they could give first-party titles a month each starting in July:
July: Splatoon 2
August: Fire Emblem Warriors
September: Smash Deluxe
October: Mario Odyssey
November: Pokemon Stars
December: Xenoblade

With arms in june and mario kart legs carrying the console through may?

There is no way Mario Odyssey comes out earlier than November. It's Nintendo's flagship title for holidays.

Meh. I think that result is showing it's about time for Gust to drop Vita. Between this and Atelier Firis it's not really pulling its weight in multi-plat sales anymore (likely down to the fact that the audience is finally tired of poor-quality ports).

But otherwise, pretty crappy week for everything huh? Musou Stars slightly better than the bomba games like Arslan and Berserk but not by much; Blue Reflection just about hanging on to decent FW sales but nowhere close to Nights of Azure (or Atelier at its peak) and Mario Sports will probably have legs but it's still not great.

Meh.

Koei Tecmo managed to singlehandedly sabotage their Vita audience with shitty ports for over two years, it was about time numbers went down, with the exception that PS4 numbers aren't increasing to make up for that loss.

Yeah, that makes sense, although I would interchange Pokémon and Mario, seeing as Mario is scheduled for holiday 2017. If only of the two conjectures happens to be real (Smash or Pokémon), I could see Xenoblade taking the September spot, Mario launching at the very end of November, and the big conjectured title taking October.

Shocked that 2 titles on the switch in the top 20

2 titles should be he norm at the very least. The only time it might not have 2 is in between Mario Kart and Arms, and that depends on Zelda's long term legs. I foresee it having a full enough stamina meter to last in the top 20 through June at least.

Stars in October, Odyssey November, Monster Hunter December? Recreate the 3DS triple threat with Pokemon replacing Mario Kart. With the effects of Splatoon and Mario Kart still going this would be a massive holiday. And they have some pretty easy games to bundle as well.

As long as Switch continues to sell through it's stock, it's a good sign. It may be a while before we actually know how this console is going to continue to do in Japan. The initial adopters haven't all grabbed one yet.

Prerty sure i read read some retailers were still allocating by raffle, i think they'll be selling all they ship for some time yet

It seems the surprise it's Gundam Versus for July 6th.

At least it isn't very far from June. PS4 release schedule is super slim for this quarter, Sony promoted Summer Lesson as the big release and it won't be a surprise if it is the top seller or among system's top 3.

Depending on which tracker is more correct Double Cross shipment for FY will be >1,5m or >1,6m.

Far from Capcom's 2m but It could be worse if sales after first week weren't strong.

That leaves only RE7 in question if Capcom came close to 4m with Dead Rising 4 bombing.

All those games in 2017. Pokemon in November, Mario too, Xenoblade 2 in October, FE Warriors at the end of August, Smash in September.
Mario AND Pokemon in the same month ? Did that already happenned ?
Not that I don't believe it but I just can't remember at all.
Xeno in October, I would be very pleased.

I'd be pretty happy with that though I'd ask for Mario or Smash to be swapped with Xenoblade please : P.
And I can't see Mario before the end of November, but I may be wrong.
Can't wait for news.

Not sure, but Pokemon is usually out in november, and mainline 3D mario too.
It happens. Like Mario and Zelda together, or Metroid, etc. Nintendo loves this month for their biggest games.

Erm not really true anymore, may have been the case for early titles but the past 4 gens have seen releases in sept-nov period. Only Sun and Moon have been released in November.

Sun/moon - November
X/Y - October
Black/White 2 - June (october)
Black/White - September (march)
Diamond/Pearl - September (April)

I'm expecting October for Pokémon Stars (if it exists) closely followed by Mario in November. Nice 1-2 so when Pokémon sales slow, Mario is there in the rebound. Monster Hunter XX port in December would make a pretty awesome triple bill in Japan.

I'm actually surprised it didn't sell more. I'd have thought turn-based high-school magical-girl JRPG would be right up Gust's target audience alley. Guess not.

well I put XC2 last cause I still don't really believe it'll make it this year :p i also vaguely recall XCX being a december game?

If consoles and handhelds were still separate, I'd have put both mario and pokemon in november, but I decided to write that list out with the game I expect to sell way more receiving the november spot. Looking at those other games' release dates, though, I guess pokemon doesn't need to be as close to the holiday as possible. Mario's probably gonna get more positive press too, so I guess that does work better in the high-publicity spot if both rumored games are real.

Longest uninterrupted runs on Famitsu Top 30

01. [PS4] Minecraft: PlayStation Vita Edition - 107 weeks
02. [GB] Pokémon Red / Green / Blue - 104 weeks
03. [NDS] Animal Crosing: Wild World - 100 weeks

05. [NDS] Brain Age - 97 weeks
06. [WII] Wii Fit - 96 weeks
07. [NDS] Brain Age 2 - 94 weeks
08. [WIU] Splatoon - 87 weeks
09. [WII] Wii Play - 87 weeks
10. [NDS] New Super Mario Bros. - 79 weeks

A Microsoft game published by Sony on the Vita tops a list of Nintendo games. Now that's something.

Note that this is starting from 1995 which is the oldest complete year we have, there is the chance that Super Mario Bros. or World had a longer run, mainly the former as that was still popping up on Top 30 as late as the 1991 holiday, six full years after release.

Also for the DS and Wii games that was during a time when the lowest game on top 30 would sell 5k - 10k it didn't had the low floor as we have know and would've have longer runs given the situation, also some of this game faced supply constrained months after release and would suffer some crazy drops and increases due to that.

It's also worth noting that when aligning launches, during the same weeks where Minecraft was averaging 5k per week Pokémon was averaging 50k.

LTD after 5 weeks

01. Nintendo DS - 1.495.593
02. Game Boy Advance - 1.367.434
03. PlayStation 2 - 1.134.882
04. Wii - 989.118
05. Nintendo 3DS - 792.954
06. Wii U - 709.001
07. Nintendo Switch - 556.633
08. PlayStation Portable - 506.496
09. PlayStation Vita - 501.262
10. PlayStation 4 - 467.648
11. Nintendo 64 - 436.849
12. PlayStation - 280.000
13. Dreamcast - 270.095
14. PlayStation 3 - 243.146
15. WonderSwan - 233.936
16. Nintendo GameCube - 207.105

Saturn did 300k - 500k don't remember exactly.

Notice how Wii U is on the upper half of this list yet the only system to sell less than it in the end was the Dreamcast.

So some fun data from game data library. So we have the platforms from best-selling to worst selling, the # of titles on the system, and its hardware sales. Kind of crazy how few titles the 3DS got despite being selling so well hardware wise... Not sure if the Vita # is somewhat inflated by visual novels and the like or something. And it actually looks like the XB1 might not catch the Virtual Boy.... that's pretty sad T_T.

Musou Stars just never made sense to me. Most people would look at it as a Warriors Orochi sequel, and compared to that it was clearly very lacking in content. Obviously there were gameplay changes, but it's not like it breaks out of the Musou mold due to them, so cutting all the basis built from WO3 is just a weird choice.

I just think it's really sad how nearly every Mario spinoff except for Mario Kart has been pulled down the drains over the years.

Paper Mario, Mario & Luigi, Mario Party, Mario Tennis, they're all now shells of their former selfs.

they could give first-party titles a month each starting in July:
July: Splatoon 2
August: Fire Emblem Warriors
September: Smash Deluxe
October: Mario Odyssey
November: Pokemon Stars
December: Xenoblade

With arms in june and mario kart legs carrying the console through may?
Almost every month in 2017 except for May or June will not have a 1st party title.

March: Zelda and 1,2 Switch
End of April: MK8D
May 26th: A.R.M.S.
July- Splatoon 2
August: Fire Emblem Warriors
September: Smash Deluxe
October: Pokemon Stars
November: Super Mario Odyssey
December: Xenoblade 2

Although I'm skeptical of Pokemon Stars on Switch and I think we could see other titles appear for this year that could surprise us at E3 but who knows. Also FE:Warriors was listed as fall 2017 so that makes me think an October release is more likely

Koei Tecmo managed to singlehandedly sabotage their Vita audience with shitty ports for over two years, it was about time numbers went down, with the exception that PS4 numbers aren't increasing to make up for that loss.
At some point KT will have to realize that they have run Atelier into the ground as an annual franchise. They really need to allow breaks between releases and yeah the Vita ports will ah e to be dropped. Maybe Switch ports could take over but considering "quality" of KT's PC ports I wouldn't hold my fingers crossed that if Switch ports happen they will be high quality.
