Media Create Sales: Week 33, 2014 (Aug 11 - Aug 17)

Other new 3DS game announcements are Sonic Powered with Japan Railway! Hieizan Train Edition (23 October) and MTO with Syunsoku Mezase! Zenkoku Saikyou Runner (30 October). Elminage Ibun: Ame no Mihashira has also been dated for 23 October.
*sigh* if it ain't Planes, it's Trains with Sonic Powered, how about a more meaningful retail 3DS game eh?!

Trying to find info about MTO's game, for ONCE it sounds like it's NOT a pet game!

Edit: My attempts of finding info resulted in interpreting that it's about... Running Shoes?

Its a three page interview where he talks about Yokai Watch, transmedia, and smartphones a lot, so if anyone could do even a short summary that would be wonderful.

Google Translate gave a certain impression of what the answers were, but given it's really not great with Japanese I don't want to give any info with that in case I got the opposite impression of what he actually said.
I guess he's saying that the only viable option was 3DS, and that smartphones will be used to promote the game; they already have an app dedicated to YW, apparently.

*sigh* if it ain't Planes, it's Trains with Sonic Powered, how about a more meaningful retail 3DS game eh?!
If they keep developing those games, probably they are profitable :) selling 10k is not that bad, also because they are the same game with a different skin.

The Tomorrow Children is a PS4 title.

The Tomorrow Children is a PS4 title.
Sorry I meant to write PS4, but got so used to typing PS3 for these lists.

And it was a Gamescom title.
That I know, but Road to TGS counts anything from Japanese developers from August 1st to the end of TGS regardless of where it was announced.

Don't worry, even being extremely generous this list is still super depressing for every platform. :p

Bullet Girls beating The Last of Us Remastered and Diablo III: Reaper of Souls.
http://www.tsutaya.co.jp/rank/game.html

aww yeah. Glad Compile heart is focusing on polishing on what already seems like a masterpiece.
LOL. Gotta give them credit though for being among the first few third party developers to release a game for PS4. It's a shame big companies like Bandai Namco, Capcom and Square Enix still struggle or can't be bothered to take a step forward.

I think we can safely conclude the PS4 is the worst selling PlayStation in Japan ever because it did not launch with Ridge Racer.
Wow. That is a lot of software that is nowhere to be found on PS4. A lot of the games that people were buying during the first six months of PS2 and PS3 haven't even been announced for PS4.

You've got:

-Japanese Wrestling game
-Armored Core (or any From Software game)
-Street Fighter (and EX3 was a shitty spin off. They couldn't even get a shitty spin off out?)
-Dynasty Warriors
-Japanese Baseball game
-Dead or Alive
-Kessen (lets just say Koei game)
-Tekken
-Ridge Racer
-Virtua Fighter (So many fighting games. What's going on with fighting games in 2014?)
-Mobile Suit Gundam

As far as I know, the only games announced for PS4 that are even remotely related to the list above is Tekken 7 (2015), Bloodborne (A From Software title, 2015), and Guilty Gear (A fighting game, 2014). I understand that with mobile/handheld domination in Japan, it's probably not worth the effort to even try and make sequels to the games listed above on PS4, but still. It's a damn shame.

Instead, during the first 6 months of PS4, the only games released that are really aimed at the Japanese market have been:

-MGS V demo (also on PS3)
-Yakuza (also on PS3)
-FIFA 14 (also on PS3)
-Final Fantasy XIV (also on PS3)

That's kinda pathetic.

What's important is the sales figures, not quality of games (they are all terrible, no doubt). The PS3 release schedule and especially PS2 appealed to the Japanese market a great deal more than PS4s, hence the higher sales.

Koei's released like three or four PS4 games already.

Also, FIFA is aimed at the Japanese market???
Really? For some reason I'm having a really hard time finding a master list of PS4 games in Japan. I figured if they were out they'd crack the top 10... which isn't particularly hard to crack.

I'd say FIFA has worldwide appeal. Obviously not squarely aimed at the Japanese market specifically.

I don't get the "any game by From" thing, they weren't really a big name back them. (they still aren't but their profile increased quite a bit).

The PS3 sales are also just as terrible if not worse.

Huh. Missed that. From what I can gather, it was released for PS3 in February 2013, then re-released on PS4 a year later?

Yeah, doesn't really count. How many of those high selling PS2 games were cross-gen with PS1? Or PS3 games with PS2? While these "remasters" seems to be doing decently well in the West, Japan really doesn't seem to give a fuck about updated graphics. If the game is for PS3, and cheaper, that's the version they're going to buy.

It's a decently large Japanese third party. They've always sold well on Sony platforms. A new Armored Core would have been a great launch or 2014 title for PS4. ANY Japanese third party, PS4 exclusives would have been great.

Keep in mind for PS3 sales...

PS3 launch price: ¥59,800
PS4 launch price: ¥39,980

Dynasty Warriors: Gundam (PS3) outsold everything on PS4 so far besides Knack, which is a pack in.

It looks like you're using Famitsu data. Orochi 3 Hyper's reporting period is nine months. DW8XL is four.

Nobunaga's Ambition 201X (?!?!?) seems to be for iOS/Android/PC, if I'm reading correctly.
Seeing the images, it looks also different, gameplay-wise, to other main chapters...?

EDIT: Nobunaga with an headphone and a gun...oh my.

While FIFA has had some success on Japanese iOS, I don't think it's actually ever done especially well on consoles, has it?
Theres one on PS2 that did 252k

The PS4 one is already at 100k and has outsold the PS3 FIFA's as far as I know. It also seems the PS4 user base adopts western games better than its predecessors.

I'd say FIFA14 has been partially influenced by the special PS4 bundle and the fact it had an 80% discount for Plus users. :p
