Surprised it got bumped so high. I wonder if YW will have the Pokemon model and have a 3rd version released next year.

I'm curious to how the games are though in relation to Pokemon. Do YW1 and YW2 have the same protagonist? I think it does. Does it take place in the same location as the first one? Are there new mechanics? I would assume there are new monsters.

Did the PSP version of God Eater 2 not get a best re-release?

Is there any doubt?

Well it's very possible we'll just have the Yokai Watch 3 instead.

It certainly did in 2008 when they released the DSi :)
Indeed, but that was at the tail end of 2008 (DSi released in November iirc) - and also around the time when hardware sales gradually grew regardless of new hardware revision. My point is that for most of 2008, DS was long past regularly registering those kind of figures. DS sales in general were unprecedented but it did have a similar kind of 'come down' (proportionally) that the 3DS is currently experiencing.

rofl.... "Sony"? You mean worldwide Sony?
I hope your heard about these record-breaking PS4 sales worldwide, .....right?

I would assume that heckmanimation is just commenting on how PSV dwarfs PS4 in these charts and not actually making a serious suggestion. Hence the "good thing im not sony" line.

19./14. [3DS] Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth # <RPG> (Atlus) {2014.06.05} (¥7.538) - 3.148 / 242.300 <80-100%> (-26%)
24./00. [PSV] Persona 4: Golden <RPG> (Atlus) {2012.06.14} (¥7.329) - 2.141 / 284.213 <80-100%>

PQ got really close to P4G in just over a month!

Of course the difference will increase from now on thanks to the the new anime. Both were very successful. I wonder what's next for Persona on Nintendo platforms.

A damn impressive launch for Yokai Watch 2. Really gotta wonder if they are gonna try to localize the series, I'm sure Nintendo would gladly publish in the west.

Sad to see these numbers being called beast mode when 3ds used to sell this much on a weekly basis easily

It's few months already since we last saw combined handheld sales >100k

Also Soul Sacrifice 2 was heavily hinted so we will probably see at least that on this year TGS.

more importantly, the two trackers seem to be finally converging on this

There are now seven >200k Vita titles. Only one of them has sold >300k, but five of them came out within the past year. It still looks pretty bad for the future of the system overall, but it's a commendable second year in general considering the failure at launch. It doesn't look like it'll ever really make a "come back" like the PSP did in Japan, but I expect that in the next 1-2 years there will definitely be more and more ~200k titles since they definitely have a market locked up there with gamers who have a specific sort of taste at least. Unless someone comes up with something really special though, I doubt we'll be seeing a 500k title on the system ever, which would be the next big milestone to aim for.

Its been 5 weeks in MK8's case right? WiiU at 8.5k according to the inferior tracker.

No, 7 weeks. Wii U MC sales since MK8:

19312
13766
12249
10715
10653
9961
8658

Here's the first 10 weeks after Pikmin 3:

22199
14280
11373
10038
9950
12047
7030
6741
5702
5003

Besides the Obon-bumb in Pikmin 3 week 6, I think it's safe to say MK8's boost is more long lasting.

Phantasy Star Nova should come close, at the very least it'll be the biggest Vita title for a while.

PSN will sell 500k? I guess I'm not super familiar with the sales of the series, but based on my limited knowledge that seems unlikely.

PSPortable 1 sold over 600K and PSP2 sold 590K.

That's what I'm expecting, but most of the big Japanese games now have an expanded re-release. But this is Level-5 and they prefer yearly sequels.
Yes, they have the same protagonist (well, protagonists, since you can be male or female). The areas from the 1st game are in the 2nd, but there's a ton of new areas in the sequel too. There are some new mechanics related to battle and the overworld, as well. There's also ~150 new youkai.
Thanks.

[3DS] Youkai Watch 2: Ganso / Honke (Level 5) {2014.07.10} - 1.281.096 / NEW
[3DS] Youkai Watch (Level 5) {2013.07.11} - 16.883 / 1.177.459 (-33%)

Resident Evil 2 is the closest example that comes to my mind of a big selling franchise whose second entry had a better debut than the life-to-date sales of the first title. To be fair, there also was Resident Evil: Director's Cut, if we combined both versions, Resident Evil 2 debut would fall a bit short of its predecessor total sales.

Week 05, 1998 (Jan 26 - Feb 01)

[PS1] Resident Evil 2 (Capcom) {1998.01.29} - 1.389.733 / NEW

[PS1] Resident Evil (Capcom) {1996.03.22} - 1.194.773
[PS1] Resident Evil: Director's Cut (Capcom) {1997.09.25} - 12.520 / 448.889

Total - 1.643.662

Both Phantasy star Portables did 600k on PSP. PSN and GE3 are Vita's biggest chance for a 500k seller. It's way too early to realistically consider the possibility for both of them, though.

phantasy star nova?

If we're going by the popularity of Phantasy Star Portable...

671k -> 589k -> 393k

We'll see if being rebooted into a new Phantasy Star sub brand with more Monster Hunter elements on a platform with a much smaller installed base can actually turn that decline around.

I expect it'll have no problems sell the ~250k which big Vita titles seem to be able to sell these days, but 500k seems tough. Maybe if word of mouth from the upcoming battle demo is really, really good.

Take2 is doing it themselves.

No it hasn't. It technically hasn't been announced at all.

a new project from team gravity with a video of kat and words saying fall again does seem to suggest strongly it is a new gravity sequel but yes with regards to platform it is unknown. i feel like it is going to be ps4 and vita rather than just vita.

God Eater 2 is at ~400k retail. Also got in the TOP 10 best PSN sellers (all systems) with less than 2 months worth of sales last year.
Depending on the legs of the re-release, it could sell 500k overall.

I would say 500k shipped is locked.

Regarding PES, I really expect the new one to also come out on Vita. It's time to drop the PSP version, Vita's doing ok in Japan where the series primarily sells now, and there's basically no competition on the device because EA is just releasing "Legacy Editions" now.
PES does what, 500k in Japan? I couldn't find specific sales for each version but between March 2012 and March 2014 PES sold over 10 million worldwide so Japan isn't really the main market. The places where PES sells well will be Southern Europe and South America- but the vita is pretty dead there. I agree Konami should release a Vita version, but it'd be so that they can challenge Fifa in the rest of Europe.

The Phantasy Star Portable games were >500k selling games. No guarantee Nova gets there since this isn't the PSP but it's still possible.

The series did really well on PSP but with continual declines each installment. PSO2 also did really on Vita (600k+ retail+digital) but it was f2p.

I agree 500k might be out of Nova's reach but I still think it might beat out GE2.

Looks to be 387k tracked on Media Create to me. We shouldn't give a crap about what PSN charts without numbers or shipments.

I wouldn't mind more Persona Q like games. The characters and crazy story from Persona, along with some battle mechanics, combined with the dungeon crawling from Etrian Odyssey.

That number is from March and Famitsu has the game at 393k. That's why I said around 400k. Too bad Famitsu skipped November with their digital download charts.

We know Namco shipped 700k as of March 2014 between PSP and Vita.

Although I agree with you if you mean that it is unlikely that we'll see Vita having a 500k seller in these threads (meaning original release and retail sales).

What I found interesting was able to find the special LL 3DSes around for Youkai Watch, but the games were sold out. And its not that its an ugly design too. If I didnt already have 2 LLs would have gotten one for myself.
