New IP debuts over 330k in the last 10 years in Japan:
Onimusha (517k)
Devil May Cry (353k)

Do-you-count-this-as-a-new-IP debuts over 330k in the last 10 years in Japan:
Samurai Warriors (627k)
Love and Berry DS (425k)
Kingdom Hearts (411k)

I see a few other Musou games that I can't tell if they count or not--Warriors Orochi, One Piece Musou, Fist of the North Star Musou.

So I would say that if you remove ambiguous cases, this is the third-best new IP since the beginning of the PS2.

Edit: Worth noting; this data is all Famitsu, the OP number is Media-Create

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
360 got a huuuge bump.

Incredible opening for Dragon's Dogma! I'm curious to know if it'll be a frontloaded title or if it will have "legs". And incredible hold for Fire Emblem too :D

Good opening for Mario Tennis, I wonder how high it will go.

Edit: Capcom is the king of new IP launches, it's pretty impressive.

Great opening for Dragon's Dogma - I hope we'll see a sequel with multiplayer features :)

And Fire Emblem just doesn't give a fuck :lol Impressive!

04./00. [360] Dragon's Dogma (Capcom) - 29,024 / NEW

Total - 331,064.

Amazing figures, Dragon's Dogma is the best-selling debut for a console new rpg IP since Kingdom Hearts in 2002. Capcom (at least in Japan) have another winner on their hands, congratulations!

02./00. [3DS] Mario Tennis Open (Nintendo) - 101,645 / NEW

Mario Tennis series:

[N64] Mario Tennis 64 (Nintendo) {2000.07.21} - 213,422 / 969,888
[NGB] Mario Tennis GB (Nintendo) {2000.10.30} - 108,870 / 357,983
[GCN] Mario Tennis (Nintendo) {2004.10.28} - 139,826 / 377,172

Fire Emblem still clinging on. The reveival (sales wise) of the freanchise is truly upon us. I can't wait for multiple FE entries to be announced for the 3DS in the near future.

Now, if it would come to EU land, that would be great.

Very, very good for DD. I'd expected sub-250k combined, so to come in at over 300k on a single platform is far better than I thought.

What was the marketing like in Japan?

EDIT:

And FE is going to break 400k next week by the looks of it. I wonder if 500k is achievable by the end of the year?

I'm gonna need a MKDS vs MK7 comparison.

And 3D Land is doing great, who would've known it would be the one with the most impressive legs?

cw_sasuke

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Wow a PSV game in the top 20.
Congrats Capcom for DD. Those FE legs

Pretty impressive numbers for Dragon's Dogma. Better than I expected at least.

Edit: Looks like better than most expected.

All my random witterings in the other thread and I never registered that Fire Emblem was *above* The Trinity.

Kid? Kid...? ...KID?!

KKKKKKKKKKKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Really nice for FE though.

Dragons Dogma is amazing though. Really amazing considering all the sales this week. Big sales week.

Dat 360 bump!

At least Dragon's Dogma sold well in one territory. Happy to see it do well, as the game looks cool but I just don't have any time for it yet. Once my Diablo 3 addiction cools off I'll pick it up.

Fire Emblem's ability to stay fairly high each week is really starting to impress me.

Why exactly is this one doing so well compared to past FE games?

Quoting myself from the end of the last thread because I think it's at least a little pertinent and could springboard some conversation:

DmC, Onimusha came out early in the hardware lifecycle though. It's also dangling a demo on a stick for sales, similar to what Crackdown / Tobal No.1 did. User response seems fairly favorable at this point, so it'll be interesting to see where lifetime sales end up -- the metric that ultimately matters. It does have a good start.

One thing that's still sticking in my head: "we got 500K preorders in Japan for the game woohoo!" was something Capcom-Unity announced. Numbers, adding up the 360 version even, comes nowhere near that. If this number is to be believed it also means max. 66% of preorders were picked up, likely less because not everyone that purchases a game preorders. Furthermore, what if shipment is less than 500K (as in, there's more than 67% salethrough mentioned when Media Create updates their site tomorrow)? If it's not a common practice to purposely short shipments they'd have been outright lying.

As i said in the last thread PS3 HW this week is rather surprising. DD has opened with very impressive numbers and is a new IP and yet it seemingly had no impact on HW whatsoever.

Hell it actually bumped the 360 as much as the PS3 (in whole numbers not percentages).

It's the preorder from seller. Not the customer.

Without the demo Dragon's Dogma would have sold exactly the same. No one buys a game for a demo that it can't be downloaded until 3 months later (PS3 version).

It did have some affect; end of the day hardware is expensive, this seems to be a game PS3 owners were after.

Its not like the game meant people thought - "I'll buy PS3 and not Wii/360" - as in terms of the mass market, PS3 is the only option.

360 has such a small userbase that theres a lot of people who might just take a new release to try out a new system.

Some good Software numbers but rather shitty hardware numbers.

Well that's because 3d Land is bundled.

Joke post?

What's the highest selling Fire Emblem. This version is doing incredible.
