Not even sure why Vita vs 4DS is even a topic when the Vita hasn't even been competing sales-wise with the 3DS....

How many new IP have a shot to sell 1 million units in Japan?Juggernaut is a very strong word.
No.The poodle?
Vita and 3DS' fans shouldn't be arguing about this beat that, because it looks so sad when someone's dancing on being a victor when the house is all burning all around him.
Instead, we should hold hands together
...Really though, it's a bit worrying the trends so far in Japan for fans of traditional gaming.
No.
They went with the colors Gold and Silver.
What other franchise went with those colors for the sequels?
They're gonna try and go big time.
at least they didn't go with diamond or pearl, otherwise, it would have been a horrid boring mess :^)

According to Japanese blogs, Hino said to Famitsu they have already manufactured 1 million copies of Youkai Watch.
Retailers will probably buy them all. It's just a matter of time now.
What's stopping Nintendo from releasing a region free 3DSi(break the cycle)? I know I would buy it even though I already have access to the 3 regions.
Why would they want to lose the revenue from the people that buy 2 or 3 pieces of the same hardware?

The entire argument hinges a lot on 'what if's. Maaaaybe there's room for Vita to grow tremendously via some phenomenon like Monster Hunter or maybe it'll be more like a PS3 that just lingers on. We don't know. What we do know is that current hardware and software sales do not paint a picture of the kind of longevity that'd be necessary for Vita to remain competitive past the conventional lifespan of a handheld. It's crazy that a 25k week is bringing up these 'out there' theories all of a sudden.
That is not the argument at all. The Vita does not need MH to get more third party support. It´s already getting plenty. Which would make 3DS successor compete with third party coming to Vita.
Lol at anyone who think 4DS will release in 2016. 2015 at the latest.
There is no reason for Nintendo to release a successor for the 3DS in 2015...
Maybe. But on the other hand, less than 30k total hardware units across all SKUs in the home territory when you aren't doing well abroad either is unsustainable and bound to create a sense of urgency, even in a traditionally-insular company like Nintendo.

There is. Hardware sales are in decline in all territories and support is slowly dwindling down from both first and third party. They have to announce the successor while the 3DS is still fresh and well regarded in everybody's mind, otherwise they're going to end up with a Wii -> Wii U situation again where the old console has been basically dead for the last few years and consumers lost their interest in the brand.
I'm expecting the 3DS successor to hit in early 2015. If they wait too long, it's going to bomb.

I fully expect Nintendo to make the same mistake again, especially since their QoL platform must be dominating their hardware division for the next year plus.
Odd how Dengeki always has the Vita so much lower than other trackers.
Removed irrelevant trackers.This week

They stopped tracking Vita TV recently.
That only counts for 1'000 units. Difference is quite bigger than that.

early 2015 or bomb.....aaaaaaalright. This is not how this things work. Comparing their HH Business with the console Business sounds very wrong. They have strong 3rd Party boundrys in Japan for their HH and the most of the High Quality HH Games are coming to the 3DS not the Vita.
I see moves from Nintendo for Japan lately that show me they start taking Japanese handheld market more seriously. MH4U only one year after MH4, Smash coming to 3DS first, Animal Crossing/Youkai Watch promotion. A price drop or a redesign must not be very far and the time of DQXI announcement the same. Sales of summer and later will show how longer Nintendo can rely on 3DS.
But of cource 4DS isn't coming at earky 2015 no matter how bad Nintendo plans for 3DS will go.
Doesn't this depend on how much worse the 3DS sells next year? It's hovering around 20-30k a week and if it drops 50% YoY it's going to be 10-15k. Software sales will be great but Can Nintendo really sustain a near dead 3DS HW sales if Vita keeps on selling better YoY?
I wonder what will happen with the Vita support once the publisher start moving over to PS4. Many of the PS3/Vita games arent ports in the "traditional way" (as in releasing for another platform later on), but they are rather multiplatform games. Is it easy to do a PS4/Vita game? I know that some indie game(s) comes out on PS4/Vita, but i wonder if its an easy process that can be done for most games.Of course Vita needs something like MH. For now, the only 3rd party support it's getting is niche, port of PS3 titles, support. Why do you think that best selling Vita titles are hunting games ?
