525k for Xillia, very impressive. Nice boost for the PS3, and hopefully 3DS should settle at 50k now.

Amazing sales for ToX.

IMO the biggest 3rd party console success this generation (given franchise history, etc.).

One point though- Tales games typically have little to no legs, so I wouldn't be expecting a million or anything crazy like that.

Still, an insane number.

I'm not sure about that honestly. Tales games are usually very frontloaded.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
3ds Sales will pick up again with these week announcements - no need to worry.

not likely. Don't see Tales game double its first week number. It's as front loaded as FF and FFXIII's first week is about 75% of it's lifetime number. ToX will probably hit 750K which is fantastic and way above anyone's expectation.

No, Tales is not as frontloaded as FF.

But the high amount of used copies that may be available will probably make this one have a higher first week / LTD ratio compared to previous entries.

This might be one of the best PS3 software weeks till date, right? I think the FF13 launch week ranks higher, but are there better weeks software wise then this? The top 4 is like 660k combined.

I doubt that, 3DS has sold all it can on hype this first year or so. People are done doing that. It wont sell until the games actually release IMO.

Unbelievable. I could have never predicted maybe half way through this gen that Tales would see a return to massive heights on the PS3 in Japan. I mean really, I couldn't have predicted that, not on the PS3 with its super slow start, not in Japan which I thought had all moved to handhelds for their RPG fix mainly, and definitely not set an all time series high for opening week this gen. I assumed Tales was pretty much on its way out. Seemed like it was whored around a lot.

And now here it is, having one of the best console game opening weeks this generation.

Amazing Xillia sales, more so looking the price of that thing. For reference does anyone know what price FFXIII, MH3 and MGS4 launched at? Those are the big 3rd party titles that come to mind.

You won't see announcements' effects on 3DS until the games will be advertised.
Only a minority know about them already.
And however, 50k are still VERY GOOD, especially without games.
Since 3DS will fall again, maybe 45k, it is possible that Kagura could make the pen*errg* the console stay at that level.

How could they have possibly known. Honestly I wouldnt have guessed it either. I mean jesus, 500k+ week one. This is probably a guaranteed million seller, we are headed into the holidays for crying out loud. ToX is definitely going to be a million seller.

PSV with its lackluster TGS showing served PSP that accomplishment on a silver plate. Who knows, maybe it's what Sony wants for now, I doubt it.

Their ports of Vesperia and Graces F did well. Plus the PS3 didn't exactly have many great rpgs at the time. They could have capitalized on that. It doesn't matter anymore, because Tales seems to be back with style.

Not surprised at ToX, exactly what I predicted. Square (and Nintendo) dropped the ball with making enough good core RPGs (former by making bad games, latter by forsaking the installed base early)


I doubt that, 3DS has sold all it can on hype this first year or so. People are done doing that. It wont sell until the games actually release IMO.

It will definitely rise, at least for the next week, because of the conference. People have gained faith in the future of the system.

I'm thinking it would be closer to 80%. only games with good legs would have a drop less than 70%. only 60% for ToX 2nd week would be insane. In that case, it will definitely hit 1 million!
