If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
99% a 3DS game - dont think they would use the chibi style on a PS4(Switch).
And the gameplay/system is based on EO, so yeah likely 3DS.

Just dont think that Atlus has the resources between SMT HD, their new PS4 fantasy JRPG and the next console Persona titles.

impressive numbers for splatoon 2. I never understood the love of that game. I mean. its the same way why I didn't like Mario sunshine. panting floor isn't really for me. and I am a huge Nintendo fan.

with that being said. I am currently enjoying Arms and I am going to buy this game later after that. there are so many games I want to buy and I will not even play 1% of them.

I mean seriously this year has been amazing for good games. I am still playing horizon lol.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
If Persona Q2 is announced for the 3DS, I am selling my Switch. So I hope, it's not. Atlus needs to move the fuck on from 3DS hardware.

That's...quite an over-reaction, what the XD

Did you already forget about Shin Megami Tensei :p

They are but this game has probably been in development for quite a while and doesnt have the budget or resources of what would be needed for a HD game.

The more, the better.

I never bought 3DS because of the region lock so I obviously don't want to see another game for it. Let it die.

Just render it at HD resolution and leave it as it is? Do people really need Persona 5 graphics for a spin-off?

They literally don't need to dramatically increase the budget to port the game to other systems. It's just another example of painfully slow transition to new hardware.

It uses dual screens.

First week shipment for Splatoon 2 was of 1.000.000 units, the one for Layton Mystery Journey was of 100.000 units.

Splatoon 2 ships in 3 days what the original did in 6 months.

Switch sees its biggest week for software yet and the first week since the launch of MHXX where over a million games were sold.

Switch software LTD at 2.5m, for comparison PS4 sold 2.3m in 2014, 1.9m not counting Knack, its also already higher than Vita totals by the end of 2012 and will end up higher than Wii U totals by the end of 2013.

3DS sold 7m in 2011.

Also, my posts yesterday were a missunderstanding, I just got last week's Famitsu by accident, this week's issue has plenty of sales information.

If my understanding of Hokanko's blog post is correct, not only the monthly retail + digital chart is there (who cares, unfortunately: they're not accurate), but also Famitsu's Top 100 for the first half of the year.

Some first tidbits about the top 100

- Resident Evil VII: Biohazard is 6th
- NieR: Automata is 7th
- the game at 100th sold slightly less than 22,000 units

Other point of interest: even if they're not MC, we'll get updated LTDs for several Switch games that haven't appeared in MC / Famitsu for quite a while.

Hopefully the transcription won't take too long :p

And what did you buy a Switch for? If you're willing to sell it over something so trivial, it might be for the best if someone else owns it after all.
For third party exclusive JRPGs? I mean it shouldn't be hard to understand why I will be pissed if Persona Q2 ends up on 3DS. But anyways, the comment was more about expressing frustration and some people here take it too literally apparently.

3DS received a lot of these third party exclusives that I missed on so with region free Switch, I have a chance to redeem this.

Have you played EO/PQ?

Yeah, the way you sketch the dungeon's map as you go inside it is a pretty extensive use of the second screen, and the major reason why many people are wondering how, or even if the franchise will leave the dual screens setup.

Heck, a part of me actually thinks one of the most faithful ways to keep the franchise on consoles is to release a smart device app that links to the game, making it so it acts as the "second screen", with (in Nintendo Switch's case) a special JoyCon grip with an adjustable central space where to fit your smartphone.

I mean, is it not possible to render the dual screens on a single setup? Try to find an alternative for them rather then cut them all out together?

You guys talk like it is next to impossible to do so, which I don't agree with at all. There was a time when people used to say 999 would be impossible to release on anther platform because of the way it was designed and here we are doing the again with EQ/PQ.

It's not impossible, but it will be weird. My ideal setup would be split the screen, but I don't know if this would be liked. I would like multiple configurations, too: a single screen, where you check your map in real time but overlap partialy your vision, but you can't modify your map in this mode, and other configuration where the screen is splitted to explore and modify your map at same time.

But.. it's not that easy, because unlike 999, EO uses of the dual screen is more than a simple gimmick, it's one of its main features.

Smartphones are perfect for that, due to the form factor. Level-5 is doing that with the mobile versions of Lady Layton and Youkai Watch.

You know, patience is a virtue, they announced like 5 JRPGS are coming the switch alone at the Jan presentation

I have said this before in GAF, but it blow my mind that a upcoming SMT was announced in the presentation. I mean, I was expecting to Atlus to announce more games for 3DS this year (and lol, it was true), and surely the game was announced just because Nintendo, because outside P5 and #FE, Atlus really doesn't announce their games too early (I'm expecting the game be Fall 2018).

I have joking Nintendo asked to Atlus to announce the game and have something to hype in exchange to let to Atlus to keep releasing games in 3DS.

Let's bring up the recently released Switch eShop Top 30 ranking for the first half in order to fill it in with Famitsu numbers, while also showing how inaccurate they can be, sadly

You... You bought a Nintendo console for third party exclusive jrpg? This early on? That's mighty confident of you.
Why? Nintendo is already spearheading the path for 3rd party JRPGs with XBC 2. I am really excited for it to be honest and I had hoped that seeing a first party JRPG, other devs would follow suit soon as well.

From the looks of it, we might have to wait a bit for that so I was maybe too optimistic. Ah well, the first party lineup is amazing so it compensates for the lackluster third party support so far. Indies though are absolutely amazing on Switch. I am also excited for games like Owl Boy and Stardew Valley.

So you basically bought it for Yokai Watch?

wow, that's dedication. Sammy has competition.

jk
Ehhh.. Yokai-Watch was interesting to me until they milked it to death. It lost its charm long ago.

Etrian Odyssey probably shouldn't continue on Switch. Just make a spiritual successor with the same team and composer and call it 'Eternal Etrian' or something.

PQ2 isn't hitting anything but 3DS. It doesn't make sense on any other platform.

It was more a joke about no 3rd party JRPGS. And getting a console for it.

I don't see SMT or Octopath being exclusive. Yokai is the only notable one I see in the near future unless I'm forgetting something

It'll have at least FE and Xenoblade. And the Mario RPGs. And Mother 4 :p.

Pretty sure most if not all SE RPGs on Switch are going to be shared with PS4 and/or with mobile down the road, but still, outside mainline FF and KH we should get pretty much all of SEs RPGs that aren't mobile exclusives on Switch. Releasing DQX&XI, Lost Sphear, and Octopath are suggestive of this.

We'll see how Atlus approaches it. I think a lot of us are expecting SMT HD to be SMT5 PS4/Switch multi-platform, which, well, we'll see. The way they're calling it certainly is suggestive. Would a hypothetical EOVI or other EO successor take a similar route? And what about Atlus going the other way? With Vita having presumably no successor, Switch seems the natural place for a hypothetical P5P to go, for example. Would Atlus go further than that, i.e. release future PS4 releases like, presumably, Hashino's next game or a Persona 6 simultaneously on Switch?

Pretty much any other JRPG it'd get would be coming from a company expanding from Sony hardware (and PC as the case may be) to Switch. Like is the case with, say, Disgaea 5 or would be the case if, hypothetically, a Falcom game came to Switch.

DarkLordMalik was talking 3rd party exclusive, which i don't imagine there will be many notable ones.

Yep so was I :). I was simply working through the ins and outs as I saw them. (And expanding it to the whole JRPG scene on Switch).

Edit:

Basically, DQ is going multiplatform. SMT looks like it might well be also.

I think the 3DS 'exclusive' Square games ended up on mobile too (or was that just the plan SE had?). I'd expect Octopath to follow suit. The other Square support that's been announced is on PS4 too.

Atlus is more up in the air. SMT is still a question mark, even if it looks a certain way. And then what's going to happen with EO? (And then I said some stuff about the other way around, which is also interesting).

Why? Why are you skeptical over the Switch getting exclusives when the 3DS received so many of them?

From Bravely Default to Atlus RPGs to niche ones like Alliance and League. 3DS has a fairly healthy share of JRPGs and I don't see any reason why the Switch shouldn't be able to do the same.

I guess I don't really see the Switch getting nearly as many 3rd party exclusives as the 3DS in general, nevermind jrpgs specifically. Not that it needs to if it gets enough multiplat jp support.

but we'll see.
