Just the matter of time, Asia will be bigger Japan game market than Japan itself.

I think Asia is already a bigger game market than Japan, but it just isn't a bigger game market for Japanese companies than Japan itself yet. That is the main thing that will change as Japanese publishers increase their business in the region.

Japan is in Asia, though.
This is like say that just the matter of time that Continental Europe will be bigger than UK. (Already is and always has been)

Time changes, before we had 3 regions (America, Europe and Japan, and no place for emerging markets), now we have America, Europe and Asia. A much fair comparison since we're talking about continents.

The other option is to team up with a local distributor who understands the market and give them a lot of leverage in advising you how to operate there.

Nintendo sometimes does this, but they're not always super careful in picking the distributors and then - and this is very important - investing the resources to support them. The distributor obviously can't do anything with digital networks or locally targeted content or enticing third party software vendors to get their software localized and distributed in the market.

Isnt that what Nintendo do with Maxsoft here? As they are Nintendo sole distributor for SEA and Middle East here?

I mean, while i feel the effort is improving recently tx to Maxsoft being more active in engaging its fans through social media, from my visit to Maxsoft office in Bugis, Singapore and some talk with employees there, it seems Nintendo does provide some support on providing them the software and any event regarding to the software. However other than that, it seems there are little connection there on how to improve sales or even any strategy to sales the products produced by Nintendo.

I feel Nintendo shouks try to build themselves their own small branch for each location like SEA, middle easy, etc only to manage the distributors and what stratrgy they should use tk improve brand awareness in that region.

According to Nintendo, Monster Hunter X Sell-Through is over 3 million.

Meaning that digital sales are over 350k.

Edit: more sell-through data

Media Create (Up to Jan 24th)
[3DS] Rhythm Heaven: The Best+ <ACT> (Nintendo) {2015.06.11} (¥4.700) - 639.960

Digital Sales over 70k

[3DS] Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer # <ETC> (Nintendo) {2015.07.30} (¥4.000) - 1.317.679

We did know about MHX, right? Capcom reported 3.2m units shipped. Rhythm Heaven is approaching the Wii entry thanks to eShop sales - still a great result for the IP.

PREDICTION LEAGUE FEBRUARY 2016

Predict how much these titles will sell in the month (from Feb 01 to Feb 28):

[3DS] Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final (19 days) - 142.135
[PS4] Valkyria Chronicles Remastered (19 days) - 54.321
[PS4] Street Fighter V (11 days) - 88.000
[PSV] Kan Colle Kai (11 days) - 165.000
[PS4 + PS3 + PSV] Attack on Titan (11 days) - 123.456
[PS4 + PSV] Project Setsuna (11 days) - 43.210
[3DS] Nintendo 2DS [Pocket Monsters] (2 days) - 66.666

These Disgaea sales are prime example of people putting too much emphasis on JP/NPD sales.

1 month NPD sales mind you and its only something many have been saying and yet some choose to ignore. EU and Asia are notable players in the LTD of many games and its often harder to get explicit numbers for games in such regions.

[3DS] Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final (19 days) - 130,000
[PS4] Valkyria Chronicles Remastered (19 days) - 40,000

[3DS] Nintendo 2DS [Pocket Monsters] (2 days) - 48,888

The lack of proper Splatoon merchandising (Vinnk said something about that) likely pushed amiibo sales upwards. I hope Nintendo realizes Splatoon staying power, but I guess we shouldn't be worried about that.

These numbers must be rounded to the closest 50k since they have Monster Strike sales at >750k when Media Create has it at 770k as of last week without digital.

Or they are until the end of 2015.

Yeah, I realized that something seems wrong with Monster Strike. MediaCreate has the game at 770k, and if Nintendo is talking about sell-through, that means that digital sales are included and overall sales should be higher, more like 800k.

If we use 2015 sales then:

[3DS] Monster Hunter X # <ACT> (Capcom) {2015.11.28} (¥6.264) - 2.521.859
Digital Sales ~480k

[3DS] Monster Strike <RPG> (Mixi) {2015.12.17} (¥4.860) - 699.436
Digital Sales ~50k

[3DS] Rhythm Heaven: The Best+ <ACT> (Nintendo) {2015.06.11} (¥5.076) - 620.782
Digital Sales ~80k

[3DS] Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer # <ETC> (Nintendo) {2015.07.30} (¥4.320) - 1.301.227
Digital Sales ~100k

That's a big boost for Vita thanks to Dragon Quest: Builders.
Not that much for PS4, after all.
