And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Glad to see Zelda still hanging in there.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

I just love the success Gust is having with the Arland series. While some larger developers whined about HD towns or retreated to handhelds they did exactly the right thing: take an existing, free, capable engine and make a game with mid-tier assets and good image quality using it. They focused on their strengths (the alchemy system, 2d art, music and uncharacteristically -- for JPRGs -- nonlinear gameplay) and continued to improve on their foundation and the sales show that their effort paid off.

I just hope they make a new JRPG IP using the same engine.... It will be so good!!

Agreed. Always best to make lemonade when given lemons. :). I've become a major Gust fan over the last couple of years.

Now that Ar Tonelico's done, I think it's time they do try a new series.

So, Bleach is more popular on the handhelds?
I remember the 3DS version selling better. Or was that One Piece..?

That was One Piece which is an infinitely more popular property than Bleach.

I'm surprised DS still keep finding new owners in Japan, don't japanese all have a couple of DS units already?

Actually I don't like Gust products on PS3 since they seem to push in a "direction" which I don't appreciate but yeah, those results are great.
I wonder what Atelier could do on PSP if developed properly, not just porting of olderrim stuffs.

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
Eh, isn't there supposed to be a particular format for this type of thread, complete with links to previous threads, and for hardware showing the last week, ytd, ltd, etc..?

That is Chris1964's style. He said he wouldn't be able to make the thread (I update the OP once he does post his complete version), so I step in. I'm way too lazy to do the math required for percentage drops, and YTD, LTD, and hardware totals. I was trying to do that this week, but gave up when I couldn't find the Excel file with the hardware sales from last year.

So in terms of visual novel sales where does Steins;Gate rank this gen? I think it's behind Phoenix Wright, but are there other VN games that did better?

what are the big releases for 3DS/PSP in the next few months?

My take on jun-aug releases

>60k LTD

3DS

Tales of the Abyss
StarFox
Pokemon Scramble

PSP

Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu 2011
Taiko no Tatsujin Portable DX
Sengoku Basara: Chronicle Heroes
Queen's Gate: Spiral Chaos
J-League Pro Soccer Club o Tsukurou! 7 Euro Plus
MonHun Nikki: Poka Poka Ailu Mura G
Black * Rock Shooter: The Game
Mobile Suit Gundam: New Gihren's Ambition

None of these will be big games (>250k LTD) with the exception of maybe MonHun Nikki.

From the list of games announced, 3DS won't have a big game until Kid Icarus (maybe) or Mario Kart and FF Type-0 will be the last big psp release unless Capcom decides to make MHP3G.

EDIT

Well, there's still that AKB48 dating sim in October.

I don't usually defend nintendo since I haven't cared for their systems lately other than the DS, but I'm sure they are making a healthy profit on every single system sold on the market, especially the 3DS. Financially they will be fine but I'm not sure why they want to confuse consumers with their new "upgrade" strategy rather than a clear cut generational leap.

I'm sure 3DS will go back up when Nintendo release another game. . . the end of this year.

Isn't Star Fox released in a few weeks? not sure that it will help, but still

People buying DSi and DSiLL are taking away from 3DS sales.

So those that have been buying PS2s for the past 5 years have been taking away from PS3 sales too, right?

Fantastic start for Meruru. I'm surprised at the huge jump Meruru's first week sales in comparison to Totori

Atelier Rorona: Alchemist of Arland (Gust) - 43,243
Atelier Totori: Alchemist of Arland 2 (Gust) - 53.871
Atelier Meruru: The Alchemist of Arland 3 (Gust) - 82,585

It definitely looks like the best installment yet.
