Media Create Sales: Week 21, 2012 (May 21 - May 27)

I can't wait to see Vita's number drop to 0, 2 weeks before its price drop.

Nintendo, more like The Mario Company
This would be true if it wasn't for FE.

Hot damn at Dragon's Dogma, that's one hell of a debut for a new IP. That should sail past 500k in a few weeks, easily. Not sure it'll reach seven figures, but it might come close by the end of the year.

And yeah, Dem Legs on Fire Emblem. 500k by end of gen, hell, I expect 500k by the end of the year, if not earlier. 400k will happen next week, and clearly Nintendo's finally Figured Out DLC, as evidenced by the post on page 2. If Reggie doesn't announce Awakening at E3 next week I'm going to have an aneurysm.

Also Femmeworth you and I can share The Saddest Broknuckles. A few of the Awakening designs do drive me nuts.
Swap FE/DD and your predictions would look less crazy.

Should be week 20.

Well done Capcom, never thought a game with such anti-Japanese visual design could do so well. WRPGs have been doing well this gen in Japan, maybe DD is the ticket for the genre to become fully mainstream?

It'll be interesting to see if Dragon's Dogma has enough legs to cross the half-million mark.

Mario Tennis Open had a 51.19% sell-through (200,000 units shipped).

Any reason why we have the top 50 today instead of friday like usual ? Anyway glad to see 2012 ahead of 2011 in total software sale even if it's not really a challenge.

Kid Icarus is at 21, most likely it'll return next week when there aren't as many new games
And because there are going to be tons of new 3DS hardware/software sold to DQM:T buyers

Theatrhythm finally out of the Top 50 (hell of a run)

Can't wait to play the game

Uprising should make its triumphant return to the Top 20 next week
hopefully

Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry no Wonderland 3D (this week biggest release)

http://www.true-gaming.net/home/75229/

Guild01 hits the 3DS

http://www.true-gaming.net/home/75224/

more releases for the week

http://www.true-gaming.net/home/75214/

Games of the caliber of Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry no Wonderland 3D is what the market needs right now. Hopefully it will beat most of our expectations, while 1 million is a lock, a figure closer to 1.5 million at the end of its run would be really nice.

Poor Guild01 has been sent to die, will it do at least better than Girls RPG: Cinderella Life?

It's such a neat idea, I hope it somehow finds an audience (or four).

Seems like something that might've been helped by a digital release where you could pick which of the four you wanted or buy all four for a reduced cost. e.g. 1200 Yen each or 4000 Yen for the set.

If by 10 you mean 3, then sure. I realize it's a hyperbole, but sheesh.
It wasn't intended to be hyperbole. I had in the back of my head that PSP had sold 50 million units but didn't bother double-checking - I guess that's actually the worldwide number? My mistake, sorry.
Doesn't have greater software sales anymore, though.
Did it have greater software sales 12-24 months ago when all these games began development, though? I'd guess so.

I guess it's just a miracle we have any 3DS games, considering how awful the sales were in 2010.

Eh, I disagree. Publishers had to know that things would get better after the first year.

Edit: I've been had!

My point was: development on handheld games releasing now had to start 1-2 years ago, so it only makes sense to start those projects on the currently-hot handheld instead of the not-yet-released one.

I really hope Guild-01 is going to find its audience. I really like the concept and would be a shame to see it fail.

In 2010? No.

There's been a sub-discussion in this thread for years, though, where publishers were seemingly leaving DS for PSP despite much higher software sales on DS. At first, a theory was that they were trying to avoid DQIX's release originally scheduled for early 2009, but then it never really picked back up. The reason for the increased PSP support in the face of DS success is an enigma. We can come up with possible reasons, but none of them ever seemed compelling enough to overshadow the sales data, to me. *shrugs*

DQM Terry opening at over 500k? It's possible, I suppose. DQM Joker opened at 594k, but that week the DS Phat was at 6.6M and the DS Lite reached 7.4M. Will be interesting to see how DQM Terry stacks up.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
get6-2 has updated with its thoughts about DQM. I don't understand if it's forecasting more than 400k for first week or first day.

Maybe we'll have a new record opening for 3DS if there is the supply.

Still supply problems? Square Enix never learns! That happened also with Joker and Joker 2 Professional, besides Final Fantasy III, speaking of high sellers.
Btw, the highest opening should be MH3G with 470k; Monsters could reach the 500k mark, which would be pretty good.

Funnily, the first best 3DS debuts will be from third parties.

First week. He also expects shortages through at least the next two shipments, first of which is already on its way.
