PSP still strong.

No real compelling software. Will Golden Weeks sales be represented next week?

This week's sales (and part of last week's) were for golden week.

EDIT: which is why there are so many Nintendo Legacy titles jumping up the charts, and probably why 360 is selling 3-4k units instead of 1-2k.

Not much of a golden week bump for 3ds, and considering psp dropped considerably during golden week, I'm guessing it was sold out again after that new shipment that came in the week before.

Ps3 is falling though, they need to do something to keep it at the 30s until fall/Xmas.

Go, go Patapon 3!

D3 must be making some $$$ off of EDF 2 Portable.

Lastly, Final Promise Story will have to crawl to 100k. 150k was the expectation/hope...

Nintendo must be loving that they have two handhelds both selling well.

Well, I guess that's the half full perspective.

Both lose compared to the PSP's sales, and the DS's sales aren't impressive given it's three separate models contributing to those numbers. 3DS as a whole hasn't done very well.

I didn't read any sellout reports. It's still in stock at amazon.

Maybe there was limited supply at some places but not a shortage.

Oh right, didn't notice the bump.

Anyone living in Japan who can relate what the PSP stock was like in stores? Amazon availability is not really a good indicator for Japan as most people still prefer to walk into physical stores and buy.

Imageepoche still has a long way to go if they ever want to become that company that regularly releases 300k titles. :p

DQ on the other doesn't even have to try and pulls some considerable numbers. Did SE ever say what expectations they had for DQMJ2P? It seems like they already doubled their expectations considering how conservative the first shipment was.

And Typing with the Pokemans is hard to find I guess?

Looks like the 3DS has leveled out, should start to pick back up with some software releases.
It's a difference of 600 from last week. I'd hardly call that significant enough to say for sure the 3DS has leveled out.

Didnt it sell about the same amount the week before last as well?

EDIT

Nvm looks like it had dropped down to 23k that week.

Oh, really? :(
What's your source exactly? Comgnet, just Amazon or...?

I just figured Gungnir makes a fairly traditional impression for a Dept. Heaven game and would therefore appeal to a wider audience. And with the PSP being a pretty healthy platform lately it seemed like this could go pretty well.

Bring on Final Fantasy V and VI: The Complete Collection please! Those two especially would work better then typical 3D polys.

Actually the DS numbers are pretty good considering its successor is out and it already has an installed base of over 32m.

Agreed about 3DS, though.

Hm, perhaps 3DS has stabilized at the >27K mark nice. PSP impressive! El Shaddai wont crack 90K, I thought they had good marketing for it?

Good marketing = good first week sales, the game doesn't have anything to sustain legs though, trade in prices have crashed, the game is filled up in used sales. (still compare the game to god of war 3/ everything else in the genre except bayonetta and DMC4) and you can consider it impressive.

3DS went up, interesting. Maybe it has already bottomed out. Nintendogs also went up.

Nintendo put forth a nice wave of commercials during golden week.

Used is extremely easy to get, every shop has a good amount, new is sold out at a few places, but no trouble finding them.

Retailer blogs putting typing with pokemon has undershipping(beat everyone's exceptions) next shipment is the middle of this month.

slaughterking said:
Oh right, I actually saw that yesterday. :lol

Oh well, seems like it could still do some decent numbers. It's not like we were ever destined to play this outside of Japan anyway, so it may as well burn and die. :p
Given that Atlus USA has brought the previous Dept. Heaven games over, I hope they won't pass on Gungnir.

sinobi gave a leak before the retailer meeting later today, but for the least interesting game.

GoldenEye is June 30, 5800 yen.

I'm not disagreeing with the fact that they should be reported a hundred times more, however, do you really think games of such magnitude would be lumped together today? SE won't be making the same mistake they did on the PS1 by selling 2 games for the price of 1 (and at a lower price at that as well).

Besides that, do you know what's the whole point of Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection right? It's the original game together with it's sequel, The After Years. There's nothing like that for V and VI.

What we need instead, are remakes on 3DS or NGP or on something, not nice to be teased about them and then just stop after IV.

Eh, what?

[GBA] Riviera: The Promised Land (Sting) {2004.11.25} - 9.540 / 16.467
[GBA] Yggdra Union (Sting) {2006.03.23} - 17.728 / 36.172
[NDS] Knights in the Nightmare (Sting) {2008.09.25} - 9.301 / 23.015
[NDS] Knights in the Nightmare (Dept. Heaven Episodes Series Special Pack) (Sting) {2008.09.25} - 4.200 / 4.200

Shipping more than 20k would actually be reckless.

Read the original comment by slaughterking. He said Gungnir could be Sting's most successful game. But at its current preorder rate, it won't be. FYI the PSP version of Yggdra is around 45,000 in sales.

Steel Diver releases this week over in Japan.

I wonder if that will have any affect on 3DS system sales. I mean, it certainly can't hurt... right?

I don't see Steel Diver doing much better than Pilotwings. 3DS (along with everything else) will be down next week after Golden Week. The question is how big the drop will be.

Looks like Final Fantasy IV Complete might crawl pass 200k. Was the game expected to do any better than that? Or has it met expectations?

I hope you're wrong, and sales remain steady for now. The system desperately needs a system seller or two soon.

Its never going to be Sting most successful game since their Dreamcast title Evolution did over 100k. However as I showed, their Dept. Heaven series only has 10-15k starts, so a 20k first shipment isn't anywhere close to "abysmal preorder numbers" because its actually a pretty reasonable number for them.
