Do you guys think Nintendo will focus on MK8 updates/DLC for Switch, or just release it and move onto MK9?

I mean they should have more incentives for people to pay their online sub so doing more content for MK8D should be fairly obvious. But this is Nintendo we are talking about so who knows.

Comgnet, showing they don't care, are already taking preorders for Dragon Quest XI.

Since I am on mobile and in conference wanna give numbers so that I have an excuse to not pay attention?

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

[3DS] Dragon Quest XI - 10pt
[PS4] Dragon Quest XI - 9pt

Also, for whatever reason, Ultra Street Fighter II is already there with 8pt (personally, I was expecting the Mana collection to show up).

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
I mean if your looking at potential future install bases he's probably not wrong.

They will just get SF2 from the VC for much cheaper or play Smash Bros. ..the market for this release is quite limited.

Exactly, the only thing that will hold SF2 back at launch is the switch's installed base will still be small (maybe a million if its lucky) but i would expect small but steady legs as the system continues to sell, I'm salivating over table top mode it'll be like a portable sf2 arcade cabinet

I don't think MK8 will get DLC again. It's a re-release already super packed, and most of the MK team will release their new game in some months.
MK8 deluxe will be well enough for the next years, and I'd guess a MK9 will more depend on the hardware life (aka if it's short life followed by whatever, it'll be there instead).

I'm not even sure this is true given how Japan seems to feel about the game.

The fighting hardcore in Japan are probably just in arcades :p

If Street Fighter sells it will be because Switch owners really really need/want something to play.

Are we back to the WiiU excuses when a game sold well? Or did I miss a /s?

Hmm? I'm merely arguing Capcom could benefit from the launch window- there aren't that many physical releases and typically I doubt this type of title would do anything at retail. I don't think its a negative comment on Switch owners- if anything, it would show they are willing to buy software. We'll see.

Mario Kart, Splatoon, 3D World, NSBWU, Smash 4 etc. It's a common argument. I'd say at launch he's right but that's true of every system.

Those are all Nintendo games that were expected to do well no matter what, besides Splatoon, which was a surprise. I don't think any of those games really outperformed what they were supposed to do with the Wii U install base due to "lack of other games to buy", again, besides Splatoon.

Ok got you, makes more sense. Agreed.

What games on the Wii U sold well?

See above. But seriously, you don't remember all the posts about how "it's normal that Splatoon/[insert game] sold well, they had nothing else to play", while forgetting the ones that didn't sell well at all, making this argument a bit stupid.

Which makes the lack of an arcade version mind-boggling.

If that were true every first party release would've sold well.

That's not the question remotely. You asked if they sold well and that's exactly what they did comparative to the userbase.

I was more of trying to respond to the fact that no one made excuses about certain Wii U games selling well because they had nothing else to buy on the system, besides maybe Splatoon.

I will say despite it not having many, seeing. Street Figher 2 hopefully means it'll have an opener by on par with Bomberman or DQH.
By the way could something me explain why Bomberman which has poor word of
mouth is showing good legs?

Isn't the local multiplayer fine though? That's mostly what people buy Bomberman for anyways, right?

Imagine being told in 2012 that the PS3 would be outselling the Wii U in 2017.

PS3 is only selling that much this week and last week because Sony said they're discontinuing it. It went from like 200-300 sales to 2000. Will drop off totally after that, just like when the PSP was discontinued. However, back in like 2013 the PS3 did almost outsell the Wii U....

Jesus at the the XB1 LTD...Microsoft will not be releasing Scorpio there right?
Probably not. It was a last second decision to finally release the XB1 in Japan at all. Both Microsoft and Sony are no longer interested in the Japanese market it seems.

Even if it's by a small amount, I'm surprised to see 3DS selling more in the last FY than 2 years ago.

It almost feels like the Switch didn't replace the 3DS and instead enhanced its sales lol

I imagine both the switch and the PS4 ate into the Vita's marketshare while the 3DS is carrying forward with it's large exclusive library attracting people it would have enticed if the switch didn't exist at all.

I know it's already been discussed, but a price drop this year could do wonders for the 3DS, and allow it to end its course on a high note. It wouldn't really hurt the Switch either, since there's not that much of an audience overlap among users yet to buy either in my opinion. Players who want to play Splatoon 2, MK8DX, Mario Odyssey will get a Switch for it, even if the 3DS is sold 10 000 Yen or something.

And for the laughs, teaser trailer for Ace Atorney pachislot.

Not the first one, there's already been one with animated cutscenes and all.

If Street Fighter sells it will be because Switch owners really really need/want something to play.

not sure about japan, but usfii has been doing pretty good on amazon in the us, and it's also been true of other sprite-based games and older franchises, even multiplatform games. disgaea, sonic mania, and puyo puyo tetris stand out. i think that having zelda and bomberman at launch brought a crowd that's fine with older franchises and games with sprites, and actively seeks them out.

3DS and Switch pretty much coexists until the handheld exclusive franchises jump to the newer hardware. 3DS will still live a good year.
