I think Kirby selling so well with such little impact on hardware shows you that every 'gamer' in Japan has a 3DS (maybe casual gamer too, since Kirby sells to girls and kids as well). I think they really have sold one to everyone by now.

It's going to drop again next week and below 10k. This week isn't some magical down week that everything bounces back from next week. Wii U's Christmas didn't do a thing for it.

Monster Hunter 4 has officially crossed 3.6 million copies sold.

Triple Deluxe is the first Kirby game to ever sell out at launch, it's also the third best debut in the series, behind SSU DS (260,867) and Kirby N64 (245,508).

God Eater 2 Vita has sold 33,749 copies in the last 5 weeks (holiday season), averaging 6,749 per week.

Outsold by PS3 eh, the 7-8 year old console.

Kirby success juxtaposed with WiiU sales just sort of represents the internal dilemma Nintendo devs really face. Theres a platform they want to show up on and clink glasses over and then theres a platform they keep sweating over getting plonked on and excusing themselves to the bathroom 50 times a day to avoid. Champagne or the shits.

Sakurai and the Smash team certainly saw the trick to it at least, and the current murmurings of "shared development across platforms" Nintendo-wide going forward is just paving over the great big chasm nobody wants to address.

Yeah. Well. Japan was probably the only region where a turn-around for the Wii U wasn't completely unlikely. Now that's gone too. I've no idea what Nintendo will do now.

The quarterly results will be interesting, I guess.

Those Wii U sales aren't that surprising, considering the larger sales numbers these past few weeks were boosted by the holidays.

Considering the lack of basically all 3rd party software for Wii U, the software line-up this year is going to be full of brutal software droughts. I honestly am curious how low the sales are going to be for both hardware and software.

And Youkai Watch is very surprising. Does it have an anime or something that makes the game have such legs?

Shitty as the numbers are, it's still showing some signs of life (pun very much intended).

The WiiU...let's just hope this isn't part of a trend after what happened last year. Jesus...

Hopefully the PS4 injects some excitement into these figures.

Wii U goes back to its regular sales level, as expected.

VITA held a little better. Curious to see what will be its new baseline. Final Fantasy X will also easily pass(or has passed) 500k units on both platforms.

I guess it's more of a question why people thought a turnaround was happening for Wii U in the middle of the holidays.

Possible and probable, but this week always had huge drops which then bounce back a bit the next few weeks.

Some of them bounce back with software. Wii U has nothing so it won't.

YTD change compared to last year:

3DS : -37%
Vita : +142%
WiiU: -26%

I think it's safe to say that the 3DS has peaked already, Vita will end up doing ok in Japan and WiiU's last hopes are Mario Kart Wii U and SSB4.
