Different reporting stores and different extrapolation formula.

Discrepancies happen both with software and hardware every week. 20k are a lot of units, but 11% isn't the biggest difference we've seen.

3DS:

M-Create: 196,000
Famitsu: 215,000
Dengeki: 220,000

This week, MC happened to be further away from the other two.

I don't think it's that unusual. Looking at the Famitsu and Media Creaate numbers for 3DS through its first 24 weeks, they differed by more than 10% five times. Checking PSP in the same period, there are a few weeks where they even differ by more than 20%.

Are those Japan dates or NA/EU/AU dates? All of the main Pokemon games except R/B/Y and FR/LG have released in the fall/winter in Japan and in the following spring/summer elsewhere. So, most likely, it'll only release in Japan next year. Not too surprising, since they usually need 1-3 years to move to a new handheld. (G/S released in 1999/2000, R/S released in 2002/2003, D/P in 2006/2007)

Not too surprising when the 8th placed PS2 game only sold 75 copies in May, with PES in first only selling 3,640. The only upcoming PS2 game is PES again, I wonder if that will be the last Japanese PS2 release (excluding budget re-releases). It's a shame that they never replaced the PS2 chart with another platform.

Just to be a bit more clear: it's also stating that all the games that were at clearance prices have returned to normal,

and that The big electronic stores are receiving small amount of shipments over the weekend, so if you can't find 3ds at your local store go to the big stores. (it goes along with some other retailers saying that some wholesalers were out of stock for the weekend)

Dark Souls should do 250k-300k LTD for Japan, should be a 100-150 launch.
The original did 150-200k LTD with crazy legs.

Looking at the numbers, PS3 is the weirdest console ever. It sells 20k every week with no notable releases. SCE needs to fund some titles for it. The other branches buy studios left and right while SCEJ lets PD and Team ICO do whatever they want; well I guess PD(sales) and Udea(greatness) deserve it but still. Japan must have some cool, up and coming studios to buy or partner up with.

With "Best" release it did 230k according to Famitsu, 270k according to M-Create. 250k-300k for Dark Souls seems reasonable.

Right now, MHP3 is the only one assured (currently at 991k). But that's a 2010 release. For 2011 releases, the possibilities seem to be:

- MK7
- SM3DL
- RHWii

(BW seem unlikely -- currently at 351k.)

Last time things were as weak was in 2005. Still, 2005 had 17 games over 500k.

At the moment, I'm not confident in Type-0's performance to even match Dissidia and Crisis Core. If it is regarded as the "best FF evah", though, who knows.

If XIII-2 don't do a million that would be funny as hell.
Got to see how much the PS3 going to sell because of the price drop.
It has few games coming up along with a new color .
