It would be pretty amazing if the software sales were bad but the hardware sales were awesome, or vice versa.

41. [PSP] Time Travelers (Level 5) {2012-07-19} - NEW

One is not like the others.

As for lower sales for the baseball game, they say it had less promotion and that the reintroduction last year of the ketteiban ("definitive edition", which hadn't happened since 2007) might have some people wait for this year's ketteiban.

So what they're saying is LBX is fucked.

Holy crap at the PSP version... I wonder if Level 5 even gained anything by going multiplatform with this.

Half way through the year and only 1 game is a million seller. Slow year so far I guess.
That's not that bad. 2009 and 2011 didn't have any million-sellers at their half way marks. In fact, half way through last year ... only 1 game was a >500k seller.

That should put all three versions near 4000 in sales, each. That's a little better than I expected.

Hopefully the pathetic PSP sales of Time Travellers will show multi-plat developers it's time to move on from the PSP. Just focus on 3DS and Vita already!
Time Travelers should never be used as an example for anything... ever.

Let's hope so!

I guess you're right, portable Zeldas can keep their press button to swing nonsense.
Bet they will include a WM+ with every box.

I wonder if Nintendo have thought about a 3D (console style) Zelda game for 3DS, with an OoT 3D control scheme? With one exception....using the stylus for sword swings ;) that sounds like fun, really I want that pretty badly, the more I think about it.

I do think LoZ:SS sold a lesser amount due to release at the tail end of Wii, needing Wii motion + and audience has moved onto 3DS/PS3, leaving Mario Party games for social fun on Wii, deeper experiences for the other systems.

You had me until the sword swings/touch screen.

I do believe Nintendo has said they'd be looking to console games for inspiration for new handheld zeldas, though.

Time Travelers is teaching the Japanese games industry to not make big budget visual novels unless you have a well maintained brand behind it. Something evidently everyone but Hino knew.

It would be fun to parry, spin attack and such. Almost Infinity Blade like. I'd only want this scheme for control if it were extremely polished, though. I do think it could be immersive, like swinging a sword.

Doesn't that sound a lot like Ninja Gaiden DS?

I'm glad that RF4 did so well.

Shame about EO4 though, I was hoping for it be a little stronger than it is. Can't win 'em all I guess.

Is the game actually that bad?

From a "How do I make a game and sell a reasonable amount of it" perspective it might be that bad.

Also, I examined a 3DS XL today and am very impressed by it. I would buy one right now if I wasn't so short on money. Really curious to see how it will do in Japan.

At first I was like :|

But then I was like :O

When I realized it would control pretty similarly to Kid Icarus I was sold on the idea.

You are forgetting Professor Layton, Friend's Collection, God Eater, Wii _ and many others.
Brain Training, Big Brain Academy, Nintendogs, Inazuma Eleven, Cooking Navi, Girls Mode, Ni No Kuni, Band Bros, Just Dance...

Dragon's Dogma doesn't even crack the top 10. It barely makes top 20 if you separate the Wii ____ lines into their actual series.

#30 on Famitsu is below 4000. I doubt they are anywhere near that.
Yet, on Famitsu MH3G is over 4500. Different trackers, but the range should be relatively close. They're in the part of the chart where everything so close together that ranking doesn't actually matter because none of the trackers margin of error are that good.

Is the game actually that bad?
It had nothing to do with its quality. It just a game that has flopped across the board that I've now seen herald as an good example to base platform decisions on 5 or 6 times now.

Mpl90

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
We should get pictures of (possible) lines in a few hours, right?

Well, Dragon's Dogma is only out for two months. Let's wait and see if it will have some legs before we jump to conclusions...
It's not going to pass 500k on PS3, it's likely close to done for this version. Maybe reprints or ports can help, but it probably won't change much ranking wise.

It does a bit better if you place some restrictions on the criteria though (3rd party games, console games, etc). For just HD consoles it makes first place.

Uh we can tell by its chart position (not even in the top 50) it isn't going to miraculously sell a lot more.Did much better than I expected, but I think how badly it did overseas might counteract the future of the franchise.

Let's put it the other way then.

TT opened around 9800 on 3DS and PSV last week for Famitsu. It is definitely not close to 4000 in Famitsu this week since #30 on Famitsu is at 3893.

TT opened at 9332 and 9054 on PSV and 3DS last week for MC. If it's near 4000, that means it declined less than 60% from first week. I would say that's unlikely.

I would say it's closer to 3000 than 4000. What other evidence would support your claim that all 3 versions of TT are near 4000 this week in Japan?

3.000, 4.000 small difference, the game bombed.

But for sure retailers weren't expecting mega sales judging from the shipments they ordered.

I just want to ask about the MH Vita thing since the thread's locked:

Do we know what game it actually is, since the fact it shows Rathalos, either someone did a perfect copy of it, or they copied and pasted the model into whatever this is.

I love how it looks, whatever it is. It's a well-done fake/clone. I'd love to see a MH that looks like that.
