Media Create Sales: Week 19, 2012 (May 07 - May 13)

Aostia

El Capitan Todd
The article says just that 3DS did over 6 millions after 65 weeks.
The estimate for last week is 40k, already posted why.

I missed Famitsu previous LTD numbers for the 3DS, so I don't know how to calculate the weekly sales of the device starting from the "6,017,206 units." total given by them yesterday/today.

If 3DS will surpass the 6 millions milestone also for MC, starting from the 5.955.834 LTD of last week, we can say that 3DS did at least 44.100K.

Or am I wrong?

44k sounds like a reasonably safe (and even conservative) estimate for the 3DS.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Mpl90,
I probably won't be online at 11 a.m. EDT this Wednesday, so if you (or someone else who's available) wants to start the new thread, please do so. If you need my formatting, I can provide it once I get online. You usually seem to do a good job, though. :) Chris1964 can do the full format Thursday night/Friday morning, as usual.

Okay?

Sorry for answering just now. But okay, I'll do it. :D

This week where it sold "more than 5000" units, it was the no. 2 game, while "Conception: Please, Have My Babies!" was the no. 1 (which means it sold more than 5k downloads too in its launch week).

New update: https://twitter.com/#!/yoshimiki0519/status/204795122796347393

No. 1 digital game for 05/14~05/20 (PSP only I assume).

EDIT: I just looked at his tweets and he has posted sales for every week:

2012-04-23 2 [PSP] Ore ni Hatarakette Iwaretemo {DL} (E-smile) {2012-04-24} - 5,000 / 5,000
2012-04-30 1 [PSP] Ore ni Hatarakette Iwaretemo {DL} (E-smile) {2012-04-24} - 3,000 / 8,215
2012-05-07 1 [PSP] Ore ni Hatarakette Iwaretemo {DL} (E-smile) {2012-04-24} - 2,800 / 11,059
2012-05-14 1 [PSP] Ore ni Hatarakette Iwaretemo {DL} (E-smile) {2012-04-24} - 2,700 / 13,500

Hmm wait? So some weird minor game just like this sold over 10k digitial copies in Japan ?

I gather My little sister sold much better than most of us expected, whereas Mario party apparently underperformed compared to predictions, at least I was expecting it to be at number 1.

Until we get numbers, we won't be able to determine if KI is falling away from the rest or if it just happened to be beaten by ORC while the latter's on its way down. Still encouraging to see FE holding its own with the big boys for definite, though, and it's quite possible KI's doing much the same.

MP9's not a new release, it's been out a few weeks. In such a circumstance, I wouldn't really fret if it's beaten to the top slot by a new-this-week release or two.

Ah, now I see, by the way for what is worth I made my predictions assuming they were all new releases.

bad start for Persona 2 or an amazing start for the other game? either way very strange.

MP9 will be a top 10 fixture for months, Little Sister might be gone as soon as next week.

Yeah, I am aware it's the kind of those massively front-loaded games that have no legs at all and sell the most of their lifetime sales on first week, still impressive nonetheless it outselling Persona though, I expected the other way round.

Why is it so surprising? The first My Little Sister sold roughly 90k in its first week according to Famitsu, while Persona 2.1 only sold about 60k in that timeframe.

I expect that both games underperformed compared to their predecessors, though.

For months ? I doubt that - especially with Wii hw sales being so low.

I reckon Mario party - not differently from other popular party/multiplayer-focused games such as Mario kart or WiiSports - may make a come-back to top 50 near the end of the year, I mean I would not be much surprised if this should end up having surprisingly long legs.

What's with the weird freaking out over Oreimo doing well? The last game was a major hit so this was to be expected, and the show itself is actually pretty good despite the questionable icecream-ish premise.

I had to check out which games we made predictions for since I completely forgot, and I've just realised both Mario tennis and Dragon's dogma have bombed heavily, and I gather pretty much all of us were expecting them to be at number 1 and two, whilst they're completely out of number 10 apparently.

Next weeks numbers.

As far as I'm concerned I was expecting Mario tennis and Dragon's dogma being at the top spots of the charts, but since they were not out yet now it all makes more sense.

As for My little sister, although I have to admit I don't know the series at all, I predicted 70k/80k - and I totally forgot about it, lol -, outselling Persona 2, so I may have been spot-on all along about it after all.

Just a feeling I have, but if you look at other releases...

03./00. [PSV] Tales of Innocence R <RPG> (Bandai Namco Games) {2012.01.26} (¥5.980) - 54.853 / NEW

And I'm expecting Persona 4 to open with more than 100k.

You expect it to become a top three or higher selling Vita game the week it launches?
