Would put XCX slightly above (~15,000) comparable week for XBC, though obviously XBC did not have a digital release like XCX did. Pathetic victory! I sort of wonder when it's all said and done if XCX actually having a real release in the West will see it outsell the original, or if that actually matters since it'll probably struggle to pull 600k worldwide?

For fun, Xeno sales after about 4 weeks via Famitsu/Garaph (no data for Xenogears):

Xenosaga I: 390,620
Xenosaga II: 233,962
Xenosaga III: 161,472
Xenoblade: 115,900
Xenoblade X: 129,501

Maybe worth noting?: I can't find any comparable Xenosaga III data, but MC tracked Xenoblade to about ~191k, which would be higher than Xenosaga III's total (181k).

DMC4SE sold about the same as the DMC HD Collection did on the PS3 (43k first week, 86k total). Seems fine. DMC3SE on the PS2 only sold 21k in the first week, and 54k total. This seems to be getting a bit of a boost due to it also being a sort of remaster on PS4.

If its on pace with the HD collection, which it seems to be, it'll be alright. And then whatever it can scrape from digital it may actually be the best rerelease entry in Japan for the series. Dat Vergil thirst is real. Imagine if capcom did a next gen action game based on Vergil.

Minecraft in Japan

PS3: 312.477
PS4: 96.569 (Old number)
PSV: 493.988 ( 203.143 retail, 290.845 digital)

On both Xbox systems: 16.789 (pretty old number)

All combined its sold over 919.823 might've messed something there, Famitsu numbers obviously.

Also with digital Xenoblade X is just a little more than 5k above The Witcher III.

Wow, that's super impressive. Is it the best selling Vita title in Japan? That's nearly a 12.5% attach rate!

I remember those times, when Pokémon entered the chart with 150 points, like a boss.

Pretty strong numbers for Doubutsu no Mori, though. It will surely sell very well.

Didn't Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire enter with like 300?

Yup, Minecraft is number 1. Vita's top 5 according to Famitsu (including digital and "best" releases) is:

1. Minecraft - 493,988
2. God Eater 2 - 425,911
3. God Eater 2: RB - 336,158
4. Freedom Wars - 333,907
5. Persona 4 Golden - 296,145

Xenoblade had most of its sales outside of Japan, despite a limited release in US.

Because of one chain of stores having a deal? Is Bic Camera enough to do that?

I posted three chains: Bic Camera, Yodobashi Camera and Yamada Denki. Probably the three biggest chains in Tokyo.
(Also Sofmap is Bic Camera Group).

I'll check Tsutaya and GamesMaya later this evening.

FTFY :). At least digitally, there have been some sales on software.

Also, I just listened to the main theme of Fire Emblem Fates, and it's quite impressive... yet another thing showing the investment they put into the game.

http://gonintendo.com/stories/236979-fire-emblem-fates-soundtrack-samples

It'll be interesting to see how Fire Emblem goes from here on out, its not every day you see a 20 year old franchise grow like this, lol.

Meanwhile, I was bored while reading some papers and trying to answer some reviewer queries on our publi:

if those digital sales are reliable, XCX didnt do bad at all in Japan, imho. the original on the way more popular wii did 190k while this is at 130k and could end up around 150k at the end of its life cicle, judging how many units it sold digitally and how much the original sold outside the charts. one of the smaller gap between wii and wii u episode, as expected by "core" games (reason why I expected a different approach at e3 by them)..

Well Xenoblade Chronicles sold fantastically in used sales (doubled its sales), but folks here aren't expecting that for Xenoblade Chronicles X. Then again, if it's because it's not as good of a game, I don't blame them.

Maybe TW3 actually will overtake Xeno X, but looking at how those two are received that's not too surprising (not saying Xeno was received badly but TW3 is received pretty well over here).

I think TW3 already overtook Xeno X. Even if we take into account the known digital numbers.

X: 105 (retail) + 22.8 (digital) = 127.8
W3: 117.9 (retail) + 11 (digital) = 128.9

I think Xeno sold a lot of used copies also because a lot of people actually had the wii. it is very hard to imagine a healthy used market for the wiiu. indipendently from the quality of the game (and impressions Ive read are different from xeno but generally positive, with very vocal negative ones)

Also those digital sales are for one week only, whereas the Xenoblade ones are for four weeks. So odds are it has outsold Xenoblade or soon will. XB1 version was also I think at around 1.6K when it dropped out.

In either case, it should pass it next week. W3 is showing GTA 5-esque legs, and as can be seen, GTA 5 PS4 has continued selling, and reappeared in the charts this week having hit 175K physical. I think 150K is probably a lock for W3. Spike Chunsoft must be pleased, their bet paid off.

Xenoblade is a strange game in the West. Given its odd release schedule, and the prominance of Dolphin, I would not be surprised if only about 15-20% of those who played the English version had actually paid for it new. Given the absence of Dolphin for the WiiU, and the fact that XBX should be available, that likely leaves a large potential market. As to how much of that market is on the WiiU, that remains to be seen.

The last sentence is true for the first Xenoblade too. Most reviewer and player liked the game, but every bad review good 100 times more attention than the majority good ones :)

How much did it sell outside of Japan?

We never got any NPD numbers because it was retailer exclusive, but in either the XCX or XBC3DS Iwata Asks (I forget which), Iwata mentioned the game did better oversees than in Japan.

That could mean anything, of course, but given that the game is tracking above XBC in Japan, I don't think it'll have a problem doing better than XBC in the West, where it'll have an actual, real release in one of the largest markets.

Note: That doesn't mean that I think those numbers will be good. Just that I wouldn't be surprised now if it ended up outperforming the first Xenoblade. That would be a win for Monolith and their first sequel to outsell their previous entry.

Yeah, I think we sort of need to see how it plays out LTD. I doubt we'll get digital sales going forward once the game drops off the chart next month, so we'll never know?

What exactly is the special edition of Fire Emblem If? Both versions of the game as physical copies + a dl code for the third campain? Or all three campains physically? Since the price on the boxes and the suggested price are not equal, I need to ask: Is the recommended price for the special edition also lower than the sum of each individually? Since I'll buy both versions anyway (and I would never pay money for a download, if no supreme frustration as with Sea of Thieves pushes me towards it), I'd likely like to get the special edition in Europe, too.

It got 92% on metacritic with 58 positive reviews. What exactly do you mean? All I heard was positive praise from the game. Or are you talking about GAF reactions? I heard though that XCX has a very minimal plot? If so, that'd really suck for me, as XB's plot was one of my favorite parts of the game T_T.

Also in the end, do folks think Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer or YW2 Busters will sell more?

I wonder if this is just chains matching each other's offers or if it's come from Nintendo to try clear stock of the Mario kart bundle perhaps in preparation for a new bundle

well, we don't know exact numbers for XB in the West, hopefully we'll know abuot XenoX a little bit more. Abuot Japan, I'd even stay on the 129k vs 115k for the first month (Famitsu numbers) with a generic assumption of 140k vs 190k (based on the MC LTD) to judge it and I'd say that, considering Wii U VS Wii situation (and also in general the home market in Japan) it's a decent result.

Another topic: do we know what amiibos do in Fire Emblem If?

I note them smartly cross-promoting the FE Amiibo with Fates.

I ask again: what amiibo do in FE IF?
I've seen the amiibo logo on the cover, but I've completely missed the info about the possible in-game use.
And if there is, I'm also surprised about the lack of an amiibo bundle, considering how good Splatoon amiibos sold and how popular FE seems to be.

Each of the 4 FE Amiibos unlocks the respective guest character in your castle as a bonus unit. Think of it as cameos like Cloud in FFT PSP.

Scanning Marth, Ike, Lucina, or Robin brings them into My Castle.
There you can battle and have have limited interactions with them.
All of them are voiced, have unique sprites/models, and new art.
