotS4 is looking like a pretty big hit for Spike. DKCR almost over 900k now, super duper impressive.

Hopefully for Nintendo that's supply related.

Weren't they planning to ship 1.5m by now? If they have, Japan should be awash with them, looking at the sales to date.

We don't know why he keeps buying PAL, either.

Probably poor choice of words there...

Well at least this will ring a bell at Nintendo that they can't act lazy during these months. They need to release games asap if they want to keep the system interesting for people.

PSP2 Infinity seems to be doing great, just as the previous games did.
I hope this will bring SEGA interest in making a PS console game.

I think that if I was in Nintendo's position, I would have cut shipments back a couple of weeks ago and just revised downward. For whatever reason - price, games, current events or all of the above and more - they're not on target to sell the 1.1 million they were aiming for, so surely it's better to ship less to meet current demand rather than oversupply?

I'm pretty surprised at the bad Nintendogs + Cats performance. Nintendogs was a million selling game and cats will likely not even reach 300k. Pretty big drop there.

That plan has definetely changed. At least 500k must have shifted to Western launch.

Eh...it's a turn of phrase I use a lot, I didn't think twice about it. I think it ought to go without saying, but it's not an intended reference to recent events...

I wondered if they might do that, although I also wondered about the logistics of doing that at relatively short notice. Perhaps it is possible.

Maybe 3ds is too expensive for the Nintendogs target audience or maybe they don't need "more" nintendogs. I bought the first one for DS because it looked cute and i love animals, but i absolutely hated the game.

Hopefully this means that Nintendo will have to start trying, instead of cruising on auto-pilot like they have for the last five years.

It's a short period of time but it was obvious Nintendo would miss the target from the beginning of March.

Doubt it. Ever since Wii Music, Nintendo have been in cruise mode, the Wii flailing hasn't brought them out of it and the relative lack of success of the 3DS probably won't either.

Clearly not enough cats in the game.

I saw this mentioned briefly elsewhere, but is it correct that Nintendo are holding a press briefing today? Any chance of interesting news coming out of that - perhaps even SalesAge-related?

3DS hasn't performed as strongly as Nintendo was hoping for.
They're looking at little more than half what they wanted to sell in Japan at this point which is disappointing for them. I was just reading articles stating that the euro launch has not been the expected success either with stock vastly exceeding demand. Lack of games and high price are probably the reasons.
Wii is not doing well either so it's not a good moment for Nintendo in general, they must plan actions for the second half of the year if they want to fix the situation.

Well, in any event I expect we'll see some response from Nintendo if sales continue to slip. Like, if they're holding back on some market-stimulating announcements, we'll probably see them sooner than we might have otherwise. I know the market often only reacts when products become available vs when they're announced, but it can't hurt to show people more of the system's future, to assert it as 'the platform' they'll want.

If you're a gamer, you know its the system you want already based on the announcements we've seen.

If you're a casual though -- you're probably not paying attention to Nintendo's official announcements and are just waiting to see the killer app software played by one of your pseudo geek friends.

its 800k in about one month for 3ds. gc sold over 500k in about 14 days as far as i remember.

also gc had pikmin, smash bros and in november and animal crossing in december. i dont see any significant releases (anything that will do 200k +) for 3ds though.

Take that, Nintendo! That'll teach you to region-lock systems!

Hahahahahaaaaaaaa...

Seriously though, I wonder what is the overall reason for the relatively tepid 3DS response thus far.

Today? That's Nintendo's program:

Mar. 31, 2011 - Record Date for Year-End Dividends for the 71st Fiscal Year

Apr. 25, 2011 - Fiscal Year Earnings Release[Scheduled]

GC launched during the holiday season too.

I don't see any 200k sellers on 3DS for April or May yet, but Biohazard and Zelda in June should manage that without much trouble.

no september 14th 2001

RE doing 200k.. doubt it. RE DS did nothing
zelda.. doubt it either as its just a port of a game that barely crossed the million mark in japan like 13 years ago.
