[NDS] Etrian Odyssey III: The Downed City <RPG> (Atlus) {2010.04.01} (¥5.980) - 87.765 / 141.899 <74,75%>
[NDS] Etrian Odyssey III: The Downed City [Atlus Best Collection] <RPG> (Atlus) {2011.08.11} (¥2.980) - 658 / 8.034 <19,71%>

Is that a typo in the database, or is the subtitle different in Japan?

3DS: 31.549

And I'm really happy for EOV, not only it debuted with high numbers, but the franchise also recovered from the fatigue from the last few years. Atlus got lucky, they should be more careful from now on.

Ys VIII : Lacrimosa of Dana 6.577 / 64.190 (-53%)

Not bad it seems, still better that Celceta at this point, right ?

No comment about Eiketsuden. Don't know who asked for this in the first place.

At this point I thought the PS4 would hold at 20K until Tales of Berseria but eh, it is still above last year I guess.

Watch out for the next CH DRPG (that's not MeiQ), now that Coven managed to move over 50k copies in Japan in a month or so.

It's been pretty interesting watching the ups and downs of gridders on Vita. It is kinda amusing that Compile Heart finally made a traditional JRPG from the Moero series just after Coven sees runaway success. I doubt a Moero Pirates gridders would've done any better though.

[3DS] Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan <RPG> (Atlus) {2012.07.05} (¥5.980) - 95.506 / 157.483 <75,68%>
01./00. [3DS] Etrian Odyssey V: The End of the Long Myth # <RPG> (Atlus) {2016.08.04} (¥6.480) - 92.518 / NEW
A very mild drop, but 2016's unending trend continues.

That said, I'm fine with putting this in the winner's pile as a whole.

14./03. [PS4] The Idolm@ster: Platinum Stars # <SLG> (Bandai Namco Games) {2016.07.28} (¥8.200) - 6.207 / 82.372 (-92%)

No legs for idols.

EOV and Dragon Ball seem fine. The leggy games are all holding well, though Minecraft Vita almost dropping off is odd. I guess there's only so much room for leggy games. 3DS shows it isn't finished, but it's about time the PS4 really started to shine.

Not sure how many digital copies these things tend to sell, but isn't it plausible that it sold 3000+ digital? It could technically be an improvement on IV.

Atlus just mentioned the sales on Twitter, and talked of "strong" sales for the digital version.

https://twitter.com/SQ_kouhou/status/763372576659738624

So yeah, EOV definitely outsold EOIV. Just with about 3k digital sales, we'd get 3% digital ratio, which seems a bit too low. I'd say digital sales are about 5-7k max.

Real test will be total sales. Curious to see where it'll land. Honestly, expecting the game to end up slightly below EOIV for LTD sales.

Wasn't this DS3? Anyway, EOIV didn't have a digital release at launch.

Yeah, it was Dark Souls III.

As unreliable as they are, Famitsu estimates in a few weeks should give us a good idea of how much EOV as sold on the eShop.

Seriously, what happened to yokai watch? I remember yw2 selling over a million first week and that was only 2 years ago.

I feel something drastic happened that turned people off. I've never seen a franchise that was so popular fall this quickly in popularity.

I don't know what retailers were thinking when they accepted the 300k extra shipment of Yo-kai Watch 3.

First week sell-through was 63,07%, now it's just 74,2% at best, "thanks to" that additional and unneeded shipment.

HIks. EO does not do really well, but Dragon Ball actually sold better than my prediction lol.
Eh, EO V probably sold as well or better then EO IV which was best selling game in the series. So it's doing alright I would say.

Everything else though ....

Now on Rakuten, the game is 26% off. Totally available, of course. Shamely that price drop will keep the game (at least on that website) at the top a couple of weeks more. They are giving the triple of points than they usually give for a game, especially for Tempura, since is the less popular version.

That second shipment has been bothering me ever since Media Create mentioned it a few weeks ago. I have no idea how it happened, given Level-5 couldn't have forced it on retailers. Doesn't make any sense.

FW for Dragon Ball games on Nintendo 3DS (Famitsu, Games Data Library):

Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission - 90.119 units at launch, 299.001 units in total
Dragon Ball: Fusions - 81.548 units at launch
Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission 2 - 70.832 units at launch, 219.993 units in total
Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden - 68.398 units at launch, 154.871 units in total

Legs will be key for DBF. I think it should be able to reach 200 000 units sold LTD.

With Digital i agree there. But i sure hoped for moar here.T_T

Dragon Ball actually did quite well there. It is their second best selling on 3DS if i am not mistaken.^_^

Maybe retailers expected to sell the extra shipment in Obon... anyway, they'll sell this shipment without help from the bomba bins (but the game will get discounts for sure).

The question is if the game can sell some more than this second shipment and reach 1.5 million LTD for example.

L~A

I guess that will depend on holiday (December) sales, and whether Pokémon Sun and Moon leaves it any room.

***

Made some quick calculations, and the 3DS needs about 47k/week to reach 22 million units before the end of the year. Gonna be tough, especially if there's no price drop.

I believe the PS2 is within reach. Maybe GameBoy too?

@hiska-kun: for your Mario & Sonic comparison, could you create a third line for Wii U + 3DS combined?

I thought, the game is currently now already receive price cut already?

What. wait? Is there announcement i don't know here?

Vita's successor is being announced at the Ps Meeting and it's a portable PS4 and Nintendo hasn't announced NX because they're already dead.

Some antenna got sent to the FCC and people are jumping to conclusions.

Noooooo, PS4 beast mode is over! We need FFXV and Persona FAST!

Edit: ohhh, shortages? That makes more sense then.

Have we actually had any retailer discussing shortages rather than the potential for them? Curious.

It's been twice so far PS4 was supposed to face shortage when it didn't. Until you see confirmation from trackers or those living in Japan things should be considered normal.

Nirolak, do you actually see Sony making another handheld?

Not in the foreseeable future.

If we're sitting here in 2040 and the most logical thing for the PS9 is a 10 watt mobile SoC even if it's a home console, well then sure, but I don't think they'll ever make a distinct product again.

2040? That's fairly optimistic of you...

... after all the device is almost ready.
