Apparently Devil's Third sold through it's initial shipment on Amazon Japan.

Also has 4 stars, a lot better than I thought it would.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???

From that 100 chart, XCX really fell off quick and fast and we haven't seen or heard much of it digitally either. Seems everything falls off a cliff once it leaves the 20s, even Bloodborne barely moved and is now being given away for free. Really puts "legs" into context.

Apparently Devil's Third sold through it's initial shipment on Amazon Japan.

Also has 4 stars, a lot better than I thought it would.

Meanwhile, just about everything else this gen is sitting at 3.5/4 stars on Amazon, lol. Bayo2, 3DWorld, and Splatoon being the seeming lone exceptions. FE:If is at 3.5, HHD is at 3.5 (though I suspect it will actually go up since unlike most 3.5 star games, its top rated review is a 5-star, usually you can see the top review matching the overall review score) right now, etc.

amajp is brutal for reviews lol, and a lot of them are actually really well written and thoughtful but all the same critical.

Even more important in my eyes is local multiplayer. Nintendo's other multiplayer sensations have phenomenal local multi, while splatoon's is nearly non-existent. it makes selling my friends on the game slightly harder. campaign co-op, big splitscreen matches, or some alternate party-game modes would probably have given the game even more absurd legs.

now, all that combined with a cooler single-player campaign? splat2n putting mario kart on notice.

Yup, that's a very good point. Better local multiplayer to capture the party game atmosphere would boost the franchise even more.

They stopped doing that last quarter. Looks like Bandai Namco will no longer provide shipment data either.

Yup, Bandai Namco highlighted Dragon Ball continued strong performance, but that's it.

Oh well.

is it just me or did xcx just come and ago like nothing happened especially with all the hype surrounding it ever since it was revealed. people were blown away by its trailers and open world stuff. I honestly can't see the game lighting the charts on fire worldwide either. is it the curse of the wii u? would nintendo consider it a failure and stop making any further entries in the series?

It's an RPG on the Wii U. It was definitely alluded as an amazing game, it reviewed well too.

That doesn't change the fact that it was an ROG on the Wii U, in Japan. It was never going to grow big outside of core fans, even id it sold well.

Btw, the blog reported that Call of Duty will be published by Sony in Japan now. So it will become exclusive and treated as Destiny.

It sold a bit over 100K in the end on a struggling platform. It actually opened better than Xenoblade did on Wii, but basically had no legs whatsoever.

Sure it did worse than it did on Wii by a good bit, but it (along with Golden week) sold a good bit of hardware. Also I had reviews were mediocre in comparison to Xenoblade thus the lack of much legs.

Why wait for DQXI when we can have another comparison on the same platform. Can Splatoon outsell Smash WiiU? :)

Of course it will outsold it.^~^ I still feel Splatoon have huge chances of breaking that million ceiling too. Which will be a great achievement especially when we know how rare did home console exclusive ever get million seller even in ps3 and wii.

Frozen 3DS is coming 3 December and Big Hero 6 10 December. I'm really unsure what numbers Frozen will pull.

Square-Enix

- Consolidated Financial Results for the Three-Month Period Ended June 30, 2015 -

pNZz1Jj.png

During the three-month period ended June 30, 2015, in the area of content for platforms such as smart devices and PC browser, “SENGOKU IXA,” a PC browser game and games for smartphones such as “DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS SUPER LIGHT,” “SCHOOLGIRL STRIKERS,” “FINAL FANTASY RECORD KEEPER” and “ Kai-ri-Sei Million Arthur” have continued to ride high on its already solid growth.

Expansion disc sales and operations of massively multiplayer online role playing games; “ FINAL FANTASY XIV” and “DRAGON QUEST X” have been making favorable performances.

Among the console game titles, sales of new titles were fewer compared with the same period of the prior fiscal year, but repeat sales, primarily through download, of catalogue titles have gained favorable results.

Net sales and operating income in the Digital Entertainment segment totaled ¥30,297
million (an increase of 29.2% from the same period of the prior fiscal year) and ¥8,191million (an increase of 81.6% from the same period of the prior fiscal year), respectively.

That fall off is pretty standard for jRPGs, and TW3 is really one of the few RPGs in general to have beat the curb (and it deserves it as an awesome game). Okami made a comparison of Tales and how it also fell off fast and hard, and the WiiU in and of itself just has too small an established jRPG base unlike the PS3/PS4 which are platforms much more known for their jRPGs. Wii had a decent jRPG line-up but nothing Nintendo ever really built into anything, though they now seem to be trying to build something of an RPG brand for themselves but you don't usually come out of the gate with a clear hit and it can take some time to really build a jRPG audience when you've basically never had one. (Though the Wii did leave them with a few "known" brands like The Last Story and Xenoblade though the former seems to have been given on good terms to Mistwalker for Terra Battle. I have no idea how Pandora's did.)

Nintendo seems to be trying to build some thing of an jRPG base for their console brand but it will obviously be late for the WiiU and XCX but it may pay off in building the fanbase for the future (I doubt FE# is going to blow up or do much better than XCX if at all... though the game seems to have gone totally off the wall so who knows what its even going to do...). They've managed to nurture some new strengths on the 3DS with titles/genres they didn't quite have before or at least maintained a decent fanbase after a success, but we'll see what they manage with the console front.

Maybe they realized the oversaturation of basic platformers on their consoles...

Wii U, lack of marketing and, specially, poor to divisive reviews. Bad word of mouth.

Favorable sounds like "disappointing" the way its used here, lol.

It is a translated report from Japanese to English mind you :p

I wish they would of gone in greater detail about Heavensward's performance, but we'll most likely see a presentation on that in Q2.

Sales in Japan weren't favorable (lolz) so I'm interested to see if the west picked up the slack.

With what...? Type-0? That's fallen off the charts completely.

I could ask my friend if she won't mind reading it for interesting detail, though she'll probably say no unless I promise something I don't want to promise next time I'm in Japan on conference, lol.

Edit: FFXIV Expansion

If Sony does the expected and kills handheld line after PSP, NX has good chances to top 20m again.
Sony killed its handheld line about a year ago, they're just waiting to end production line. Unfortunately for them, it seems Vita will live longer than they would hope for, so they will have to ride it another year at the very least.
Funnily enough, if we look at Vita's upcoming lineup relatively, its probably never had a better one in its lifespan. Its a bunch of multiplatforms games but that's Vita for you, its top10 games are 9 multis (5 same day, 1 early, 1 late, 2 "remasters") and 1 exclusive.

And the Trilion drop too. I thought the feedback was positive for both?

Hopefully it doesn't negatively affect localization possibilities as I want both...
Well, Trillion has stock problems which CH apologized for. Might not have re-stocked yet.
They just mentioned a day ago that, after 4 reprints, they've basically recouped their costs, so the title hasn't failed and that likely won't impact localization chances. Now stuff such as genre, etc , that's a whole other issue.

Bad word of mouth is the single western preview? Because import thread was pretty positive about the game, even if not GIÀ as xeno on wii. Xcx soldi around 130k with digital sales while the original sold around 190k on the 12 millions wii in japan. Dont know wha People where expecting honestly. Splatoon is one of a kind.

Looks like the launch of the second series of Animal Crossing amiibo cards has been delayed.

Apparently can't keep up with demand for the first series, new shipments coming in late August for first series.

I believe one import retailer already cancelled orders for series 2 a while ago, no?

Wow, looks like they underestimated the demand hard if they delayed the series 2.

I want to see if they'll stop with the 2 versions too and go with dubbed version from the beginning. That will cut its sales even more in theory.

I'm not arguing that DQXI won't have plenty of double dippers, however I'd argue that most people that will double dip will just get an used copy, as its pretty much standard with RPGs a few weeks after release there's going to be more used copies than brand new ones out there, which isn't the case with a game like Smash.

Not really considering the price of the used copies will still be quite high. Even more so that its a DQ title.
