That's quite the drop for the Switch. Hurry up, Splatoon 2. Looks like there truly won't be any improvement until July 21st. Guess they really are stockpiling everything they can for now.

Also if I remember correctly I think Alliance Alive was predicted to do better. It had a lot of positive word of mouth helping it too.

Yep, not a great hold for Switch stock. Arms did slightly better though.

And 3DS YTD will get behind 2016 YTD next week. When is 2DSXL releasing?

I don't know about the long term, but Nintendo's got to be losing some significant short term business with the Switch's stock situation.

I daresay they're doing all they can, but this is embarrassing.

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.
I think the next 3 weeks are going to be really bad for Switch hardware. Production clearly hasn't increased and Nintendo will hold back for Splatoon 2.

Holy God Wars bomba, batman. Actually, it's pretty much in line with Natural Doctrine I think, haha. Why do Kadokawa bother? At least they can save the abysmal numbers with western shipment.

Also Locoroco. Also wondering why they bothered on that one. Goes to show that franchises like that weren't niche because they were on Sony's handhelds; they're niche because they're niche.

Also lower than I expected for Alliance Alive based on the early numbers we were getting, suggesting it would open higher than Caligula (it's actually ~5k below). Decent-ish result, although:

Splatoon 2 is not gonna help either.

Oh well at least ARMS has a good second week. Hopefully it continues.

Wow that's a huge Switch hardware dropoff. I thought we had reports of big shipments to various stores in Japan? Or was that after the 25th?

Anyway this may explain why their stock (financial stock) went down 4%. Someone is bound to ask them about this stock situation at the general meeting of shareholders.

LocoRocos only console entry being - publisher description not mine - an interactive screensaver can't have exactly helped widening its appeal.

Definitely losing long term business.

Larger userbase earlier means more software sales and more support.

Time value of money is huge.

Any money spent on second hand market is less money spent of accessories and software.

Also potential consumers Move on, invest in something else, etc.

This is the first week where Switch stock situation really worries me. Can only pray that Nintendo can get their situation in order ahead of Splatoon 2.

I was just poking a bit of fun at the whole "everything will sell better on consoles!" rhetoric when you see games bomb on handhelds.

Locoroco - and Patapon really - have always been weird, niche concepts. It's nice to see Sony give them a bit of love after all this time, but I don't see them having much of a future.

At this point, it's clear Nintendo is stocking up a HUGE amount of units week per week to be ready for Splatoon 2 since mid-May. Remember: they said that the situation will improve in July, starting with Splatoon 2, with further production increases in the Fall. Otherwise, they wouldn't even have bundles for both S2 and MHXX. I'm personally expecting a 100,000+ week for Splatoon 2's week, then hopefully around 40,000 as the minimum baseline.

Switch stock problems are a real thing. Damn. Nintendo has something special going with the switch right now. I hope they can get it together before people lose interest. I think the great line up this year will help.

Judging by most people's predictions on Switch hardware for the month, most are expecting multiple 100k weeks in July... or a 200k week.

The -19% for Zelda and Mario Kart just shows how much short term software sales are getting affected by the hardware situation.

100,000 worldwide already seems solid considering its probably pretty low budget.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
These shortages are such a buzz kill for Switch right now.

With that drop it doesn't seem like ARMS is going to be top tier franchise for Nintendo. Oh well, can't say they didn't try.

I'll be bold here...if the supply helps, I can see this happening. I don't see so implausbile Splatoon 2 acting similarly to New Super Mario Bros. on DS back in 2006, sales-wise, and that would translate into weeks after weeks where hardware sales stay at the 100,000 level. But, again, the supply needs to be there.
