That guy from geimin bought Media Create Game Hakusho already (numbers through 2 January).

25th anniversary red Wii: 97.442
Torne: 784.000
Move: 170.000
Kinect: 90.000

Torne is why the PS3 has got a second wind. It is doing great numbers.

Kutaragi and Sony were once again ahead of the time. PSX was just 7 years too early.

Chris1964 said:
Kinect like X360 is dead. Everything that will come out for t will bomb hard.

Oh I know that, it's just lowered expectations and all that. I expected like a 70K Kinect install base in total for Japan.

Chris1964 said:
That shipment for Homefront looks very high looking at amazon, comgnet and recent releases of Killzone 3 and Crysis. Retailers or azalyn must overestimate it.

Spike is a whole lot better at promoting western games then Sony or EA

Torne: 784.000

Think the lordy we finally have numbers, I was bringing this up time and time again when everybody was going PS3 is ONLY SELLING because you can hack it now. Yes torne is how ps3 sells with no actual software.

New round of big-ass PSP boxes...

This one is worse though because there's no normal sized SKU, either you get it big or you don't get it new, Ninokuni style.

I wonder how many boxes they'll manage to ship this time... After Ninokuni retailers must be a little bit wary...

The DS approach really seems straightforwardly correct to me: drive heavy upfront with strong first-party software, then pull back after a year or so to let the third-parties step into the breach.
But that was at Christmas, dude.

Those titles will be available for the 3DS's first Christmas as well.

3DS needs a good 10 months of word-of-mouth/in-person promotion to capitalize on the big push. Of course Nintendo knew people would need to see it to believe it (and thus to justify buying it).

But rather than, in the meantime, all the early adopters just going with Super Mario Galaxy 3D or Mario Kart 3DS, Nintendo is using this time as a grace period for third parties, which Iwata himself made clear to stockholders themselves.

So if projections were too high, projections were too high. They were projecting sales for a peculiar system (selling point has to be seen) during a peculiar season (Feb-March), during peculiar events in Japan (causing game and promotional delays).

Sure, you can consider that a mistake, and sure, shareholders will be worried as a result, but again, it's not 'laughably provable' that it is, indeed, a strategic mistake that will necessarily hurt Nintendo in any remarkable way in the long term whereby another strategy would have been more successful (in the long term) given the peculiar circumstances.

Luckily you can just toss the robot model aside, and just play the game.

The reason it's there is so that Scamco can sells tonnes of model kits by getting kids well aware of the stuff there.

OK, the only logical explanation for the continued lack of supply of Joker 2: Pro is that Nintendo is ready to ship 1 million copies for Pilotwings Resort in Japan.

No idea if you are being sarcastic but DQJM2 situation is really clear:

1. Square-enix games have been preforming entirely under exceptions
2. Retailers along with the low pre-orders took this into account and had incredibly reserved orders.
3. For reasons that could be argued, unusually right before release pre-orders drastically increased.

4. It's still fun-fun rom carts, they take a few weeks to order. the earthquake damaging factories doesn't help things that much.

seeing the NSMB sales and how far it is from SMB atm, how much it would take to sell the remaining ~700k at the current rate?

Last week, NSMB charted at 35th place, and 22th place sold 6000 units, so i guess that 35th place is somewhere around 3000 - 4000 units. If we say 4000, and it needs to sell 700k, then it will take 175 weeks (over 3 years).

We're now 0/2 on the no proof 3DS edition front (though both could happen, but it's clear that no MH3DS has been announced at Captivate, nor was Cardboard Senki delayed for a 3DS port). Yay for conjecture that has no base in reality!

In less me being an ass news, despite likely selling less than 10k it appears ClaDun 2 was indeed a profitable venture. Low budgets allow for money to be made on low sales.

More at 11.

Things look better for 3DS now that many delayed games have been redated but April remains empty and the mega seller that will drive its sales at Golden Week is Deca Sports 3D.

By the way Golden Week this year is a disaster.

Boring weeks of fun:

Famitsu's analysis:
Earth Defence Force 2 Portable off to great start, sold out at some shops, DQMJ2 continues to have shortages.

1. Earth Defence Force 2 Portable
2. Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 Professional
3. Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection
4. Amagami
5 Dynasty Warriors 7
6. Nintendogs + cats (all types)
7. Kimi ni Todoke: Communicate Feelings
8. Monster hunter potable 3
9. Dissidia 012 (Duodecim) Final Fantasy
10. ARE YOU ALICE?

Curious, as the only thing that seems to sell for x-box 360 is point cards, have we ever gotten anything at all from microsoft in any region to give us a clue on how many sales they get for them?

I refuse to believe a 13 year old game will be a system seller :(

It'll sell well, but a system seller?

You mean to tell me that you don't believe the Remaking of the game arguably considered to be the BEST GAME EVER MADE and from one of the most well known Nintendo franchises ever, could possibly be considered as a game that could sell someone onto the 3DS?

Interesting...

How poorly/well did Deca Sports DS do?
The only data point I know if it made the Top 1000 for 2009. It was a late-year release anyway so it didn't have much time to accumulate, but Famitsu has it at 4,366 after 11 days.

Well, I think it'll boost hardware short-term, but that's pretty much all.

I wonder just how good EDF2 Portable start is, could mean some serious money for D3.

On PSP its 5040Y for the normal edition and 6279Y for the double pack (2 UMDs of the game), for example azalyn sold out on the weekend with 6 copies sold of the former and 16 of the latter.

Being #1 it must be close if not above original, cheapo EDF2, although reaching its LTD is way more unlikely. I'd really like a breakdown of versions but I feel we won't get one from any tracker...

Not surprising. The lack of games, the domination of the DS for so long and the rise of the PSP and with the 3DS just being launched why shouldn't Wii sales drop like a rock. Those that wanted one most likely got one. We know hand held gaming is big in Japan and really the Wii isn't offering much at the moment and hasn't been for a while in Japan I believe.

Interestingly the DS isn't selling anymore it seems now that the 3DS is out. I thought sale would continue there and the switch would take some time.
