What do you expect, so? Better numbers than last year?

You only need to look at the software sales of that fatal week:

Media Create Sales: Week 20, 2015 (May 11 - May 17)

01./00. [PS4] Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster <Final Fantasy X Final Fantasy X-2> <RPG> (Square Enix) {2015.05.14} (¥7.344) - 15.913 / NEW
02./01. [3DS] Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition <RPG> (GungHo Online Entertainment) {2015.04.29} (¥4.320) - 13.844 / 232.683 (-64%)
03./03. [PSV] Minecraft: PlayStation Vita Edition <ADV> (Sony Computer Entertainment) {2015.03.19} (¥2.592) - 11.303 / 155.278 (-37%)
04./02. [3DS] Style Savvy 3: Kira Kira Code <ETC> (Nintendo) {2015.04.16} (¥5.076) - 7.422 / 128.213 (-66%)
05./00. [PS4] Borderlands: The Handsome Collection <Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! Borderlands 2> <RPG> (Take-Two Interactive Japan) {2015.05.14} (¥6.804) - 6.922 / NEW

Full week:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1048920

Only three games sold more than 10k that week, and any of them more than 20k.

This year, Kirby will probably sell more than 20k on this week, and Uncharted 4 second week should be on the same range. Yo-kai Sankokushi will be over 10k for sure too.
The top 3 will be better, there're very small chances that this week becomes worse than last year.
Still it will be the second or third worst week, though.

How interesting.

So, according to the Capcom President himself, that Monster Hunter title projected to sell 2million isn't Monster Hunter Stories, but some other different Monster Hunter title.

Strange. So what is their estimation here on MH stories?
They didn't give one in that case.

We only had 2 million for "Monster Hunter", 4 million for a mystery game (presumably RE7), and 2 million for another mystery game (Capcom Vancouver?).

They don't give estimates for games that are expected to sell less than a million...

:O

Are they simply cautious, or?

In retrospect, 2m might have been a tad too optimistic, but below 1m sounds quite pessimistic.

Then again, after Gaist Crusher, I can't blame them for beign cautious with a kid-focused product.

Really wondering when we'll hear about the anime and stuff.

Welp. This game is going to have the same fate as DQJM 3 and P and D huh.TT

Guess they had little fate for the game here.TT

The comparison of Week 20, 2015 is with Week 19, 2016, the week of Uncharted. Both are the weeks after Golden Week.

I think that Horuhe was talking about week 20 2016, that it will be one of the lowest weeks ever. So that's Uncharted 4 second's week.

I think he's using MC calendar, but he should confirm it.

What if they're expecting Generations to sell 2 million in the west?
Definitely not

PS4 MonHun here we come!

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
2 millions, and it's not Stories?
It can't be just NX, not even the insanest launch of all time, combined with the highest attach ratio ever could allow that.

You know, I'm going with MHXG 3DS / NX
/PS4 too if cross-platform is a thing?

I can think about two possibilities regarding the Monster Hunter title.

1. Monster Hunter Generations G (Ultimate)

Since they will launch MHGen this July on the west, I doubt they will announce this version until September the earliest. Considering this, the game might probably launch not during 2016, but early next year, and probably just in Japan for the moment.
If so, since NX's launch date is planned by the same time, a 3DS-NX multi release could be expected.

2. Monster Hunter for home consoles

For PS4, and maybe One and PC too. In that case I think they will try to appeal to the west, since this numbers are impossible for an only Japan home console game. If so, an E3 unveiled seems legit, and also a worldwide release. Numbers seem optimistic for this, but it's Capcom.

Any other guesses?

I can't really imagine anything else that would feasibly be projected at 2 million units, especially if they feel MHS won't even reach 1 million copies, and have RE7 at a modest 4 million units.

I'm going to predict Monster Hunter Generations G for 3DS holiday release. I'm not expecting Capcom to wait until next March to release it, although they could chuck NX a 3-4month late port to try and quickly build a userbase on the device.

I feel MH for consoles will happen, but not until Capcom moves onto NX. So maybe next year. Same with the majority of Japanese third party games. PS4/NXHome/NXHandheld going forward.

The rumored MH online for PC and PS4?
With the global Asian market included in the forecast?

I highly doubt it's MHO seeing as to how it'll most likely be either F2P or subscription based.

Also, I suppose they would mention it's MHO, since it's already announced, and not a "Monster Hunter title". Just like Monster Hunter Stories.

Skimmed it. Doesn't really say much. They acknowledge that in the consumer game space there are increasingly more PS4 titles and the PSVR launch this year is going to be the spotlight of the industry. They also acknowledge that both domestic and overseas publishers are releasing a lot of digital stuff on PC using Steam as the main platform. They are committed to releasing more titles on Steam, including their back catalog, via NISA. But with regards to other consoles, they said they're actively looking into supporting the next generation of hardware - both PSVR and the NX, but it doesn't sound like a firm commitment.

Given RE7 and CVancouver's own project, on going work on SFV, and if their other HD projects are actually still alive, who's left for a major HD project with such low expectations for a major IP? That doesn't seem right even if they are being more cautious with expectations after the SF disaster. Maybe a PS4/Vita low budget spin-off? A 3DS spin-off?

Also feel like we'd have heard about this by now.

I'll put expectations on GX for the time being as that seems like a believable figure for such a release come this holiday. And it's standard modus operandi at this point for them. Also given how well G performed I'd be amazed if they didn't release an Ultimate version.

GX makes sense for a project we've not heard a word on either. It'd be a quick turn around.

I have a gut feeling that they're retooling Deep Down and giving it another name. It makes the most sense to me.

2 million would be quite low for a MH title.. Yet, I don't see how reachable would that be on PS4, as some people point out.

If it were an NX game, it'd need to sell that in just a single month, since it'd come out one month before the ending of this fiscal year. So, it wouldn't necessarily be a drop, just not enough time or userbase to go beyond that. Although, really, two millions only would be possible if the NX getting released at the time were a portable and with a really big supply.

If it's a 3ds game released earlier in the year, they seem to be expecting quite a large drop. X crossed 3.2 millions in Japan in 2 months, so 2 millions would be a big drop from it.

keep in mind this is my deciphering of machine translation.

-console market is shrinking, steam is increasing
-despite this, the next generation is starting with ps vr and nx
-packaged games will continue to be main source of revenue
(this is more of an overview of the market and their place in it)

in addition, they had the following plans:
-increase support for steam (mostly for overseas stuff)
-use nippon ichi vietnam for 3d tech tools
-have nis america bring over stuff like yomawari and criminal girls
-before the end of the fiscal year, release stuff like cladun sengoku and coven (and develop 'new masterpiece' in-house

revenue:
nis america: $24.6m (72.5% of total revenue - last year they were 62.7% of total revenue)
nippon ichi group: $33.9m

net income:
nis america: $2.6m
nippon ichi group: $2m

I think Option 1 is the most likely. Based on what you said, I'd say it could be:

1) Early December/February release on 3DS in Japan, west will not get this version. This is what the 2m prediction is for.
2) After that, NX release for the West, and Japan also gets it for extra sales. Would explain why Capcom didn't wait for the G version for the western release of MHX, like they did for MH4.

Basically, almost what Capcom did for MH3U, but in a shorter timeframe.

I don't think a console game (NX, PS4, XB1, PC) is likely, because 2m is way too low compared to the increased dev. costs of such a game. As comparison, MH3G on 3DS sold almost 2m LTD.

2m for the first HD MH game seems like a bad investment to me, regardless of the platform.

And a HD port of MHX could make sense, but I don't think Capcom wants to do a Project Diva X with their franchise. Especially after all the efforts they've been putting into establishing the franchise in the west.

Monster Hunter XG on 3DS and NX at launch is the only one that makes sense.

Also Capcom risks losing any marketing assistance from Nintendo if they put the games on non-Nintendo hardware, and I have a good feeling that the series' success in the west had a lot to do with that (most recently with how MH4U was heavily pushed right alongside the New 3DS XL's launch in the west).

I can only see an NX version of XG coming to the west as a 3DS version would be too soon for the west after the west just now gets MHG on July 15th. It's not certain if the west can handle the games coming out that close to each other.

Plus it gives the NX an extra push in the west as being the only system that folks can play the new version of the game on, and 3DS folks still have MHG so it's not a huge issue I would think if 3DS-owners in the west lose out on MHGU in the west, I would assume.

Thanks to both. Even if they're just "actively looking into" NX, that sounds more than what I expected from them, I'm serious.
Actually, the good thing to do should be checking out their financial releases several months before Wii U, 3DS, Vita and PS4, to see if, when and where they used similar expressions.

Exactly. This is a company that put out ONE 3DS game and that was just some tiny spin-off game of sorts based on.... stickers...?

It's possible that Disgaea did well on PC and that's making them consider more platforms?

I only ever saw them considering future Nintendo handheld (NX handheld?) support if Sony does actually leave the market, but that's not been officially declared yet, and all signs point to NX being a home console, so that's even more shocking.

You only need to look at the software sales of that fatal week:

Media Create Sales: Week 20, 2015 (May 11 - May 17)

Only three games sold more than 10k that week, and any of them more than 20k.

This year, Kirby will probably sell more than 20k on this week, and Uncharted 4 second week should be on the same range. Yo-kai Sankokushi will be over 10k for sure too.
The top 3 will be better, there're very small chances that this week becomes worse than last year.
Still it will be the second or third worst week, though.

Oh, I see your point now! However, sales gonna be worse than we expect, imo. I don't think Kirby will be above 20k that week, but we should see what kind of prediction YSO throws regarding this. Furthermore, even though it's true what you said (and there are numbers to confirm), in my opinion, numbers below the tenth position could possibly be worse than last year (235k of software is completely possible to crack down).

The comparison of Week 20, 2015 is with Week 19, 2016, the week of Uncharted. Both are the weeks after Golden Week.

Yeah, as Hiska said I was referring to Week 20 according to Media Create, in other words, second week of Uncharted.

Are we talking about Frontier 2 or Online?
The latter is full F2P, but the former might be a variation of Frontier 1. Buy packages, then microtransactions.
I paged back through the rumors, and while they kept talking about f2p at the same time this came out, there actually wasn't a business model attached to the rumor, so you might be right.

It was rumored for a 2016 release though.

A packaged game with microtransactions supporting future development would fit with a lot of industry trends and Street Fighter V's business model though. They don't even have to name it Frontier 2 if they want to treat it as a separate platform from the subscription game.

I think they'd have to have a very short turnaround on a Western release if they wanted that to sell 2 million units though. A PS4 game in Japan is going to struggle to do even half that.

If that Kenka Bancho prediction rings true:

[3DS] Kenka Bancho 6: Soul & Blood - 24,274
lol
An otome VN spinoff shouldn't be selling the same as that.

I'd be surprised if it sold that well. Doesn't seem to be getting any hype or pre-orders anywhere that I've noticed.

Amazing. I hope every single struggling IP will have an otome spin-off from now on. Starting with Star Fox.
