Media Create Sales: Week 13, 2017 (Mar 27 - Apr 02)

I think Splatoon 2 will be bigger than Odyssey in Japan (since that is what the statement pertains to) personally. Seeing Super Mario 3D World sales (a hair short of 100k), Splatoon 2 outselling Super Mario Odyssey seems like a very distinct possibility.

It's not really a distinct possibility, it's a gurantee. No 3D Mario has ever sold nearly as much as Splatoon since 64 (though the two Galaxy games did manage to crack 1m).

Sure, but given the Switch is still behind the Wii U's failed launch and the 3DS's first good month, there's still a lot more catch up to do for Switch right?

Totals after 5 weeks of sales:
792,954 - 3DS
694,370 - Wii U
565,013 - Switch
501,262 - Vita
470,011 - PS4

It would mean something if stock was sitting on shelves, but it's not. I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo allocated a little less to Japan since Splatoon 2 is going to be a definite system seller in the summer months and make sure other regions like NA have more units in the important launch period.

3D Mario is not as big in Japan as 2D Mario, so that pretty much guarantees it.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
It was about 5k higher, adjusting with 13k is a bit overdoing it.

They also went with adjustments for several games as well: Zelda at 20,966 (29,307 for Famitsu), 1-2-Switch at 11,784 (16,517 for Famitsu), plus a big weekly drop for Bomberman (-49%, 3,859); less for DQH I-II (-26%, 3,062). Puyo Puyo Tetris saw a mere 14% drop, at 2,812, hero XD

EDIT: Actually, it's possible they went with adjustments especially for software. There were several Switch games higher on Famitsu than MC

Splatoon 2 will definitely outsell Super Mario Odyssey and pretty much any Switch game. If Pokémon gets announced it would be the only game that has a chance.

420k for Zelda. Nice. Should take about 3 weeks to reach 500k, but Switch needs to be on stock.

While almost impossible at this point, I'm still on board to 1 million for Zelda train lol.

Im 100% in agreement it will cross 1million when its all said and done. May take a year plus, but I feel pretty good that it will happen.

It all depends how well it holds up when mario kart launches and eats its lunch, the wii u version will probably finish up at about 150k so 850k from the switch version is still a big ask

The Wii U didn't have a failed launch--it was actually quite good. The problem was right after the holiday season, sales fell off a cliff and never recovered.

If we speak Japan only, the last Animal Crossing game, New Leaf, outsold Pokemon X/Y and Sun/Moon (not by much)

If you count only first 2 weeks then yes, Wii U had a good launch.

On the Famitsu's comment, they say that this week starts the new fiscal year. So probably they're adjusting the numbers.

How does Blue Reflection compare to Yori no nai Kuni?

04./00. [PS4] Yoru no Nai Kuni # <RPG> (Koei Tecmo) {2015.10.01} (¥7.344) - 35.907 / NEW
05./00. [PSV] Yoru no Nai Kuni # <RPG> (Koei Tecmo) {2015.10.01} (¥6.264) - 32.904 / NEW

Quite a drop between the Vita versions of the two games.

If we're making that comparison, then neither version picked up the PS3's sales either:

Nintendo will try to revive 3d Mario sales with Odyssey like Zelda but it has no chance against Splatoon in Japan.

I know it's not a barometer of sales but I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the Mario Odyssey trailer Youtube views - almost 19 million vs 12 and 10 million views for the two main Zelda trailers.

I wonder if it's possible that like Pokemon Go, Super Mario Run has given Mario a whole new boost and new audience. I imagine a young kid liking Run and then seeing the Odyssey trailer and immediately being blown away by it and wanting it.

So in January I (and many others) predicted sales number for Switch in 2017.
Back then I was expecting 2-2.5M but looking at the sales and overall enthusiasm in Japan for the console I think it's safe to say that it will be higher than that.

The question is how high though, >3M is probably à lock but can it reach 4M or even more?

There's likely smash as well

I personally think Smash is gonna be their big late Summer / Fall title. Announcement at or near E3 (including another Nintendo World Championship?) and release early September or so.

Pokémon Stars and Mario Odyssey will be plenty for the Christmas season, especially if they also market Zelda/MK8DX/Splatoon and whatever else they have. There's also Xenoblade 2 and some other unannounced games.

I completely think MK8D will sell great, but I don't really see it affecting BoTW sales too much, very different games and they will both be "must haves". I can very easily see a scenario where BoTW still sells to 25% of new switch buyers even after MK8D launches.

I will be surprised if by next summer BoTW isn't sitting right around 1mil when you combine switch and wii u sales.

I think it has more to do with it being the 3D Mario game people have wanted since Sunshine (sandbox) and it garnered so much positivity.

I could see zelda holding up that much after mk and before splatoon but it'll probably start to slip more then

Since Nintendo wants to spread releases, when exactly do you see Smash, Pokemon "Stars", Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade 2... assuming they are all released before the end of December ?
For some reason I feel like one or some of the big games could end up between January and March 2018 or even later.

And what seems the most probable month for Splatoon, I'd really like it to be released before August, how likely is it ? If there's any indicator to guess that.

Just realised MK8D launch is aligned with Golden Week... this will be funny

Not their first golden week after all, smart move :p

It's an emergency! Quick someone mention
Monster Hunter for PS4

NO

edit for above:
All those games in 2017. Pokemon in November, Mario too, Xenoblade 2 in October, FE Warriors at the end of August, Smash in September.

they could give first-party titles a month each starting in July:
July: Splatoon 2
August: Fire Emblem Warriors
September: Smash Deluxe
October: Mario Odyssey
November: Pokemon Stars
December: Xenoblade

With arms in june and mario kart legs carrying the console through may?
