Sorry, that's the only thing i can do now. Around 10 people were lining 30 minutes before the shop's opening in front Bic Camera in Ikebukuro.
The shop opens today at 9:00 (usually at 10:00)

Wow, bomba!!! That's it, it's just the second game and Level-5 has already milked this franchise to death. Unbelievable!!!!!111!

*ahem*

Sorry about that, I had to do it, ha ha.

Yodobashi Shinjuku has not enough games in stock, they only give to people who made reservation before end of May

Sofmap is selling just one copy for each person

It's Youkai madness in Japan!!!!!!!!!

After I come back home i'll post pictures

Holy dear, that sounds really serious. Looks like I was right about shortages at launch. But this time, I think Nintendo will be able to manufacture enough cartridges in time. I think Level-5 learned their lesson with the first game.

That's simply unbelievable...

I missed Road's post but... 500k just for a strategy guide? Wow...Guess that confirms that, at the very least, the game sold 500k? And that's expecting every YW buyer to also get the guide.

Yup, guess that if YW2 doesn't reach 1M during the first week, it'll only be because of shortages.

That's the guide for the first game, no?

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Whats up with the 1-Star ratings on Amazon for YW2 ? Any J-Gaffer able to elaborate on ?

this seems a trend for popular games. trolls at their best, as for DQ9 and others?

True - but sometimes it is justified like when Bamco tried rob their customers with the JoJo Fighting game on PS3.

Two of them are trolls that gives a 1 star rating for every game on release date.

One is just complaining about a patch and not the game.

Uh...thats pathetic, but thanks for the heads up. I thought amazon was doing something about troll rating on the release date.

true. but so early? usually not.

don't know what they could do. you should "pretend" them to prove to have the game somehow?

I asked confirmation to my wife when we were coming back home, and the situation was:

Yodobashi Shinjuku

You can get a copy of the game ONLY if you preordered it.
For Genso version is before June 4th, for Honke is before May 17. If you want to buy today the game you will be put into a waiting list

yw2_g.png

Sofmap (both Shinjuku and Ikebukuro)

The game is available, but only one copy for person (so I presume you cannot buy both versions)

I also visited Bic Camera (Biqlo) but there were any problems about stock, but I think this is not one of the main shops people we'll go to buy YW2

Some other pictures for people not living in Japan, so you can try to imagine how big has become YW in Japan in the last 9 months :

yw2_b.jpg

Beside the new title, there was a massive promotion for the DVD which will be released in the next autumn (Bic Camera Shinjuku)

Gadgets are everywhere... (Yodobashi Shinjuku)

And don't forget to buy your beloved medals and cards !!! (Sofmap Ikebukuro)

How the Yokai Watch 2 run-to-the-million run ended on Comgnet

[NDS] Inazuma Eleven 3 - 214pt + 181pt = 395pt
[3DS] Animal Crossing: New Leaf - 655pt
[3DS] Monster Hunter 4 - 3,872pt
[3DS] Pokémon X / Y - 1,085pt + 1,051pt = 2,136pt
[3DS] Yokai Watch 2 - 805pt + 625pt = 1,430pt

All the excitement around Yokai Watch 2 and the 1st one sales are a really great thing. Not only is the 3DS getting a great game but it will hopefully put some pressure on Game Freak for future Pokemon games. Inazuma Eleven is quite big in my country (Spain) so I hope that an eventual international release finds a simmilar success.

Also suprised that at the number of male adults interested in the game, judging from the photos. I expected to see more mothers buying them for their kids and the like.

That's because Spain gets special treatment when it comes to the anime. It's so popular, you're the only country that has 2 of the movies cut into TV format. I'm not even sure France or Italy has that.

No Italian TV Movies, but also in Italy the franchise is VERY strong. TV series continues to perform well, and the latest chapter for 3ds (Go) is still in top ten all platform (after Tomodatchi and in-between Kirby...yes, Italy is 3DSland this summer)

I think historically when big games come out, hardware goes up for most systems just due to the influx of customers into stores. Let me check if that is right...

"Hunting action" is the most convenient name because it avoids stepping on toes, but Japanese companies love making bullshit genre names, so using the given genre name isn't always a great idea. Unless you want to start using terms like "survival panic" or "RPG of Passion Lighting the World".

I think Hunting action is the most convenient name too. When I refer to the genre I use that term.

That RPG of Pasion Lighting the World sounds like a Tales of name lol.

Something I noticed just now.

Super Smash Bros. 3DS releases on a Saturday, not a Thursday. Which...can make sense, since it could be a pretty big release (tomorrow I'll post a general Comgnet update, so we can value it better).
...But Bayonetta 2 will be released on a Saturday as well, which is strange. It's not that big, potentially. But it seems this doesn't stop Nintendo from doing later releases: Pikmin 3 (and NSLU) were released on Saturday.

...

...And, yeah, W101 was a Saturday release too ;___;

At least, so far, it doesn't seem Bayo2 will suffer the same awful destiny. At least.

Why would people buy a strategy guide in the age of Internet? Japan doesn't have a GameFAQ equivalent?

Would you buy your 6 year old rather a quality strategy guide with many pictures and graphs or let him browse through Gamefaqs and txt documents for information on a game?

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Wondering if WE2014: Samurai Blue Challenge 3DS will reach the 100,000, in the long run. It'd be the first PES on the platform to do that since the launch title, and this isn't even the new main game, but the special World Cup release.

Reallllllly weird how Dengeki consistently tracks Vita below the other trackers.

Looking forward to Yokai Watch 2 numbers next week.

Resident Evil, if you ignore the Saturn and Director's Cut editions:

[PS1] Resident Evil (Capcom) {1996-03-22} - 148,904 / 1,194,779
[SAT] Resident Evil (Capcom) {1997-07-25} - 68,130 / 148,369
[PS1] Resident Evil: Director's Cut (Capcom) {1997-09-25} - 144,349 / 514,122
[PS1] Resident Evil 2 (Capcom) {1998-01-29} - 1,389,733 / 2,154,975

Yu-Gi-Oh IV after III, although its first week didn't best the original LTD:

[NGB] Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters (Konami) {1998-12-17} - 683,948 / 1,522,971
[NGB] Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters II (Konami) {1999-07-08} - 401,533 / 984,862
[NGB] Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters III (Konami) {2000-07-13} - 327,686 / 726,519
[NGB] Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters IV (Konami) {2000-12-07} - 1,228,599 / 2,210,163

Monster Hunter Portable if you ignore the Best release:

[PSP] Monster Hunter Freedom (Capcom) {2005-12-01} - 118,317 / 668,964
[PSP] Monster Hunter Freedom [PSP the Best] (Capcom) {2006-08-03} - 12,314 / 290,904
[PSP] Monster Hunter Freedom 2 (Capcom) {2007-02-22} - 746,313 / 1,723,187

There are others that fit the criteria, but with smaller sales (100k, 50k) which I suppose makes it easier to happen. Nothing on the 1 million level (from what I can see since 1996, according to Famitsu)
Cool, thanks for the info :) I wonder why the 4th Yu-Gi-Oh game sold that much more than the 3rd game.

http://www.famitsu.com/news/201407/10056955.html

- Lots of Mothers lining up in the morning to buy the game for their kids
- Lots of Fathers leaving work early to walk home from school with their kids to pick up the game
When they asked the people in line, a common answer was: I'm buying the game for mys... kid. Yeah, thats it, for my kid". Just kidding hehe.

Wish this happened to every "AAA" game here. Day one patches are inexcusable.
I think that depends on what the patch does. Pretty much every game have some flaws, or something that can be improved on, in one way or another when its shipped. I dont see any problems with patches on day one in this day and age when internet is so common (unless the patch is like 5GB+ in size or something).

There´s no chance for Youkai Watch to be released in the west?

Do you people think there´s no market for this game here?

(i dont remember whats the game is about, there´s something about the spirtis world and is a little bit like Pokemon, right?)

Nintendo Direct special 3rd party (japan only so far) tomorrow.
There might be some good stuff announced/talked about apart from the usual MonHun.

Cool, thanks for the info :) I wonder why the 4th Yu-Gi-Oh game sold that much more than the 3rd game.

Apparently the game was originally released as three versions; Joey/Kaiba/Yugi, with each version coming with a different God card if you got the first edition versions. Also it was set in Battle City which is arguably the most popular point in the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise.

As I kid, my father was nice enough to pay $300 for all the God cards, but this would definitely have been a cheaper way to obtain all three, plus getting games as a bonus. So I can see why this particular game sold so well.

How the Yokai Watch 2 run-to-the-million run ended on Comgnet

[NDS] Inazuma Eleven 3 - 214pt + 181pt = 395pt
[3DS] Animal Crossing: New Leaf - 655pt
[3DS] Monster Hunter 4 - 3,872pt
[3DS] Pokémon X / Y - 1,085pt + 1,051pt = 2,136pt
[3DS] Yokai Watch 2 - 805pt + 625pt = 1,430pt

Not too shabby! But I'm afraid shortages will be quite severe at launch... actually, the posts just before this one just confirmed it.

Would you buy your 6 year old rather a quality strategy guide with many pictures and graphs or let him browse through Gamefaqs and txt documents for information on a game?

That makes sense. Still, 500k guides is A LOT. It means than 1 out of 2 buyers have bought the guide.

So I can see why this particular game sold so well.
....... your dad actually gifted you $300 worth of God Cards? Wow.

Jesus, no wonder that game sold so many. A free (non-usable) ultra rare super card + Battle City.

FFXIV, Orochi 3 and now AK2. Post launch Japanese 3rd party retail sales on PS4 are starting to look a lot like they did on Wii U.

Ah ok, i see. Those things probably effected the sales in a positive way, indeed.

Huh? What was wrong with FFXIV sales and aren't the latter two ports of ports?
