Are you talking about the DS or 3DS? Capcom supported the 3DS far more than any third party. S-E was a heavy supporter of the DS but backed out of 3DS early. They did continue supporting it with Dragon Quest though.

Capcom definitely did. Square barely supported the 3DS even after bravely did very on the 3DS they put out a very low effort sequel with recycled content. Capcom litterally put lot if it's strongest games with plenty of ecpansion effort.

3DS. I don't recall exactly what Capcom released beside five MonHun games, but Square had quite a lot of JRPGs. Most of them were Dragon Quest though.

I mean, beside Dragon Quest, what did S-E release? Why does DQ count and not MH?

Ex troopers revelations, street fighter some other cross media franchise games thing I forget the name of ,stories etc. They put in waaaay more than the generally low budget JRPg's square did

3? Ace Attorney games, Street Fighter IV, 2 resident Evil games... and some bombs too.

I'm not saying MH doesn't count, just that I don't recall Capcom releasing much else. They did two Ace Attorney and a Resident Evil though.
Besides Dragon Quest they did two Bravely, FF Explorers, Kingdom Hearts 3D, Heroes of Ruin and, well, ten thousands different DQ games.

What are we expecting from the DQXI announcement in 5 days?
A release date for all 3 versions (same day). Guessing July~September. Package illustration art, more gameplay, Switch hands on gameplay, racist old guy probably showcasing a new piece of music, Toriyama not showing up, Horii being Horii.

After the interview with Matsuda I'm even hoping for a worldwide release for DQXI announcement. C'mon SE!

Okay, but you're using different scale for DQ and MH for some reason. MH was a much bigger part of the 3DS than DQ, especially when the biggest DQ game isn't even out yet.

There was two RE games and more than two AA games on 3DS as well, but perhaps you're only counting big entries there for some reason. I just don't understand the metric you're using here. I mean, maybe you just follow S-E more so you remember shitty things like Heroes of Ruin from them but not things like E.X. Troopers and Gaist Crusher from Capcom? Most of S-E's efforts on 3DS were pretty low budget as well, including the second Bravely game and that FF spinoff that flopped.

It's three Ace Attorney, one could even argue 3.5 with Layton vs AA and part of the Capcom staff being involved.
Resident Evil was two games also, even though the first was light on content to be there at launch.
And Street Fighter IV was the big third party game at launch too.
Ex Troopers was the Lost Space IP custom made for 3DS;
Gaist Crusher was a big investment and at first there was a certain game named Megaman Legends 3 which was scheduled.

Capcom invested heavily on 3DS very early, there's no denying that.

I count 7 MonHun games. Are you forgetting Stories and the Animal Crossing clone?

Also aside from the ones people have already mentioned (Ace Attorney/Resident Evil) I'll mention the one people always forget... Gaist Crusher x 2. Lol.

I mean wasn't RE Rev. out within the first few months of the system? I thought it did decently at retail too (not huge numbers but don't remember it being a complete flop). I loved the game myself and was one of the reasons I bought a 3DS

It came out the January 2012 after its first holiday season. It had mostly underwhelming sales, not a complete bomb though.

Ah, for some reason I thought it was pretty quick after launch. Loved the game. I remembered it selling enough to definitely be profitable, but not like it was a huge seller.

It was Mercenaries 3D that was out soon after launch.

Which was a cheapo cash-in and muddied the waters for Revelations later release.

Ahhh that's right. Didn't play that one, no interest in that aspect of RE. Its a fun side mode to main games, but not as a standalone game.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Capcom was the most important partner for Nintendo. MH "killed" the Vita, RE games and SF43D were among the most impressive titles for the system and the fact that MT Framework was ported to 3DS resulted in more excitement for the Hardware,

SE had the usual DQ Remakes, the only remarkable addition was KH3D early on....but otherwise their 3DS support was lackluster because Vita/Mobile were easier to target for their titles.

Bravely Default was also a pretty key title. Shame what they did to it after it was successful.

It's a spin off of a spin off?

Even if you consider it that instead of a new IP, not sure why that matters? Spin offs can become their own thing if successful. Plus the spin off it was loosely connected to wasn't that well received, so the fact that it did well coming off that was surprising.

I'm not using a particular metric lol, it was just from the top of my mind. I admit that I forgot about the games that never come out (like both Dai AA), and it's probably true that since I'm more interested in Square than in Capcom I remember their games most. I wasn't trying to analyse in depth third-party support, it was just some thoughts about the interview with Square CEO.

If we speak Japan only, the last Animal Crossing game, New Leaf, outsold Pokemon X/Y and Sun/Moon (not by much)

It's interesting what Nintendo IP sells the most each generation. For the 3DS it was Animal Crossing: New Leaf. For the Wii it was a tight race between Wii Sports / NSMB / Mario Kart Wii.

Dengeki added the missing units of Famitsu and ended higher than Media Create. End of Fiscal Year must be the reason for the big differences. Next week things should return to normal.

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.
Any way this could reach the lofty heights of 100k?

I think that's pretty much a guarantee. It's selling very consistently week to week depending on the size of the Switch shipment.

What are some MC/Famitsu Japan sales archives available? I know there was a few but I can't find them.

For Famitsu there's gamedatalibrary.

Also Dengeki had a weird typo in their chart...

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

What's interesting is that the same can be said, more or less, for DQHI-II and Puyo Puyo Tetris as well. And again, Puyo Puyo Tetris keeps on being the under-the-radar overperformer of the past few weeks, given the context.

Famicom Mini and PS4 Pro have become much easier to find last weeks. If Sony decides to ship more than the 1000-2000 PSVR they send to retailers every week, soon supply will meet demand for that hardware too.

I'm pretty sure SE is pretty happy about DQ Heroes 1-2 sales.
Last week the game was at more than 40 000 unit sold for around 500 000 Switch sold.
It's a solid number for a port with such a small install base.

Should manage to eek its way north of 70k which with the high price should make it a nice little earner for SE

Clearly. And I checked the first week. It gets a close rate with a little more than 20K for a little more than 300 000 Switch.
Lots of brand new games on platforms with bigger install base don't even sell 20K first week.

3DS: 3.5m (+24%)
PS4: 2.9m (+28%)
PSV: 900k (-51%)
SWI: 681k
WIU: 271k (-75%)
PS3: 78k (-87%)
XB1: 7.6k (-31%)

Total sales of retail Vita software surpassed 22 million this week, PS4 should be getting to 19 million before the end of the month.

Thanks to a strong performance of the PS4, 3DS and the new Switch we're not up YoY, just by 5% but its the first positive result in a long time.

Dengeki only gives shipment for Mario Sports this week, 80.000 units.

The Switch is showing unparalleled growth % YoY.

It is as if it conjured itself from the cosmic aether, set the speed of light to 2.98e8, and defined all universal constants such that, on this day, I could make that dumb claim.

Pretty impressive that even without MHXX, 3DS Software would still be flat/slightly down YoY. I mean, the line-up has been anything but stellar this Q1.

As for Mario Sports Superstars, I think it should be able to sell those 80k in the upcoming weeks. GW will be key though.
