Hey, I just went to a Softmap and they had an Xbox One stand playing a video of... Scalebond.
No wonder Xbox saw this dramatic increase in sales.

I had a post last week, but it's above Link's Awakening (540K), but still below TP (TP is at 600K with GC & Wii).

I'll go look, thanks! Either way it, it should clear TP soon.

EDIT: And MM is right there too. Seems like BOTW will clear them. I really want to see if it can beat Wind Waker.

Blaster Master Zero earned over 80k downloads according to Mochizuki

80,000 downloads as of May 10th, 2017. Switch version alone, 3DS one not included, Mochizuki himself specified.

80k on Switch only seems to be a pretty good number. Not lighting up the charts, but a decent revenue generator for a low budget game.

Kamiko is certainly well beyond those 80K downloads that Blaster Master reported and Snipperclips is continuing it's strong showing. Real news is that a lot of people didn't bother to buy MK8D physically and went with a digital version.

Is it baseball season in Japan? Jikkyou continuing to go from strength to strength. This version has been amazing in sales.

Monster Hunter Stories makes a reappearance. Out of curiosity, is this heavily discounted or does it still have some slight legs?

That's just Golden Week "boost" here. MHS has been selling rather steadily, though very small amounts.

Oh dear. I knew the sudden delay a few weeks before release was fishy, and looks like I was right when I assumed this was because they weren't happy with pre-orders (because we all know that's a valid strategy... ain't that right, Marvelous?).

Wait wut? I thought Blaster Master is more expensive than that lol.O_O Well, still don't think that 80k is such a bad number here except if Inti had huge expectation for the game there.
Yeah, i just wanted to mention the price as info. I still think that 80k isnt a bad number =)

Based on what? Blaster Master Zero has been out for over two months...

Blaster Master Zero has never been in the top 3 of any eShop Chart for the Switch, while Kamiko is top 3 in several regions including Japan, US and Europe.

But without numbers that doesn't mean anything. #9 at the point Blaster Master Zero was released could have sold more than #2 at the point Kamiko was released.

The way I tend to think for the DL titles on Switch is that the majority of sales will come when the game is out and is top of the "new release" and "ranking" chart.
That's usually the case with majority of digital market places.
Unless Switch owners suddenly decided to stop purchasing new games you'd expect the top 3 to be amassing at minimum 30K downloads per week WW after their launch and that's being conservative. We are talking about more than 3 million potential Switch owners at this point. Kamiko is a¥500/$5 game that received a lot of marketing by the virtue of being cheap, well made, positively reviewed and highlighted on the eShop. Snipperclips was 300K by the end of March and the game has also been bundled with JoyCons for Kamiko to be surpassing it in territories bodes really well for the game since Snipperclips won't exit the chart for as long as there is JoyCon bundles for it and it seems to be a real hit in Japan where I believe Snipperclips hasn't exited the top 5 since the release of the Switch charts.

Blaster Master also came out early in the switch lifetime, like week 1-2, and eshop sales would have been much higher during those initial week.

BMz will likely have done most of its sales in those opening days too.

Kamiko came out in periods where one can imagine the initial launch rush to buy games had calmed down, so to get to the higher rungs of the chart could potentially be a bit easier than when BMZ came out.

Though I wouldn't be surprised if Kamiko out sold Blaster Master simply due to the price.

Similarly, Snipperclips has performed pretty well considering its price.

The use of credit cards in general and specifically for digital software purchases is not as common in Japan as it is in other countries. I would say that when software is purchased digitally, it is because the person doing so wants a specific game, goes to the store to buy a prepaid card, and then buys it - not on a whim because of a good price.

So basically, weaker GW but Nintendo is up thanks to the Nintendo Switch.

I don't want to imagine in what state the market would be without it, and that's despite the Switch sales being limited by shortages.

Does Japan have the "Joycon + Snipperclips" bundle that the EU does? And if so, would that be regarded as a Snipperclips software sale or a hardware sale?

There's no such bundle in Japan, it' a EU-only thing.

And if there was, it would be counted as Software sales, Hardware only includes game consoles. There is a peripheral/accessory category, but that data is only for Media Create / Famitsu Biz subscribers.

Re: Blaster Master Zero

Switch eShop updated with Best-sellers charts on April 4th. This means that the first period ever tracked from the charts was March 21st, 2017 to April 4th, 2017. Blaster Master Zero was released on March 3rd in Japan and March 9th in US/Europe: this means that the first eShop charts missed respectively the game's first 18 and 12 days on the market.
